  • I'm still laughing that you just blocked me. It would be more funny if it wasn't so astoundingly pathetic. You really are completely unable at defending your false view chris-- its absolutely hysterical.

What I left on your video is what happened historically. It undermines your 18th century schismatic theology? Yes. But that is the truth, "maybe you're afraid of the truth, (sic) like most people".

    Take care chris.

  • Please, pray for all Christians, Orthodox, Protestant, and Catholics. Time is too short for bickering. Please pray for the Pope and all the clergy. Please pray for the faithful so that we may not fail in our faith for it is impossible to please G-d without faith. Please pray for Mother Church. Time is short. Please pray and please love unconditionally. Love will cover a multitude of our sins.

  • I converted from Calvinizm to Catholicism because our Savior, Jesus Christ is with the Catholic Church. This is the truth and undeniable. If you are ouside the Catholic Chuch and denounce the Catholic faith, it is apparent that you just envy the Catholic Church. No matter how hard you try to criticize the Catholic Church, it will be the main stream of Christianity eternally as it has been since the very time of its foundation by the hand of Jesus Christ.

  • lets see purgatory is a concept not found in scriptures... it is a concept that is found not from the teachings of jesus but was rather introduced....

so how can the RCC try and justify purgatory with scripture.... a clear problem for the RCC ....

you should say the christian believers.. because christian was first.... the term catholic came much later.....

catholic was used as a seperate label...

the RCC belief system has more holes then swiss cheese....

  • Your presumption that "all doctrines have to be found in scripture" ITSELF is not found in scripture, so your ancillary assertion is arbitrary.

Secondly, the idea that during judgment we will be cleansed of our sins through fire (1 Cor. 3:10-15) is one found word for word in scripture and was believed as early as the 1st C A.D (as well in Judiasm: 2 Macc 12:46-48). It is your protestant beliefs that are the traditions of men that came about in the 16th century, and weren't believed before that.

  • You have also been lied to on the nature of the Catholic Church, the true church that Christ established was always called Catholic, and if you are intellectually honest and not blinded by protestant ideology you will not deny this--- St. Ignatius, Bishop of Antioch and long time disciple of St. John the Apostle writes at the very beginning of the 1st Century: "Where the bishop is present, there is the CATHOLIC CHURCH" (To the Smyrnaeans 8:2).

No sir, it is your terms, beliefs that came later.

  • @ loudmouthspeaker. Amen, brother! They justify purgatory by the unbiblical and uninspired book of macabees and the ONE comment that nothing sinful will enter heaven. But, we know the truth, dont we?

  • We know Jesus and the Apostles used this book along with the others in the old testament, and it was a part of scripture up until Luther came to believe he had the authority to remove books from the bible (He didn't).

Can I add books to the Bible? If not, why?

Do you know when the 27 books of the New Testament were canonized? What Church had the authority to truly Canonize them? What did this same church, with by this same authority say about the deuterocanonical books of Scripture?

  • Can you prove your first statement, please? Show me where Jesus quoted anything from the aprocryphal books.

No, you can not add to the bible, because God tells us not to. No church has the right to "canonize" them. Jesus Christ is the ONLY church, not some perverted, opulant, rich, pedophilic, antichrist worldwide organisation like the catholic church.

  • It is a fact of history that the Greek Septuagint was used by the Apostles and by Christ. The hebrew rendering Luther appealed to in order to remove books from the bible didn't come about until late 1st century. The "Bible" is a set of 27 books, letters and epistles put together in the 4th century. The Holy Spirit used the Church who had correct via the oral tradition of Christ and they put together which books were true and which ones were false. Before that there was not a NT Canon.

  • Remember that the Independents are Non-denominational Protestants minded Christianity.

  • Independents (about 22000)

    Protestants (about 9000)

    "Marginals" (about 1600)

    Orthodox (781)

Roman Catholics (242) all in union with the Bishop in Rome.

    Anglicans (168)

So the 33,000 number is from the total of these 6 mega-blocs:

    22000 + 9000 + 1600 + 781 + 242 + 168 = 33,000+

  • I'm curious about that number 242. Does 242 amount to the total number of rites of Catholicism? If not, do you know how that number is broken down or where I can find that information?

  • great video

  • btw I always thought transcendental arguments came more from Reformed churches and Catholics weren't too fond of them.

  • this is true. I don't argue it quite the same as others though

  • Theologica

33000 denominations is the total number of denominations of all churches (including Catholic and Orthodox denominations).

There are about 8973 protestant denominations (note that even this number is also misleading because it includes different denominations of Mormonism and Jehovah's witnesses that would not be considered Orthodox protestants)

DrOakley1689 has youtube videos and blog entries explaining how Catholic apologists mis-cite this figure.

  • unfortunately, the numbers are not inflated. There is more real research out there if you care to look. James White is probably not the best place to get your information. You can check the 'World Christian Database' or 'Global Christianity'

Regardless, 8973 is still far too many and Catholic apologists don't need to mis-cite the figures the figures speak for themselves. I don't think any Protestant would disagree that there are far too many divisions.

  • good job. i like, i like.

  • Interesting video. Thanks again.

  • well this is going to have been the easiest one to make.. the ones to follow will be interesting to say the least. expect them up in the next week.

  • Peter s church was originally in Jerusalem, and Peter had to be rebuked by Paul over the Law and circumcision...while I agree the Catholic church has its place in history, I find the parallels that history plays out between the individuals in the Gospels and the church today awe inspiring-Paul seemed to be me the first protestant, someone who wasnt an original follower of Christ, was sent by God to evangelize the world, found churches, and even help keep a check and balance on the church in Jers.

  • thanks for your thoughts
