just got the outside of my foot and on the under side for peroneal insertional tendonitis. hurt like hell. fot about 5 hrs felt like there was a rock in my foot.never want another one
I had a cortisone injection in my index finger today and it hurt like hell. My second one this year. Tennis injury. This 2nd injection hurt more this time than the first one, but I waited longer to get it done, probably because I remember how much it hurt me. But I have a tennis match this Saturday, so you gotta grin and bear it. Damn it!
I had my first shot today in both ankles. The shot itself didn't hurt that much. sticking the needle in was the normal discomfort. But, the medicine sorts stung a bit...but only for a little bit. I was told by my doctor to be active to help me guage if the shot helps. I hopped on one foot. I ran upand down the stairs! I jumped up and down! Things I haven't been able to do for awhile! About two hours later the pain started to creep in. Now: I CAN'T WALK!
Crazy people!!! Don't you know that cortisone causes doabetes mellitus, osteoporosis, hypertension, erectile disfunction and many other severe diseases?
The ankle was at the end of its road. Had to get if fused. I was trying to buy some time. The first couple of injections were nothing and the last on I had only lasted a few days...
I got mine in my Knee today FUCK!!!! this is the worst shot ever! Don't get I'm scared to death of needles, and the cortisone shot is the needle of all needles Geeze...Lol they gave me the injection I yelled FUCK!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!! FUCK OFF!!!! lol
My Advice, don't take this shot if you are in pain no matter how bad your in pain.. Especially in the KNEE!!!!!!
I had a shot into my toe recently, at the time it went in I had a local anesthetic but 6 hours later when that was all gone it hurt so bad I couldn't walk its settled down after a couple of days, but I am in no rush to have a second blast of cortizone.....
i had this done today but in my wrist. my ortho surgeon doesnt want to rush into surgery. i have a torn scapholunate ligament and ganglion sist deep in my wrist canal. he gave me an injection right in the joint of my wrist. EXTREMELY painful!. at first when he did it , it hurt beyond belief but subsided and now 6 hrs later its so stiff and sore and painful i can barely move it, i hope this is normal.
everybody reacts in their own way. Me, I get wicked wicked tired and sleep for like 8 hours after wards and it hurts and is stiff for like 3 days then I get SOME relief. My first shot was like night and day, now this time I haven't gotten any relief and I'm going for my third on on Friday. Mine is in my upper spine. I have a herniated disc.
i get pain a fair bit, doing supid things like putting on mascara and at work, im an accountant so have a bit of computer use and writing. if its not affecting work or anything maybe you could put it off longer.
Ah... I went to see the DR. today and he suggested that I wait a few more weeks before we take any more action. I am making progress so its good but too early to tell he said as the effects of the shot could wear off. He said that I shouldn't have cortisone but every 5 months or so. I guess we'll see if it works. He said that if the cortisone wears off, we'd just do the surgery. Again, I'll keep you all posted.
Firstly good luck at the doctors! I personally have just had one injection and found that while it helped a bit the effects did not last which is common. My doctor basically said i can have more but recommends a maximium of 4 with at least 4 months in between. im guessing your in a different country to me as i am on a 6 month waiting list just to see a specialist so dont know to much about the surgery but if u r only prolonging it id say go for it. do you only have pain when doing that?
I got a cortisone shot today and... I am not afraid of needles and I didn't think too much about the pain but... DAMN!!!!!! This really hurt! I have tenosynovitis in the wrist and the first jab of the needle wasn't too bad. Then the dr jabbed around a bit more and hit the tendon dead on and I jumed and yelled "OhMyGOD"!! That was some serious pain! I hope it works because he said it will require surgery if it doesn't
After a series of about 6+ shots from the doctor, the final shot was not bad, it just hurt like hell when he pulled the needle out an applied pressure with his thumb to stop the bleeding. Talking about hitting a sore spot. I don't think it was as bad as your dead on tendon poke.
I finally had the surgery, complete ankle fusion last August 08'. It is healing, but not fast enough. Not as sore as it was prior to the surgery.
i have tenosynovitis of the wrist too. lol. i could have written your whole post! lol. i have had it for 9months now and am well and truely over it! good luck with the cortisone. hope it works better for you than it for me!
Well, I go back to see the Dr. on Monday so we'll see what happens. The cortisone worked a little. there is still some tendernedd when I hold my thumb and try to bend my wrist. I am gonna suggest another shot and if he thinks it's not a good idea, I guess I'll go ahead with surgery. I also heard that the cortisone would be something I would need to get over and over again. Does anyone know if the effects wear off in time or would I be better off just going under the knife?
i got one today, when my physio at the adidas clinic did it i was like "o is that it..." once done it doesn't hurt that much after a few hours, now i feel like i have a broken leg and ankle
oh my gosh, I had this done on the top of my foot, TODAY, and I can tell you this. I screamed and kinda jerked, so that only made it bleed alot. This people that I watched get this done are alot more tolerant that me.

I've had two. One in my ankle and one in my wrist. The wrist definitely hurt more. I couldn't even watch my ortho do it much less film it.

why is your foot infected?
GovWillKillU 2 years ago
My foot was not infected. Arthritis... It was bone to bone contact and a lot of inflammation.

You have to draw back first to ensure you aren't in a blood vessel...get a new doctor/nurse.
