Lionel 30001 Santa Fe El Capitan Train Set from TRAINZ.COM

actually some Lionel were made for ac and dc, some of their accessories like the hand car, the pickup that goes on the tracks, and a few cheapo sets from the 80's, the stes had problems with the motors burning out so lionel offered straight ac replacement motors, the bad part is the fact there is no reversing units in some of these items mentioned

yes this train is wrong. the El Capitan is a bilevel train buddy not single. what u got here is the Super Chief.

@howardkevinm YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THAT HAVE THIS SET BUT IV ADDED THE B-UNIT & THE DUMMY A-UNIT WITH ONE XTRA PASSENGER CAR AND I THINK ITS PRETTY NICE SET TO OWN NOT BAD FOR A MODERN LIONEL SET MADE IN CHINA ITS GOT TWIN MOTORS IN THE POWERED A UNIT RAILSOUNDS AND COMES WITH 3 REALY NICE LOOKING PASSENGER CARS AND LET ME TELL YOU IM REALY NOT A COLLECTOR OF MODERN TRAIN SETS BY LIONEL IM REALY A PREWAR AND POSTWAR COLLECTOR BUT MY KIDS WANTED THE FEW MODERN LIONEL SETS I HAVE

@howardkevinm Not really. The early trains were single level which were later switched out for the bi-level cars.

@SantaFe158 um no. the El Capitan was an all bilevel train. Amtrak used that train set as a template for the superliner cars.

@howardkevinm Um yes, after 1956 they were bi-level.  I have a book on the subject. From 1938 to 1956, they were single level. The EMD FT pulling this set would have operated the single level passenger trains between 1946 and 1953.

This train is not right it shoud have the cars after the engen be two story that is what there trains where and the frirst of there kind to big back in the 50's.

dude you can't use DC on a train you will burn out the motor!! USE AC CURRENT!!
