I thought I would throw a peice of advise your way....I would have a small cable attached to your little vintage motor, just incase the 2x4 split and broke, you wouldn't lose that little gem to the bottom of the lake.
Just finished mine for my canoe and it came out great thanks for sharing ..I used 3/8" 16 wing nuts instead makes it easier to to tighten...my husband is thinking of doing something like this for his kayak but we'll see...
