UK ESPN shows MASSIVE amounts of Hockey, they pretty much show nothing but during the winter, and the ones they cant show live get shown after as "AS LIVE" games. A trait they kept after they bought out NASN (North American Sports Network). Plus they don't tell you the scores of games they're going to be showing that week during live games. Brilliantly simple.

The only reason Sportscenter showed more Hockey back in the day is because ESPN Actually televised Hockey games. So it was in their interest to cross promote their Hockey night.

ESPN didnt renew their NHL TV Contract after the Lockout a few years ago. So now the NHL is on the Versus Network.

And even before the lockout the NHL Hockey was getting garbage ratings on Television

Why would ESPN Waste time showing highlights from a sport that's not as popular as the big 3? It's the same reason they don't show regular season highlights from the WNBA, Arena League Football or the MLS.  When's the last time you saw a run of MLS Highlights on Sportscenter?

As far as I know, DirecTV stopped Versus coverage a few months ago because of contract issues with Comcast (Comcast owns Versus).

Sports will be covered first in the level of "National give a damn" and secondly based on what sports the network has a vested financial interest in.

This is so much classier than the current theme song. It reminds me of football sundays in my house when I was much younger. My dad would turn on Sportscenter so we could watch college football highlights and we would stay on ESPN for NFL Countdown, tuning over to a different show for the NFL with Dick Schapp when the NFL Countdown was on commercials. I miss those days. (I would appreciate if someone would tell me what the name of the NFL show with Dick Schapp was.
