... Im like in totaly need of adivce... i wanna just scream out IM GAY at school... not litteraly but you get what i mean, but im am petrified of the outcomes like people giving me shit about being gay and stuff like that... plz can i have some adivce?? Thnk you!! ^_^
@david1991rules4life Yeah I've lived here in Canada for what is coming up to 5 years, and only been back to Aus once so my accent is slipping. It wasn't strong to begin with cause my Mum was a Kiwi, so I end up with this strange blend.
...and i dnt wanna tell her like when i'm already moved out or married to him (my dream) because she'll get a sudden shock and could be very depressed she was missing out on things, orrrr like i never told her (not realy true) or stuff like that, and i think it would be slack tro open to her at such a late stage, sooo any suggestions?
I need a bit of help, here's this simplified to eaze things:
Basically, i'm 19 i'm gay i have a boyfriend for over a year now :D
His mum is a bit suss or very suss actually when i slept over his house i dk she just is hard to explain sorta thing, i don't see him over his anymore lets just say that things didn't go well, she basically dispises me lol.
Ok my main drama atm, i can't tell my mum, i've told her b4 with aid of my older (adult) sisters... she denies it till this day, & i dnt wanna..
ok i just saw this video and some of my best friends are very rude to gay people. I want to come out and just tell them that im bisexual. But i am afraid of what they might think. Im not easy to get along with unless im with someone like. Now the more i talk to them i find out more about how if one of their friends turned gay they would basically ignore them.It makes me sad i cant even tell my best friend. Do you have any advice for me?
@caitymonster321 Hmmm... I would first start by talking to someone who is a councillor on the phone - like a kids help line and talk to them and let them know your situation. I would say, being 14 be very careful who you tell at the moment because you have another 4 or so years of school and maybe start to seek new friends (slowly) who you can trust.
I think I may be bi but I'm not quite sure how to tell people. I hang out with my aunt and she a lez. She's my role model. All her friends are gay as well and I'm afraid that if j come out everyone will believe I'm just trying to be like her. Any advice??
thanks for coming out and help others to come out. Its hard to hate someone you know and respect. And easy to hate the nameless "them".
Coming out is far more important then eg marriage. Because as people discover people they love and respect are gay, marriage will become an easy road to travel.
@ExplorationB This is one of the reasons why I watch our videos. I'm so happy you made a video like this one because it really does help a lot of people. really good advice I would have loved to see this video before I came out because it would have helped me a lot. Thank You ExplorationB
I came out back in the early 90s (94 or so) when in Spain the gay "subject" just started to appear on TV programs, films, etc. Still, no role models available then.
In any case, I think this is a brilliant summary for teens in the process of awareness or comming out. Information is the key!
@ExplorationB You're welcome, Sir! Thank you for sharing with the world all the good in you, in a very broad sense. And... I also miss some things from the 90s...
Just friggin COME OUT!! I lost my 20's did not do it until 30..my twenties were so lonely and depressing SOOOOO happy I met my hubby..19 years this past Fri. YAAAAY! Please..just be who you are..the way you were created..then everything else will fall into place...
Hi, I'm 17 and from Peru. The situation here is probably similar (or worse) than what you lived (in terms of homosexuality being socially acceptable), with the difference that gay people are more visible (thank God for the internet!). I haven't come out yet, but will do soon and only to a few very close friends. Thanks for the advice!
@CAYOMluver Hey Goodluck! I was very lucky when I came out as I was made to know how supportive everyone was. It was the 90s but I was able to fit in well with my friends and family. it's still very scary but hopefully turns out better than you think. Good luck my friend! Take your time
At least media exposure reveals there's some understanding of acceptance and an admittance of existence (Unlike some "perfect" countries like Iran...). Even better, places like YouTube where one could view a great many coming out videos with real people telling real stories!
Good advice. It's amazing how some people believe that there really isn't any social stigma, or hate for that matter, for gay people. If mainstream culture showcases gays and even televises them, then the hard times must be over... right? It's society deluding itself into thinking one thing whilst ignoring reality. But on the other hand, things have improved.
I dated this guy, told him he was gay. He broke up with me and dated my friend, took her virginity but he had to get so drunk to do so when he reached for the condom he threw up on her. He held on to the "bi" mask a few years, got strung out on heroin and i found him completely wasted & literally in my closet crying that cause he hated himself for being a fag and screaming the only time he loved himself was when he was high. He;s been a drunken suicidal addict ever since. :-(
@Quayz183 That is terrible! I hope he can finally reach out to someone, you never know once he finds help for his substance problem he should be able to work through the next lot. It's important to take care of the herroin problem first. It's a tough one!
@ExplorationB I stood with him for 5 years till he started getting violent. he eventually traded heroin for alcohol and meth and then added RX addictions when he got "help." I always point out his story to anyone that says being gay is a choice...cause it was clear it was one he didnt want for himself...not that he's celibate or anything lol
@Quayz183 Yeah totally it's time for everyone to tap out and avoid going down with him. It's sad but sometimes it's the make or break stage some people need.
@Quayz183 owww i feel sorry for ur friend. What he really needs is a very very close friend who he can rely on. :( being gay isnt a choice. If people got that message into their thick skulls, they would begin to understand their unnecessary hatred against gay people! ^_^
@Quayz183 So sad to see what religion (societys influence) can do to people. I lost 2 friends to it (suicide). The only salvation is to Accept & love yourself people, DO IT ! ...get revenge through better living!
@sleekcartim that had absolutely nothing to do with religion it was his own problems and he probably would have found another reason to hate himself he wasnt gay. Hell, he had he issues w/ the fact his biological father was a mexican among other things.
@Quayz183 well it's one thing if he's depressed over other than gay stuff, but all societys gay hate stems from religion / bible condomnation. if everyone grew up on a deserted island, they wouldnt know to hate a certain group.
@sleekcartim insert some quasi intelligent comment about homophobia existing even in areas where religion is banned (ex china) and that homophobia in religion was injected by their practitioners who were already homophobic in their society (rome, middle east) and that homophobia exists where religion doesn't directly condemn it. Its unlikely that on a deserted island homophobia wouldnt exist. It'd be there along with xenophobia, misogyny, and classism. I think it's human nature to be bigoted
@Quayz183 ok im guessing your a religious person, by denying reality. The fact is religion IS the root cause of homophobia. doesnt matter if religion is banned somewhere. The fact is, families hold strong to their beliefs & pass them to fam / others for generations.
@sleekcartim No actually i am not religious whatsoever. I just study people and the way they think (literally). I highly doubt that communist atheist china is influenced by religion when some kid beats up a gay kid. People use religion as a scapegoat for everything. it's so freaking old. Its obvious you have a narrow understanding on the development of religion and cultural interactions. here's a hint abrahams god isnt the be all and end all of faiths.
@sleekcartim (cont) kind of like how little kids are afraid of/mock things that arent like them. It takes really developed minds to overcome that egocentric behavioral trait but sadly, most people have to be on the receiving side of hate before they can reach that level of understanding
@sleekcartim I get it, you have a chip on your shoulder when it comes to religion.
welp, you're being as bigoted as any gay basher in putting all your problems on religion. People believe what empowers them and they condemn what is different from them. Thats human nature. It describes the entirety of human history. Maybe it makes you feel better to believe that there is one entity that causes people to hate, sorry, its just not the case.
It's a lil scary to see some of the very young kids blast out of the closet, without any real thought, as to what theyre going to do if something goes really wrong. learn how others came out by watching MANY coming out vids. your situation will be covered by at least some of them. Know that most ppl, if not supportive at 1st, do come around in time. NEVER take to negative comments 2 heart
@orangegoblin82 I try to stay Australian, but I think because I was in LA I had to put on my American accent so they can understand me when I talk at Starbucks. Did you have that problem?
@ExplorationB Nah, if they didn't understand me the first time I just spoke in a really loud voice as though they were retarded. Standard way of dealing with all foreigners.
@ExplorationB hi! you are sooo sweet! i really like your accent! i love you!(not that way) you give great advice i'd like to tell you i recently came out to my very best friends who are in germany and they took it really well they said they like me for bieng my self.= )
