Look at the Making of Thriller Michael Peters says himself that MJ is a dancer in his soul.So when MJ was tap dancing on the Jacksons Variety Show Jeffrey Daniels was rsponsible for that as well.That MJ didn't know how to dance until he met Jeffrey Daniels.So when MJ did the Billie Jean video all of those dance moves that he had been working on by himself is dance moves that Jeffrey Daniels taught him.I feel like JD gets more credit for MJ's talent then MJ himself.

Let me just put it this way because I'm tired of people discrediting MJ's dancing.Jeffrey Daniels may have helped MJ choreograph Bad and Smooth Criminal and he may have taught MJ how to do the Moonwalk,but he didn't teach MJ how to dance.MJ as a kid watched James Brown on tv and that's how he learned how to dance.MJ influences are James Brown,Sammy Davis Jr.,Jackie Wilson,and Fred Astaire,all performers who came before Jeffrey Daniels had a big influence on MJ's dancing and the way he performs.

@tokersrule Who is "THEY"? Daniels IS a superstar in the dance world. Jackson was a superstar in the entertainment world. Jackson sought out Daniels to choreograph some of his vids. In interviews, Jackson ALWAYS gave credit to others, THAT is what made him great.

I love Michael and he is a natural dancer. However, Jeffrey Daniel did show Michael some of his best moves from those in Smooth Criminal and Bad. It was just that Michael took the moves and ran away with them.

I never stated that Michael was not the king of pop and dance. You are preaching to the choir. I am just giving Jeffrey credit for the Smooth Criminal and Bad choreography. Michael was the master of adding his touch including spins, standing on his toes, and all of his other signature moves. Just like Michael Peters, Jeffrey brought the street element. Believe me, I am a big Michael fan and would never discredit his natural dance, rhythm and incomparable style.

It would be wrong to put it as 'so so taught MJ how to DANCE' because 'dancing' comes naturally to us. However, in the beginnings, Michael was untrained and learned from what he saw, he had a natural gift and being able to learn and perform the physically complicated moves of legends at such a young age just by watching it on TV. It would make more sense to say 'so so taught him THIS MOVE', know what I mean? Anyway, credit to Jeff and those who have helped Michael find his style. Much respect.

MJ used to watch James Brown and various others of his influences on TV when he was a child and used to dance in front of the TV, imitating their moves. He was a good learner, MJ, and never failed to credit those he learnt from. When he was with the Jackson 5, he would merge all of the styles together. Later, he hired Jeffrey and various legendary dancers to help him with choreography and teach him some new moves.

Jeffery Daniels is just ONE person that has influenced Michael Jackson.. What makes Michael the GREATEST, is not that he can do what Daniels does, it's not that he can emulate some things fred estaire did, james brown did, and so on.. It's the fact he is diverse enough to know the basics of many different dance styles and put them together in a way that is completely ART.
