Hi , I was in Gishora januari 2010 with the famous "Anthime" , 75 years old and as fit as a 12 year old kid .!! soon i'll let you see some video clip I made.
Gishora is one of the famous drum sites of Burundi. Gishora is perched on the top of a hill at 7km from the urban centre of Gitega The site of Gishora also houses two ritual drums that were never beaten : Ruciteme (the one for whom we clear the forest) and Murimirwa (the one for whom we cultivate).
@Lahcen78 Thanks alot for your comment . I love this country . Not yet ready with HD video ( shot about 39 hours video ...have to make a few selections ..!! ) see you
@Lahcen78 Bwacu means " Beloved" , in the way of patriotic meaning . it's also the titel of national Anthem of Burundi . the word n'amahoro means " peace". in the way we want the country to be peacefull so the coountrys benefits sould be "progres" and welfare. so we always close with " Burundi n'amahoro , this word can also be used for your friends .
Although this is not the best video (the sound is kinda retarded), I wanted to say:
WE OWN DRUMS!!
I mean I've been around the world and nothing comes even close to our drummers. It makes me so proud! It's time we as Burundians get conscious about what we have and start developing it, and make the world see how rich our culture is. Drums are the best known part of our culture but there are hundreds of different dances, you'd be surprised to see. I mean they're so various for such a small country
I first heard this beat on the Music and Rhythm compilation album that Peter Gabriel put together in conjunction with the first WOMAD Festival, back in 1981. Fucking kicks ass! Where can I get the full track, instead of just this excerpt?
Brilliant! I bought the 45 the first time I heard it played. The rhythm was addictive and I have been searching for this record track for the last 36 years! Ever since I divorced my first wife! The film captures the skills and pleasure of the players. Thanks for the memories!

I can't believe no one's commented on this yet. Saying that, I forgot I had the CD somewhere.
