  • Dreyfuss was red hot in the 70s.

  • Mark Hamill at 0:53

  • He was only 29 years old when he won this award! Adrian Brody broke his record.

  • oh my god john travolta!

  • I had such a crush on him back then.He is interesting and funny. Good parts are hard to come by for we aging folks. By the way comedy is the most difficult to play as he did in the Goodbye GIRL.

  • OMG! 1978 amazing! all those actors were really young but sadly this is not the reality today. Why John TRavolta didnt win? has he ever win an oscar?

  • I remember this at the time. Stallon is a childish and selfish moron for drawing this out and adding his gratuitous remark, "The new heavyweight actor..."

Imagine Richard Burton's thoughts at that moment when the winner also was named "Richard." Dreyfuss is a forgotten non-entity now.

  • Herb Ross...

is the only true gentleman that Dreyfuss had

    ever known in Dreyfuss's life?

    Herb was a stupid schmuck....

    because he married....

married Jackie Kennedy's sister, Liz Rat face.

    You know....

the sister who also slept with her Jackie's husband....JFK.

    Rat face is dog shit.

    Zero loyality.

  • That crooked mouthed freak...

    ONLY got the Rambo part....

    because Steve McQueen ...

    turned it down.

    This crooked mouthed freak....

    is lucky.

  • @frickadele loving your poetry, mate!

  • Funny in Mr. Holland how they show a clip of Saturday Night Fever. Would have been interesting to have just shown this clip.

  • is he by any chance a French Jew?

  • @semyondelaney He's a French Jew, she's a French Jew, they're a French Jew, we're a French Jew, wouldn't you like to be a French Jew too?

  • "You want me to do it by memory...?" Chill out, Stallona.

  • 0:54 Mark Hamill / Luke Skywalker!

  • John Travolta ..............lol

  • he is sooooooooo adorable!!

  • Richard Burton or Marcello Mastroianni deserved the Oscar too much over Dreyffuss. He only won because he's American.

  • Scientologist or not, Travolta should have handily won. Time always tells, no?

  • I read at the time that Faye Dunaway, the previous year's Best Actress winner, was supposed to present this award but she was stucked on traffic... does anybody know if this was true?

  • Back in the days when the winners actually ment what they said.

  • I love how Burton didn't clap for Dreyfuss but clapped fore veryone else.

  • A year earlier, Stallone was a complete unknown....

'Do you want me to do it by memory?'

    Already he's getting big-headed.

  • @dcasey77 Sly was the type of guy who could not handle fame that was thrust upon him so quickly.....He has finally come back down to Earth.

  • He beat out the side dish.

  • I'm glad Richard Dreyfuss won for this movie...because the Academy would of made a gigantic mistake of giving the award to John Travolta for "Saturday Night Fever" considering that they snubbed their songs from the Best Song category (for good reason: They knew it was another 70's fad) and I think that "Fever" was the worst thing to happen in America during the 70's. Consider this: The disco craze that occurred from '75-'79 were started by the same people that were there in the late-60's.

  • @EricandDish I think the right man won. What a wonderful movie, he was outstanding in that role.

  • 0:54 Mark Hamil?

  • He really really really deserves it! He totally deserves it...

  • The best....

  • mastroianni was robbed...god what a shame....

  • @poilonilo oh

  • I love his voice!

  • His face is so adorable-he is so handsome, I can't stand it! ;)

  • Richard Dreyfuss was wickedly, wickedly, cute when he was young! ;) When I watch him in this clip and in Goodbye girl, I get this heavenly heavenly feeling, my heart goes pitter patter, I get so flushed and smile sweetly from ear to ear, and feel as if i'm going to faint! I think i'm in love!! ;)

  • Richard Dreyfuss was HOT when he was young! :)

  • HE'S ADORABLE

  • he reminds me of paul newman?

  • @Loubrockdorff really,I thought the same thing!!!!

  • love the way he talks and yeah was cute

  • The WRONG Richard won this Oscar. The legendary Master Thespian Sir Richard

Burton deserved to finally win a lousy Oscar, which he never would do. Richard

Dreyfuss is an annoying little cokehead twerp!!

  • @JOJO22858 Oh REALLY Dreyfuss was that was he one question you dont actaully know him though do you so how can you be sure he is amazing and millions agree with me but why would u call him that you dont know him soooo you cant really tell and I know he's a good kind man he has donated laods and thousands of money to charity what does that tell you

So u explain to me why he is a cockheaded twerp?

  • @JOJO22858 How could u say that Richard Dreyfuss is a little cokehead twerp

    1. U dont know him

    2. He is a megastar all over the world

    3. he is extremley kind giving all his payment that he earnt in acting to charity

    4. U REALLY REALLY DONT KNOW HIM

    5. He is a extremeley kind funny person to others and his family

    6. He is the most best actor EVER!! (or one of them)

  • @XxSavvyXFrezaxX do you know him?

  • @JOJO22858 i AGREE!!!!!

  • @JOJO22858 make that an academy award winning twerp

  • @JOJO22858 And Richard Burton was an alcoholic and smoked since he was 8. What's your point now?

  • he's really a cute guy... amazing eyes, amazing smile... brilliant man...

  • @damages79 Yes, those are the two top signs of intelligence.

  • 0:53 - Mark Hamill

  • Dreyfuss was 29 years old. I would have said 40!

  • Someone knew that Richard Dreyfuss appearead by one second on the Oscar winner movie THE GRADUATED (dustin hoffman) ?

  • He was only 29 years old when he won. The only actor who was younger was Adrian Brody.

  • His woman's elation at the end -- priceless.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this! I'd love to see more old school Stallone stuff on youtube! :-)

  • The man was a DOLL..i had such a crush on him..still do..

  • Stallone is an ass.

  • The only memorable performance out of the nominees was Travolta in SNF...

    Tony Manero is a legend.

"i work on my hair a long time,& you hit it,he hits my hair"

"hey you assholes almost broke my pussy finger"

  • stalone is such a douche bag

  • richard dreyfuss had 2 films in 1977 the goodbye girl and close encounters of the third kind

  • Wow. That's a strange list of actors, really.

  • Wasn't he like 30 years old when he won it?? lol he has grey hair?

  • @Paperbagman555 And other than that he hardly looks over 30---or 35. XD

  • OK Why this man isn't working nowadays? Please, some talented, driven and visionary director reading this out there, HIRE HIM!

  • Heath Ledger got his inspiration for the Joker from Dreyfuss's first line.

  • Am I the only one who thinks Richards Dreyfuss was attractive? I know it sounds weird, am I crazy or something? :P

  • @dani9714 Yes, he really was attractive. And brilliant, too. He really deserved to win for one of the best movies out there.

  • @dani9714 No, Richard Dreyfuss was insanely adorable in the 70s. You are not crazy.

  • Too bad because Travolta was really awesome in Saturday Night Fever.

  • Richard Dreyfuss won that Oscar where he won it well-deserved. He's a brillaint actor and my best actor. I love his jokes as well as his acting.

  • One thing i find funny with Stallone presenting and Travolta being a nominee is that Stallone would later direct Travolta in the SNF sequel

  • Very well deserved although I would have choose Marcello Mastroianni.

  • Does anyone know what year this was?

  • @gorsegner 1978

  • @gorsegner April 1978, movie came out in 77

  • mark hammil

  • Best best Actor Richard Dreyfuss!!!!!

  • Best Best Best Best Actor Richard Dreyfuss!))

  • richard dreyfuss is amazing in almost every movie he appears in, even if the movie itself isn't very good. he should have won again when he was nominated for mr. holland's opus. another amazing performance. hope to see more great performances in the future.

  • I liked him in Close Encounters.

  • is was very wicked cute!

  • saw una giornata particolare last night and mastroianni's performance was outstanding. But I admit Dreyfuss was also pretty good in the goodbye girl.

  • stallone is a dumb

  • @locyka19 HE is not! He's hot as hell! And i bet is even better looking than you'll ever be

  • i agree pianoman...richard was wicked cute when he was younger!

  • it is ABSURD that richard dreyfuss got more applause than marcello mastroianni.

  • @ooks Not at that moment in time. I'm not sure if you've seen the Goodbye Girl but

Dreyfuss in The Goodbye Girl is maybe the best comedic actor portrayal ever.

  • @Bigbadben7 i have seen the goodbye girl, actually, and i find it pretty fucking insufferable.

  • Stalone looks really pissed...

  • @SonoPortoricano Probably because he was asked to present an award he lost the previous year.

  • is it just me or was Richard Dreyfuss WICKED cute when he was younger? :D just sayin'

  • @pianoman8882 Dude, he's totally still cute... in an old guy sorta way...

  • @pianoman8882 It's not just you. He was something else!

  • @pianoman8882 - It's not just you. He was pretty damned adorable and I think that is just simply one quality he'll carry with him until the end. : )

  • @pianoman8882 hes still a sexy old man :P aha

  • @pianoman8882

i agree dreyfuss was totally cute when he was younger. especially around the early to mid 80's.

  • @pianoman8882 Yeah thats all you there bud.

  • @pianoman8882 you aren't the only one.. :-)

  • @pianoman8882 I think you're right.

  • @pianoman8882 no it's not just you, he is WICKED hot! ;D

  • @pianoman8882 Oh yeah! Wicked cute! :)

  • @pianoman8882 so are you saying he is ugly now? it's 2011

  • Who's the lady at the end?? I think she had multiple orgasms!!!

  • travolta's mullet is epic!!!!

  • Never has an Oscar been so richly deserved.

  • @ZenBarracuda You really think he was better than Burton in Equus? Really? -his performance in Equus was possibly the best performance I've ever seen captured on film-Burton was epic, outstanding in that film-Dreyfuss was better in The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz-maybe because I'm a Mordechai Richler-phile-who knows?

  • "Want me to do it by memory?" -- I guess the cue card guy wasn't fast enough for old Sly ;)

  • awww 2:06

  • I thought Woody Allen should've gotten the Oscar not Richard Dreyfuss. His performance was spectacular!

  • I thought John Travolta deserved the Oscar.

  • @KellyGreen5555 I agree with you. That was an unbelievable role for him.

  • A nice little surprise there - this was a good category that year, but I think Dreyfuss deserved to win. He was why that film was good.

  • he is so far the youngest best actor winner..can't imagine~

  • @willy0901 adrien brody was a year younger at 29 when he won.

  • @willy0901 adrien brody was a year younger

  • wAS dREYFUSS HIGH?

  • @selma1930 I don't know if he was there, but he had severe drug related problems at the time.

  • He played himself, an annoying guy. Marcello Mastroianni or Woody Allen or Richard Burton or John Travolta should've won LOL.

  • John Travolta should have won

  • Marcello Mastroianni SO should have won that evening for his brilliant turn in "Una Giornata Particolare". Dreyfuss would ruin his career in the years that followed, only to recover a decade or so later.

  • @zim83 A wonderful actor who suffered from his own hubris.

  • dude awesome videos!!!

  • Travolta was nominated for Sat Night Fever? No %$#@ing way.

  • @fullmetalmedji it was an amazing performance!

  • marcello!

  • Annoying ass dreyfuss. Someone should have punched his ass.

  • @BitchErica1 wh yare you such a bitch stop PMS'ING

  • It was a very good year for movies :)

  • Rarely before or since has an actor made such an annoying character so lovable as he did in The Goodbye Girl.

  • Thanks for finally putting this up. Goodbye Girl is the definitive rom-com -- with a flawless performance from Richard Dreyfuss.

  • Wrong Richard.
