Well, the Gripen can hardly match with the EF2000 and the Rafale technically because it's the oldest of the three. But Switzerland doesn't need overexpensive hightech hunters, what our country needs is a simple, allround interceptor for air patrol and providing air superiority. For the mountainous country it's important to have a plane which can start on snow or even grit, this benefical Swedish bird is just what our air force needs ;)

@punditkitchenfailure well at the time we maded JAS it was so mutch problem it's sick the first years it crashed because the technology was to hard, and now we have the new version Gripen NG/IN that is ALOT better then the last once srry for my spelling :)

You swiss people have done everything right. Well it seeims, that my country ( Switzerland ) is order 22 Saab JAS 39 C/D Gripen.....No offence but I rather prefer EF2000 instead

EF2000 is a Plastic Duck and haves many Problem

My Favorite is the Rafale!

It will be the Gripen NG (E/F) for Switzerland ;). Gripen will fit perfectly for Swiss airforce, short takeoff/landing routes, you can use the same infrastructure as for the F-5. Whit the new F414 engine, AESA radar är Skyward G Infra Red trackingsystem the Gripen will be the most cost effective killer on the battlefield.

@SUIBlade They chose the NG as it's called now. I like the EF and Rafale, but if you compare any spec (from radar, EWS etc) you will see pretty much no difference except MTOW. So as fighters NG and EF are pretty equal and the C/D is poorer.

When you look at turnaround time, maintainence etc you will see that Girpen costs 50% in purchase price, has higher avaliability and a turnaround time (refuel + rearm) of 10 minutes! Check the details and youll see that Gripen NG by far is the best choice.

@SUIBlade The plane they will get is the new E/F. So Gripen C/D was the one doing test flights against Rafale and Eurofighter, but when jets are delivered they get the better E/F.
