Peter s church was originally in Jerusalem, and Peter had to be rebuked by Paul over the Law and circumcision...while I agree the Catholic church has its place in history, I find the parallels that history plays out between the individuals in the Gospels and the church today awe inspiring-Paul seemed to be me the first protestant, someone who wasnt an original follower of Christ,was sent by God to evangelize the world, found churches, and even help keep a check and balance on the church in Jers.
