was playing heard on the German public radio station, "Bremen 1" - superb oldie, which is always great to hear. R.I.P. Buddy - all my love for 2012 from Germany.
Hey Man, ur a big man indeed, a few negative comments on here & all the ones Ive read you have answered very positively & with dignity. As far as the clips concerned, I hear you when you say it was 7 or 8 years ago, I hate seeing clips of old performances Ive done. For my part, I think its fine & trust me, I know my Buddy stuff very well >>> Keep keepin that fien name alive & good luck with all future shows ... In a world of negative & aggressive Internet comments your a huge part of the cure :)
The guitar is not heavy enough on the down beat. It should be accentuating it. "Buddy" is httin' it on the up beat & the "Crickets" are hitting it where it should be. The strumming hand needs to be heavier on the down, not the up strum if that makes any better sense. Only real things I see missing. Doesn't matter who wrote it. Buddy made it his. Singer doesn't have the yelp [Texas twang] in his voice as Buddy did. The beginning should almost be like he's hick-upping. Great tribute band though.
Great work! I read a comment about the drums not going like that. You're telling me that they played Peggy Sue live the same was that was on the studio version. Sorry man, they didn't. What you hear on the studio versions isn't always how they played em. Let's see your Buddy Holly tribute, then we'll talk. Great music you're doing! don't listen to them haters. You did a very good job! Rock and Roll isn't meant for note for note, it comes from the heart and soul.
Tribute shows and bands are tricky because people always expect to hear things "the right" way - i.e. the way THEY heard it the first time they heard it.
Thumbs up, man! tight sound for a 3 pc group! i played in a band that can't get that sound even with 6 people. One day I'll do a 3 pc when the right people come along.

Thanks CC, ironically that's almost word for word what the newspaper said - the headline was "Buddy must have been smiling down" (Cornwall reporter). Hope we can get out west for a tour (preferably in the summer) sometime in the next couple of years.
I was in boot camp at San Diego the night Buddy Holly died. I remember our old gruffy Chief brought a radio in so we could listen to the stories and the music. So sad.
I used to go to my grans every Sunday for dinner in the 60s. Dad's younger brothers played records on a huge 'radiogram' by Little Richard, Fats Domino - and Buddy Holly. For me, Buddy was the best. I wanted to copy his hiccup style of singing. I wanted to - and did - learn to play the guitar. To Charles Hardin Holley, professionally known as Buddy Holly; thank you so much for all you've done, we'll have a party together one day - and that'll be the day. God Bless.
That was absolutely great. I damn near wept watching this. It was almost like being back in time seeing the real thing. These guys put on a phenomenal performance. Thanks for sharing the vid.
Heh, watch the people closely. They never just sit still. They never even wiggle. They aren't real. Or are just a photo image put in front of the video. Like cardboard cutouts.
No they are quite real - check out Buddy Holly Live! Oh Boy encore from the same concert and you'll see them move - They were just listening to the show - we don't do any video image tricks
My apologise, rockabilly. I just didn't look closely enough the first time at the audience. But I really wasn't trying to be criticle. Thanks for the video.
This was recorded live at The Weaveshed Performance Arts Centre in Cornwall, Ontario close to the Quebec border. This was the second of five sold out shows.

I never realized a stand up bass was that big, or that you don't have to keep it still when you play it. lol.
latinaleprechaun 2 years ago
That looks like a 1/2-size bass. A 3/4 is the norm; a 4/4 is huge. He also doesn't use the end pin to make it taller.
gpietsch 2 years ago
i love the way you can never hear the stand up bass live. the bass player wouldn't have to know how to play a note
