Sometimes I think it's the previous people that messed up the games/manuals. The only copy of Devil Summoner Gamestop had when I went to complete my collection has a bunch of shit scribbled in the manual and I'm glad I'm not the only one annoyed by the stupid ass stickers. stickers should be put on plastic wrap or something. they ruin the cover art and then it leaves a mark if ya take it off. I'm in the UK but gamestation and grainger games (my 2 local game shops) do it and its OK on new games since they come pre plasticed but not on preowned ones.
If they want to use stickers they need to 1. Test their damn used games before putting them on shelves and 2. just shrinkwrap the damn cases and put the sticker on the outside of the shrinkwrap. My local gamestore (named Replays) does it with most of their stuff and it works fine.
My mother bought me a game as a gift (Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3). It had a 'new' sticker on it. NEW. And there was no plastic wrap on the game, there was all kinds of damage on the front of the case AND they even reversed the insert because the damage was on the insert too.......... So WHAT THE FUCK. This game is opened and the case is damaged and its being sold as new. WHAT THE FUCK. (no, my mother didnt damage it or remove the plastic.)
i went to game stop to buy ssf43d not long ago and a used one was like 23.$ but a brand new one was like two more dollars more why buy used when you can add two more dollars for new

You did mention before (in another Gamestop rant if I remember correctly), that there aren't that many game stores in your area - OK, I can see the point. But if I would be pissed off that much, I'd simplyl stop giving those A**holes any money. Simple as that.. Can be hard if they got "that special game you were looking for", but it will pop up on ebay sooner or later.

I totally feel for you about those damn stickers, especially the ones on the spine. The worst sticker experience I ever had was when I bought a used PS2 game. It had a sticker on the front, back, and spine of the case as well as on the manual, and even the game itself..... seriously, THE CD HAD A STICKER ON IT

No one needs to know I spent $10 on Metroid Prime, but taking off the stickers leave gross leftovers which take forever to take off. I remember once I ripped the plastic trying to take off the stickers.

I know 100% what you mean about the stickers. I've been gaming since I was very young back on the nes and Ive never collected games before but I am starting to now as in I'm not getting rid of anymore games and now I hate those stickers I want my games to be in good shape 20 years from now.
On one hand I don't usually have problems removing these stickers if I do so right away and if they are relatively newly placed (not ones on a used game that has been there for 2 years, those will never come clean off). I do recommend though, when you get used games from Gamestop with the little circular sticker they use to seal the game, keep those until you've peeled the sticker off, they can be used to dab at remaining little bits of sticker shit and work well.

I'd rather get new games from Gamestop than used games. I traded in 3 EXCELLENT condition games (because I take care of my games, never EVER lend them out again) and i've had to take back the game(s) I traded them in for because I couldn't install them to my Xbox hard drive, and yes i've had to deal with those damn stickers also. Only once did I get a used game in excellent condition (Splinter Cell DA) but I had to make 2 trips to 2 different GS's to get it.
There's a number of reasons I would never go into a GameStop or EB games, and this isn't even on the list. But this is definitely a candidate for the list. The real clusterfuck of it, is when GameStop/EB buys a game from another store, and then resells the game. But as you're pulling one sticker off.. You encounter the other sticker.
GameStop price: $45
Other store price: $10
Take a couple hundred worth of games in, get $15 store credit. They fuck you left and right. Never go to GS/EB.

Remove the insert a slide a piece of cardboard in then dampen a rag with Goo Gone. Works wonders. Also dont buy a game with the tag on the insert itself. Odds are they'll get more of that game in or they have more cases behind the counter.
I used to work at EB Games (Gamestop equiv. in Australia) and I agree with you. I actually used to reprint new price stickers and take the old ones off in my spare time (It was a quiet store) just cos I couldn't fucking stand looking at it. And it bugs the SHIT out of me too. Ugh, hate those stickers! I'm done with Gamestop. Went there the other day and was going to pick up Ar Tonelico Qoga, of which they only had one in stock. Y'know NIS games come in a huge box, well, they opened the box from the top and ripped it because the box opens from the side, took the plastic game case out, unwrapped it, slapped a sticker on there, and then tried to reseal the ripped box with rubber cement and scotch tape! Of course they were selling it as new -_-
Lighter fluid can remove the adhesive on the outside stickers most of the time. Amazon is a good place to get games and they are usualy in good condition with a description of what you are getting.
Fuck gamestop!!, a racist bitch employee in Cosner's Corner, VA accused me of "...stealing all her games." as she noticed my backpack full of PS2 titles I'd bought from other Gamestops as I opened it to grab my wallet and rewards card. The "T" is for Trade, meaning it's preowned, we're meant to write that on the artwork at my store but I had a bunch of stickers with a T on them printed up from some website so we could stick them on the boxes instead of defacing the artwork. It's usually upper management's fault, the staff get chewed out if they don't have the "proper" labels on stuff.
Stickers suck fat balls like fritzlcages (see above.) best to dab some water on it if the sticker is on the plastic case. paper on paper tho, i have no remedy for that.

Don't know if you've got Blockbusters in the USA, probably do, but I went there a few months ago for GTA 4, Gears 1 and a couple of other games. First and last time I go for games. They didn't have the correct cover/case for GTA 4, so I've got the Episodes cover when I payed extra for the DLC, and the Gears game didn't even come with a fucking case. Annoying as hell.

Something I noticed something weird the last time I turned in a bunch of games. They asked me to provide my drivers license number. That may seem normal to most, but that stood out to me. Kind of invasive if you ask me. What are they going to use it for?

You get too the cash .. yougive the game they scan the coded atachment take it off and here you got a game .. than they use it for another game.. Before I went on a permanent boycotting on Gamestop, this is what I did to get rid of those GODFORSAKEN STICKERS.(yes, I hate stickers of any kind myself):
What I did was I took some canola oil, applied just a small pea sized drop to the index finger, then just rubbed it across the sticker, and left it alone for half a day. After that waiting, you can easily peel it off without it shredding because of the oil.
This applies to all types of stickers to my knowledge. It's bizarre, but it helps.8)

LI use to work at Gamestop and we had to place those stickers. Felt stupid for it If you don't like it, sometimes if you ask for a different case they will give you one. You have to be super nice about it. They have a lot in the back. Good ones. Not the cheap ass plastic ones that crack when you look at them. My store was nice about it and gave out the cases to those that really cared, but a lot of them dont'. As for the "T" I've never seen anyone do that shit, might been the previous owner. :<

On one hand I don't usually have problems removing these stickers if I do so right away and if they are relatively newly placed (not ones on a used game that has been there for 2 years, those will never come clean off). I do recommend though, when you get used games from Gamestop with the little circular sticker they use to seal the game, keep those until you've peeled the sticker off, they can be used to dab at remaining little bits of sticker shit and work well.

Solution to fawking annoying stickers (and it works 99.9% of the time for me. Lol):
-Get a rag.
-Wet it with hot water.
-Let it sit on the sticker(s) for a couple hours. (It's a long time... but hey, It friggin' works.)
-Peel/ slide sticker off. (using something with a flat edge helps a lot.)
-Admire your new, spotless game case, and a job-well-done.

I'd rather get new games from Gamestop than used games. I traded in 3 EXCELLENT condition games (because I take care of my games, never EVER lend them out again) and i've had to take back the game(s) I traded them in for because I couldn't install them to my Xbox hard drive, and yes i've had to deal with those damn stickers also. Only once did I get a used game in excellent condition (Splinter Cell DA) but I had to make 2 trips to 2 different GS's to get it.

There's a number of reasons I would never go into a GameStop or EB games, and this isn't even on the list. But this is definitely a candidate for the list. The real clusterfuck of it, is when GameStop/EB buys a game from another store, and then resells the game. But as you're pulling one sticker off.. You encounter the other sticker.
GameStop price: $45
Other store price: $10
Take a couple hundred worth of games in, get $15 store credit. They fuck you left and right. Never go to GS/EB.

Remove the insert a slide a piece of cardboard in then dampen a rag with Goo Gone. Works wonders. Also dont buy a game with the tag on the insert itself. Odds are they'll get more of that game in or they have more cases behind the counter.

I used to work at EB Games (Gamestop equiv. in Australia) and I agree with you. I actually used to reprint new price stickers and take the old ones off in my spare time (It was a quiet store) just cos I couldn't fucking stand looking at it. And it bugs the SHIT out of me too. Ugh, hate those stickers! I'm done with Gamestop. Went there the other day and was going to pick up Ar Tonelico Qoga, of which they only had one in stock. Y'know NIS games come in a huge box, well, they opened the box from the top and ripped it because the box opens from the side, took the plastic game case out, unwrapped it, slapped a sticker on there, and then tried to reseal the ripped box with rubber cement and scotch tape! Of course they were selling it as new -_-

Lighter fluid can remove the adhesive on the outside stickers most of the time. Amazon is a good place to get games and they are usualy in good condition with a description of what you are getting.

Fuck gamestop!!, a racist bitch employee in Cosner's Corner, VA accused me of "...stealing all her games." as she noticed my backpack full of PS2 titles I'd bought from other Gamestops as I opened it to grab my wallet and rewards card. I didn't want to make a scene in front of customers since I'm black in Stafford County, VA.. so I just grinned and beared her dumb comment, politely explaining to her that I wanted the original cases and manuals from other stores. The "T" is for Trade, meaning it's preowned, we're meant to write that on the artwork at my store but I had a bunch of stickers with a T on them printed up from some website so we could stick them on the boxes instead of defacing the artwork. It's usually upper management's fault, the staff get chewed out if they don't have the "proper" labels on stuff.

Don't know if you've got Blockbusters in the USA, probably do, but I went there a few months ago for GTA 4, Gears 1 and a couple of other games. First and last time I go for games. They didn't have the correct cover/case for GTA 4, so I've got the Episodes cover when I payed extra for the DLC, and the Gears game didn't even come with a fucking case. Annoying as hell.

I always keep mine on...your not playing the box..your playing the game...and if you buy it new...it's on the plastic...and if you go to trade in the used game back in a couple of months..most likely it's not going to be the same price...so that means they have to take the sticker off. I guess that's why the majority of used games found at gamestop are scratched all to hell and stickers and writing all over the place. Also, the courteous employees actually do check the disc. Also, you could ask them to make sure the disc works. You really need to get your facts straight before you complain and whine about things. In many stores in Europe they use those magnetic addons for boxes .. You get too the cash .. yougive the game they scan the coded atachment take it off and here you got a game .. than they use it for another game.. Like how great is that .. they dont waste soo much paper and glue .. and the reuse them untill they brake witch you had too su smash them to do that.

Before I went on a permanent boycotting on Gamestop, this is what I did to get rid of those GODFORSAKEN STICKERS.(yes, I hate stickers of any kind myself):
What I did was I took some canola oil, applied just a small pea sized drop to the index finger, then just rubbed it across the sticker, and left it alone for half a day. After that waiting, you can easily peel it off without it shredding because of the oil.
This applies to all types of stickers to my knowledge. It's bizarre, but it helps.8)

LI use to work at Gamestop and we had to place those stickers. Felt stupid for it If you don't like it, sometimes if you ask for a different case they will give you one. You have to be super nice about it. They have a lot in the back. Good ones. Not the cheap ass plastic ones that crack when you look at them. My store was nice about it and gave out the cases to those that really cared, but a lot of them dont'. As for the "T" I've never seen anyone do that shit, might been the previous owner. :<
