I dont think it suits what Julian Cope is saying about the romans - for him to be driving a car down a motorway - a road probably redesigned over a roman road... but of course Cope is dude, all good.
@iansw07 About those roads. When the Romans got here, those long straight tracks were already here. The Romans just hardpacked graduated stone over the surface, to march Armies up and down more easily. Look at all the pre Roman sites aligned on them. .

Haha - I like it how Julian Cope is talking about the Romans - whilst driving down one of their style straight roads - whats that all about? Why the interview in the car?
Beautifully shot accompaniment to the Modern Antiquarian. An interesting & eloquent speaker, clearly who has a great love for his subject. Thje book is a fantastic gazetteer, even if it the poetry is not to my taste & bangs on about the goddess far too much. Could benefit from a bit more archaeological, anthropoligical information that just thoughts & feelings. You miss the obvious that way & some of those interpretations just arent concurrant with what was happening in the landscape.
Couldn't BBC4 have a Cope night and reshow this and show his many musical appearances on TV, and do another show for the Stones abroad? We need a Copey night soon!
Thanks for posting this. Nice to see rock star who has a genuine interest in something other than partying and inflating their egos by getting involved in 'charidee'.
Thanks for posting this, I remember watching it on BBC2 one Saturday night about 10 years ago. A wonderful and fascinating programme presented by a truly forward thinking mofo.

I think I'm almost certain that Julian is descended from a Druid. He has "Druid blood" running through his veins!

The Drude! fuckin' right on. Great subject matter too.

from the look of it i'd think julian's coat is likely to say "Royal Mail" rather than rock star..

I think it says "L.L. Bean" on the back of Julian's coat.

Actually I was just joking, I have no idea what it says. I'd consider Julian the coolest rock star in the world if it really was an LL Bean jacket!

Is this coming on the TV?Or where can we get it?
I think thats just something like 'DOWHIGH' or 'NATIONAL RAIL' on the back of his coat by the way.The big tramp.
