Hunkola = idiot. I'm no Batman expert so I can't corraborate your opinion that it fucked the franchise, but . . . It was ONE VERSION of batman and certainly won't be the last. Though I'm no expert, I do know that there have been multiple themes on batman and in not every one of them was he a paragon of virtue.
@hunkola = if you payed any attention to the film its because they needed someone to blame and incase you didnt notice, just about everything he does as batman is illegal anyway!
That and they don't know how to break character. Which, even from a professional standpoint is not good. No one wants to work with lunatics. Granted, Ledger was able to contain it better than actors like Marlon Brando, and he was SUPREMELY talented. But he literally was a victim of the Joker. He killed HIMSELF with this role. It's a shame. I wish so badly we could see more of him. For Christ's sake, he was only 27 years old.
R.I.P Heath we allways worshiped you and we allways thought you where the gratest actor in the world hope you have it good at the place your at now.....
I actually went back and watched Batman Begins the other day, it's better than I remember. Still let's face it, the only reason this movie is as popular as it is, is thanks to Heath Ledger's performance. Though after watching the 1st one again I do like Scarecrow a bit more than I did the first time around.
tbh i loved darkknight but i prefered batman begins but thn i was always eager to see scarecrow hit the big screen! i dont like how alot o people who'd usualy slag you for loving batman suddenly felt compelled to say how muc they love it now just for ledger dying. hell i loved batman even when the wrecking ball that is schumacher took over :P
ooh I lurve the fact that people are basing the dark knight on film character basis rather than graphic novels.... hmmm The Dark Knight is a being of fear. Not a super hero.
hunkola your an idiot. the batman frenchise was fucked years ago. chris nolan rescued batman from the camp, no brainer and exploited bitchfuck from the 2previous films... nipple nuts wtf!
I like how Heath Ledger's joker showed how bothered he was by being called "freak" or "crazy" that stuff you gotta be in character to really convey it so well.
In this movie, The Joker symbolizes disorder, whereas Batman represents the establishment (specifically the bush administration)
In order to avoid chaos, the establishment must use all means necessary, even invasive ones, to "protect" the populace.

Hunkola, No, Nolan followed the COMIC BOOK'S CANON PLOT JACK-ASS!!!! IF you actually READ COMICS you'd know that. Remember that in the 1989 Batman It started off with the cops and Gotham already hating Batman and thinking he was a killer. So I guess Burton fucked it up too then huh? wow your level of ignorance amazes me.. keep your thoughtless opinions to yourself... he didnt intentionally kill dent, he saved someones life in the process. BATMAN is a hero no matter what, why do you think hes called THE DARK KNIGHT??

SHUDUP DUMB BUTT. the way he did the movie was Great!, I wouldnt have had it any other way. he didnt kill any cops on purpose and besides, that wasnt the first time that Batman has killed Harvey Dent! and its not like he really could have kept Harvey from dying, not without messing up all of Gotham's faith in him!
the only reason is batman didnt want gotham to know about harvey being a killer therefor he took the blame. i dont even think harveys dead i mean he survied his face being burnt to shit and a car crash
Batman in the film took the blame for the murders of Harvey Dent to keep the hopes of all the people of Gotham up towards doing good for their city because they believed in Harvey Dent's crusade against criminals.
Batman is the true hero in the film, and If they make a third movie in Nolan's image I think they will go further into that plot of Batman being looked upon as a murdering vigilante by the public but being a righteous crusader against the criminals that plague Gotham.
if nolan made things so fd up like u say, is only because he is capable of making things right in batman 3, even better than both previous movies plot twists
batman sacrificed himself for the sake of the people he has been protecting. like he says during the ending montage "sometimes, the truth isnt enough. sometimes people deserve to have their faith rewarded". only gordon and alfred will know batman's main purpose.
oh and you think Nolan screwed up the franchise? maybe you should look at Batman & Robin again, and find out why Schumacher's decision for the nipples was a bad idea and everything else with that film
He didn't kill anyone, and Dent was going to shoot the kid, that's why Batman jumped on him.
The comic books were brighter and less brutal, obviously, but think about it: a guy who dresses up as a bat and fights crime at night? It wouldn't have been such a poignant film if it didn't have that dark feel - it's a cinematic masterpiece and a great interpretation of Batman.
And Nolan is one of the best-noted directors in the world right now, and yes, he's British - no wonder he's a success.
no batman was always accused of being a vigilante, beyond the law and dangerous in the original story, hes just following it. Dent was made a hero at his funeral at the end of the film. The next film might suck but its nothing to do with Dent or Batmans rep. just the way its made
Batman is not a superhero. He's a crime fighter. He has no super powers. Just fucked a successful franchise? Wow, you are either looking for attention or are just plain stupid.
Okay, riddle me this- would you prefer a series with Nolan at the head, or bloody Schumacher? Have it remain successful, or let it fall into a quagmire from which it will never surface and let it rot?
I doubt that nolan cant turn him back into a superhero. Plus that is what happeed to batman before. Batman is always a vigalante and to be arrested by the cops. That was the whole point, he is what others cant be. He can be bad without really being bad.
batman didn't purposely kill Dent, he pretty much did that to himself when they fell off the ledge. Also batman never killed any cops either. He simply disabled them to save the hostages in the building. There's nothing wrong with cops getting the sh*t kicked out of them if it's for a good cause.
dude.......no he didnt he made him what batman was.....batman did actually beat cops too if necessary and he never killed a cop in the movie and if you actually saw the movie harvey killed himself
and do you want skin tight bright grey and kapow flying across the screen? batman is an anti-hero not a superhero. he's nuts just like joker, scarecrow, two-face. the whole franchise is based on psychologically unstable characters. bruce wayne was messed up as a kid by watching his parents get shot dead so his sense of morality is out of proportion to a normal person. chris nolan's batman is closer to the original character than most other film representations, even micheal keaton's
Batman didnt kill anyone, he doesnt want to be the hero of the city, so he said to blame it all on him, not harvey, who was the city's civil hero, he did that to save harvey's image, because people didnt know that he went "crazy". understand the movie before you make a comment like that, douche
I don't understand why Batman didn't blame everything on the Joker to clear Dent's name. It doesn't make any sense even if it is for continuity of the storyline.
You're going to get a shitload of down votes from an army of Heath Ledger fans and sympathetics who can't conjure up a decent argument against you. They're all gonna' go after you now, lol.
Well, obviously, there will only be one(two at the most) to this series of Batman. If played well, they could EASILY get one great Batman movie out of everybody being against him.
Then in thirty more years of so, they will start over with a new plot for Batman just like they did last time. (:
I wouldn't say Nolan f***ed up the franchise. They always have ways of bringing back a franchise like Batman. And I don't remember Batman killing cops in The Dark Knight. And Nolan's a decent director all round I would say.
easy...they'll make batman a hero again cause they'll get someone to reveal that dent did the murders...batman will be a hero for taking the blame...and whoever the new villains are...he'll pwn em and become awesome xD
thats kinda harsh, i have to say that it wasnt the best choice for Batman because it made him more of a dark brooding guy, but it was a gd take on the franchise and a very good film, btw dont insult ppl cus there british, its a low form of insult.
He only *loosely* killed Harvey Dent, and I don't recall that he ever killed any cops. Disabled them, yes, but I don't believe he killed them.
Although in truth, it wouldn't bother me...*too* much if he did kill them. I think not killing them makes him more psychologically engaging, but the act of killing itself isn't out of range of the character. The early comics had him gunning the bad guys down with a gun for God's sake!
That's why Dark Knight is my least favorite out of the BIG 4 ( by the Big 4 I mean Tim Burton's darker and more gothic duet ,this one,and Batman Begins)
@Hunkola oh I'm sorry he destroyed your leather wearing childhood hero, who couldn't harm a fly, cause life is so perfect in cartoons, TDK just shows a more REAL version of him
@Hunkola There are 2 different batmans. The first one is the good clean batman, and the second one is the darker mean take no shit. It was very clear in the 2 different batman comics
He did not. If you read the comics Batman is a vigilante and has been hunted down by law enforcement several times. And if you dig deeper you'll realize a theme in the movie involving the fact that the criminals were realizing that Batman had one rule which was, not to kill. No that he is wanted for murders that Harvey Dent committed, he is re-establishing fear into the minds of criminals.
@Hunkola I really, really, dont think Nolan did enything, bad, with the Batman, he made batman a real hero, the hero they dont need, but the hero they deserve (Y)
well you'd be hard pressed to find such a good portrayal of a villain. Although it does seem to be that liking the Joker has become the "cool thing to do" but Ledger's performance was the best performance of 2008, my opinion of course.

You know he didn't REALLY kill those people, he just took the blame to keep gotham's hope.

Batman is not a superhero. He's a crime fighter. He has no super powers. Just fucked a successful franchise? Wow, you are either looking for attention or are just plain stupid.
sccitylhh 2 years ago
He isn't a murderer, he took the blame for the deaths.

Okay, riddle me this- would you prefer a series with Nolan at the head, or bloody Schumacher? Have it remain successful, or let it fall into a quagmire from which it will never surface and let it rot?
Hm, answer's obvious, huh.

I doubt that nolan cant turn him back into a superhero. Plus that is what happeed to batman before. Batman is always a vigalante and to be arrested by the cops. That was the whole point, he is what others cant be. He can be bad without really being bad.
gat0rbball 2 years ago
batman didn't purposely kill Dent, he pretty much did that to himself when they fell off the ledge. Also batman never killed any cops either. He simply disabled them to save the hostages in the building. There's nothing wrong with cops getting the sh*t kicked out of them if it's for a good cause.
Rhinelandian 2 years ago
dude.......no he didnt he made him what batman was.....batman did actually beat cops too if necessary and he never killed a cop in the movie and if you actually saw the movie harvey killed himself
andysomethinsomethin 2 years ago
and do you want skin tight bright grey and kapow flying across the screen? batman is an anti-hero not a superhero. he's nuts just like joker, scarecrow, two-face. the whole franchise is based on psychologically unstable characters. bruce wayne was messed up as a kid by watching his parents get shot dead so his sense of morality is out of proportion to a normal person. chris nolan's batman is closer to the original character than most other film representations, even micheal keaton's
Ragnarok494 2 years ago
Batman didnt kill anyone, he doesnt want to be the hero of the city, so he said to blame it all on him, not harvey, who was the city's civil hero, he did that to save harvey's image, because people didnt know that he went "crazy". understand the movie before you make a comment like that, douche

Calm down.
If you don't enjoy Nolan's take on batman then don't watch it..
whyareyousobald 2 years ago
I don't understand why Batman didn't blame everything on the Joker to clear Dent's name. It doesn't make any sense even if it is for continuity of the storyline.

You're going to get a shitload of down votes from an army of Heath Ledger fans and sympathetics who can't conjure up a decent argument against you. They're all gonna' go after you now, lol.

every good superhero franchise has a period of the public hating them think about it for a second think how many have that aspect
topspinfreekick 2 years ago
Well, obviously, there will only be one(two at the most) to this series of Batman. If played well, they could EASILY get one great Batman movie out of everybody being against him.
Then in thirty more years of so, they will start over with a new plot for Batman just like they did last time. (:

I wouldn't say Nolan f***ed up the franchise. They always have ways of bringing back a franchise like Batman. And I don't remember Batman killing cops in The Dark Knight. And Nolan's a decent director all round I would say.
sexywolfboy7 2 years ago
I don't recall Batman killing cops. As for Dent, he was a villian.
Frank15982 2 years ago
easy...they'll make batman a hero again cause they'll get someone to reveal that dent did the murders...batman will be a hero for taking the blame...and whoever the new villains are...he'll pwn em and become awesome xD

He's more than a hero now...

thats kinda harsh, i have to say that it wasnt the best choice for Batman because it made him more of a dark brooding guy, but it was a gd take on the franchise and a very good film, btw dont insult ppl cus there british, its a low form of insult.

@Hunkola Batman didn't kill any cops in Dark Knight
Equortal 2 years ago
and he actually did kill Harvey, breaking his "thou shalt not kill" rule that was like the basis of the whole film.
TiniNormi 2 years ago

And Jack Nicholson was still better anyway
Warriorcats64 2 years ago
@Hunkola oh I'm sorry he destroyed your leather wearing childhood hero, who couldn't harm a fly, cause life is so perfect in cartoons, TDK just shows a more REAL version of him
TheThirdPrestigiator 2 years ago
@Hunkola There are 2 different batmans. The first one is the good clean batman, and the second one is the darker mean take no shit. It was very clear in the 2 different batman comics
Kingshitv4 2 years ago
@Hunkola
Don't hate man, use that noggin of yours.
harveykid 1 year ago
@Hunkola I really, really, dont think Nolan did enything, bad, with the Batman, he made batman a real hero, the hero they dont need, but the hero they deserve (Y)

i like how no one notices "batman begins" and everyones so "into" the dark knight because of the joker.
8Dgman 3 years ago
well you'd be hard pressed to find such a good portrayal of a villain. Although it does seem to be that liking the Joker has become the "cool thing to do" but Ledger's performance was the best performance of 2008, my opinion of course.
Ichorid55 3 years ago
Because ''Batman begins was boring
and 'The dark knight' was way better
and it had more action and plus
health was a great joker (srry if i spelled the name wrong)
