  • Awesome view. Gives us a perfect example of what we should see when hitting off grass; divots past the ball at impact.

  • his head is really behind the ball at impact

  • Useless view, besides tigers talent lies at swing correction.his natural swing is not something to aim for.his putting and chipping are great not his irons or dtives

  • @craighambo Why would you not try to emulate/learn from the swing that won the slam...drives are overrated....if you were anything other than a casual observer of the game its your 2nd and 3rd shots that count...

  • @PUArtista Ben Hogan said what I am about too. The Drive, Approach(s) and putt are all equally important. If you hit the ball in the fairway- it makes your approach and usually putt easier. Tiger would win tournaments by more then one or two strokes if he had been able to put it in the fairway consistently.

  • Hmm, i watcing this I think I am too wide in my stance. Heck thats his 4 iron and my 7 iron stance is wider than that.

  • Forward Press .....insteresting........

  • i dont get why people say this is pointless.

  • How can you see a wide turn from that!

  • By the look of it, he's hitting a 3/4 four iron, that would explain the narrow stance, he takes his left arm back to 9 o'clock and saws off the finish. That's why his stance is so narrow

  • I have that same hat!

  • could be the stupidest idea ever.

  • I like how he puts the ball in the corner of a divot

  • @Daniel39363 your supposed to do that. it keeps from tearing up the entire driving range

  • @Daniel39363 goes to show how many balls he hit haha... and or good practice for any environment :p

  • ..the weight shift gets the shoulders to deliver the club on plane...S&T will go away like so many bandaids made for golfers

  • c`mon this view is useless , you dont learn anything by just looking his super narrow stance , i use that stance with a wedge not with a 4 iron :S

  • He is stsnding close to the ball. but im sure he knows what he is doing

  • in golf its not always how ure swing looks but the results you get from it and the little things like looking at the bottom of the ball and concentrating on it and looking at the flag ang getting your knees feet shoulder in paralel and the fixing back on the ball and keeping the follow through and not bobing your head up and down

  • watch closely...when he does his foward press, preswing, his body moves with it (his right knee comes pushes inward slightly) and at the same time as his hands are coming foward, his head is starting to move back...i think theres something to this...also his head looks so far behind the ball at impact...it looks as if hes just picking the ball of the turf...

  • Is it just me or does his stance seem really narrow compared to most golfers?

  • @qbb01 - i guarantee your swing doesn't look EXACTLY like this or else u would get the same results. noone has the same exact golf swing. it might be similar. u might just need to work on your rythym and work on getting your hips and hands through the ball

  • That was pretty stupid. It doesn't show anything useful at all

  • Like it!

  • yeah basically he wants his left shoulder behind that ball then he starts with that leg and notice how he keeps his head DOWN completely

  • Comment removed

  • that's very cool...so much for not moving your head.

  • @briandwright007 haha! That's what they say to beginning golfers. I take lessons from Butch Harmon's Institute (tiger's old coach) and they say that advanced golfers have to shift their weight, and the easiest way to do so is moving your head foward.

  • This point of view is awesom.

Take a look at my youtube page for some more cool golf videos.

    Just klick on my name

  • stack and tilt fails to get the shoulders behind the hips in the backswing. it is essential for hitting solid consistent shots. the hips are left of the shoulders at setup. the hips push the shoulders to the right in the backswing. this ensures the hips to pass the ball before the shoulders in the downswing automatically.

  • the very wide angle lens on this camera distorts the image and makes it seem like everything is bending from left to right, its called a semi fish eye lens , in reality everything is completely square, defeats the object I reckon?

  • does it look to anyone else that he has the face way open? must be hitting a fade.

  • yeah hes probably hitting a little bit of a cut

  • His stance is open to help clear his hips in time through impact. His swing speed is so fast he needs to do this or block out shots short and right. This gives the illusion his face is open, but I don't think it is...IMHO.

  • tiger ha the same swing as me

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder if they used this camera on a Stack and Tilt pro...I wonder if on the takeaway...Whether you would see less head "sway"??? Theorotically, with Stack and Tilt, the head stays centered...So with the head camera angle...on the backswing...the sight of the ball would not be altered. In tigers perspective...on the backswing...you can see how the head rotates...and thereby changing the ball/eye perspective.

  • Agreed

  • his stance looks strange there...

  • actually his stance is ducked for free movement of his hips :P

  • thats sweet

  • thats cool

  • The 4-iron ratio of backswing to downswing time is much quicker than with the driver. I suspect this is because his backswing is shorter with his 4-iron. But I'm no rocket scientist.

  • I think they should put a camera on the ball...

  • it would probably break

  • you would get dizzy

  • Mine looks exactly like this but i don't get the same results!

  • @qbb01 bullshit....

  • I don't know how people can say this is worthless. I think it's a great view. So much for the "take the club straight back for the first 12 inches" tip.

  • my pro says when u go staright back in your swing theres lees impact zone at the bottom of your swing ,but when u go round theres more chance youll strike the ball at the last part of the downswing its difficult to to explain but ask the pro at ure club or sumf

  • notice forearm rotation on takeaway not super wrist cock like so many ams do.

  • Good eye! You are so right! Just wanted to say thanks for pointing that out! I was just thinking to myself that I didnt learn much from that angle! I know the forearm rotation is a good move, but it is nice to see it from that angle from Tiger. Nice reinforcement for me.

  • well that was a waste of everyone's time lol

  • this is a good video because it shows that tiger turns his head to the right at the beginning of his swing. this allows him to make a wider turn because his body is not fighting as much resistance. for any amateur who is trying to make a wider turn, just move your head a little bit to the right at the beginning of the swing.

  • great comment, i dont need to comment:) this is all about where he keeps his head not where he looks.

  • this is a very cool lookin video. no one has ever seen tiger woods from his 'own eyes' sort of speak

  • that makes me dizzy lol

  • lol me to

  • lol me three

  • Possibly the biggest thing i have seen in this video is that while his body is square to the target, his eyeline traces an in out path...

  • pointless? I don't think so! I basically learned golf through youtube and this video has helped me tremendously.. I watch this from time to time to see how he sets up, and more importantly, what it looks like to him during his backswing...

  • spot on. thats exactly what i got out of this video. Alignment can be a tricky thing and its neat to see the best player's set-up.

  • @golfdog42 you gotta remember that the camera is fixed in only one direction but for him he has his eyes on the ball with his head facing the way towards the camera... so its partially accurate

  • @golfdog42 you can see how the club is closer to his right leg he begins the swing with his arms and gradually bends his wrists, he begins the down swing with this hips first, very good view and i also learned golf through youtube and ive never taken a lesson

  • @golfdog42 to be honest his setup looks like he is just wacking balls..... He is Tiger woods so they go strait

  • Great lag in his swing, this video is anything but worthless. 4 iron punch shot (stinger). The head comes back in the back swing, moves target wards a bit then steadies.Unique look at a great golfers grip....you see what he does !

  • that wasnt a punch shot ur head is supposed to stay behind the ball until impact

  • amen to that

  • thats his old swing dou

  • Not exactly as worthless as you think range365. Gives you a pretty good idea of what tiger is feeling through the swing.

  • lol that looks so awkward

  • wow that is a worthless view

  • Not really. You have to watch it a few times. What helped me is that I watch different parts of his swing each time. For example his club path he starts the club outside slightly. Next I watch his leg action. Next I watched his hands as far if you can see when he cocks his wrist. Hope this helps.

  • And this is a worthless comment. Well done.

  • yes indeed

  • Its a punch shot!!!

  • tiger's shoulders come before, and control his arms.

  • everyone on tour creates leverage for exact power. leverage is achieved by applying force against the ground. this leverage should drag the clubface away (not the hands). every body part from the ground up should be controlled through this leverage in order (like a whip's sequence). reaction to the action that has come before it. the reason why tiger looks different compared to almost everyone else on tour is a matter of sequence. his right shoulder is pulling (controlling) his right arm.

  • Good comment. I like you.

  • Serious question... Do you teach? If yes I'll have something interesting to discuss with you about future development. Let me know.

  • Very close, and you're thinking in the correct direction. In the Haney Swing the forearms round the club back, while the hands work up and down (holding the HIT). Becuase the forearms (NOT wrists) have rotated going back, when the hands work up and down it seems as if they are at a 45 degree angle. Coming into impact since his wrists are working up and down at the ball his hands SNAP down, like a whip as you mentioned, creating tremenduous speed at the ball.

  • another that can't debate, so he ridicules blindly because he lacks understanding in physics.

is that you in the law video? if so, the last 5 words from you're last post pertain to you. you should name yourself putzCanuck with comments like that.

think about it b4 you say, eh?

  • if anyone who cares is confused with the 1st three sentences from my last post, it pertains to walking (not the swing).

  • pushing weight against the ground backwards with one foot, makes the other go forward (newton's 3rd law).

shoulders and arms that sway from a reaction follow the same rule. the shoulders and arms are lagging, and being controlled by forces applied against the ground. precoiling against the ground around to the right, will make the upper react left b4 it's pulled away by the backswing. lag will not happen naturally anywhere in the swing, unless made from the start.

  • hey buddy youre talking a bunch of bullshit id like to see your ass go out and emulate exactly what youre saying and make it work youre probably uncoordinated and fat as hell!!

  • yea i agree with u i wonfer how many mafors this guys one and wat his name is lol

  • do his arms rotate at all...cause it doesnt look like it to me

  • it looks like they rotate alot to me

  • cool.... but I kind of get dizzy watching it.

  • roughly 60,000 viewed this 4 iron video, and only 11,000 viewed the driver video (which is found in the related column to the right of the video).

the slow motion video with the driver doesn't take that 1st move out.

  • answer this b4 i answer that:

in reference to my 2nd posting, do you know what i meant when i stated the lowerbody coil carries the upperbody coil to the top?

oh, and pertaining to your video, is that snow on the ground?

  • not exactly..but when im swinging well it feels as though my lowerbody makes a very slight shift to the left just before i take the club away, which in turn starts the lower body precoil(or at least thats how it feels to me. I appreciate all the input you have given me so far and i am currently working on that right arm(along with other things).andno snow..im in california

  • lowerbody leads the way on the downswing...

the only way to make this happen is to wind it up 1st in the backswing. if the upperbody winds up 1st and the lowerbody follows, physics state that the upperbody will lead the downswing. if the sequence is correct (lower leads upper back and forth), the unwinding sequence will create lag automatically (i.e. hands being ahead of the clubface).

  • Question for treelo regarding the shift forward setting up the lower body precoil...where exacly do you feel the shift forward? left hamstring?

  • My apologies in advance, but I am interested in your comment "the shift forward before going backwards sets up a lower-body precoil which carries the upper-body coil to the top"...is it subtle shift forward or is it a sensation you feel as you initiate the backswing?

  • You maggots should all listen to treelo and stop bagging on him cus he knows watsup

  • easy goldie.. lol

i was hoping when i posted that heap of shit, i would get some useful insight from others. boy was i way off.

im all set with the insults.

  • load of truthful shit you can't understand.

maybe because your from old england,

    and im from new england.

or maybe you just haven't grown up yet.

i could have explained it in laymen's terms (something a child would understand), but you blew it with your childish response.

  • Shut Treelo ur just talkin a fuckin loada shit!

  • one too many times on the comments... sorry ;p

  • is that a compliment, or an insult?

  • i don't know if i should take that as a compliment, or an insult.

  • i don't know if i should take that as a compliment, or an insult.

  • the open look comes from the angle he sets at address.

  • the shift forward before going backwards sets up a lower-body precoil which carries the upper-body coil to the top. this sequence creates seperation from the two halves. the coil is around, and the sequence (both backwards and forwards) is from the ground up.

I believe the resistance he creates from the ground, actually control his shoulders like two gears.

  • hu r u butch harmon or sumthin ur talkin a heap of shit and just made it into a sentence

  • wow, treelo knows absolutely nothing.

  • treelo knows the truth and selflessly exploits his knowledge via posting on youtube.

you should consider yourself privileged stumbling across it, for it generalizes the secret.

  • Mattyco1234, looks like you go owned byt treelo

  • did u mean to put the t after by after go?

  • to me, the slow motion video doesn't reveal the most important aspect of the swing

the real-time swing shows that he shifts his weight forward before he starts back

  • I don't think he's open, it's just the position of the camera that's a bit off.

  • Is it just me, or is he open in his video?

  • One more thing everyone should note is how smooth his takeaway and his transition to the downswing is. A lot of guys who emulate Tiger rush down too quickly everytime they picture Tiger swinging, but if you count his tempo down, you'll see that it's actually quite slow and steady. Plus, you hit it further when you gather speed like that, instead of throwing it all away on the downswing.

  • You can see a clear differce between setup and impact. From this I assume his weight is left well behind the ball at impact, and not in line with.... which I try to do and have trouble feeling it out.

Now watch how far behind the ball Tigers head is when he stops it rotating and moving it forward with his weight shift...

  • Get 2 toothpicks and hold them in a cross up to the scree so that tigers foot alignment and ball placement is basically visually enhanced and made apparent to you for the rest of the video.

  • Look how still his head at impact by the way. You can only see it on the slomo! His head stops behind the ball and waits in perfect stillness for the clubhead to catch up. Then at impact everything moves through.

    But try this...

  • I think the biggest thing a lot of amateurs can take away from this is that you don't flip the wrists to square a golf club. If you look at the slo-mo...well after impact his right hand hasn't overtaken the left hand. Tiger has beautiful shoulder rotation to square the golf club which is what most golfers of his length do.

  • This is a great video
