  • Music is subjective. Musicals push a whole different scale. Bette Midler isn't sitting around comparing herself to Patti LuPone or vice versa. True fans recognize that music isn't the same for everyone.

  • Exciting to imagine Streisand and Anne Hathaway in this scene. Midler was too screechy and over the top to garner much sympathy in this role. Vocals were only passable.

  • I love both movies, im a huge Bette Midler fan, Cynthia Gibb did a good job! I know this is not the best movie .. but somehow it's adictive, and much better than most movies they make today. Patti LuPone is a godess, but i do enjoy more Bernadette Peters.

  • Something about this movie always feels so cheap to me. I think Bette could have been quite good if the director had reigned her in a little bit more. She's too hammy for the role and I usually love Bette.

  • I kinda like Natalie Wood's performance more than Cynthia Gibbs. It doesn't feel as strong as hers

  • This is not as powerful as the LuPone performance...

  • "Show us your talent!"

    *she pops out a leg*

    "THAT'S IT!"
