I'm not religious, I believe in science however if you believe there was a purpose for the earthquake why would it have targeted somewhere 600 km away + the town was not damaged. Instead the dolphins trapped in the nets / pens were thrown about against the rocks. The tsunami effected the dolphins, not Taiji.
From what I am aware the town of Taji was not damaged. However there were significant waves on the shore. Because there were dolphins in the water, trapped in nets they were bashed and thrown onto the rocks, where as if they were in deeper water (and free) they can easily swim right through the wall of water.

National Geographic reported on it over 30 years ago as did Cousteau when HE made a documentary about it. So I don't see how any well informed person could percieve it as a "secret".

Consumption of beef has more known dangers than dolphin meat does. Nor is dolphin meat toxic, it just has curiously high levels of mercury.
This form of hunting is not the primary reason why dolphins are becoming endangered + many of the species caught are not nearly threatened.
I intend on watching the cove sometime, but remember that any documentary of that sort is very very opinionated and executed in a way that heightens any negatives with certain facts and figures.

I'm not religious, I believe in science however if you believe there was a purpose for the earthquake why would it have targeted somewhere 600 km away + the town was not damaged. Instead the dolphins trapped in the nets / pens were thrown about against the rocks. The tsunami effected the dolphins, not Taiji.

From what I am aware the town of Taji was not damaged. However there were significant waves on the shore. Because there were dolphins in the water, trapped in nets they were bashed and thrown onto the rocks, where as if they were in deeper water (and free) they can easily swim right through the wall of water.

Many of you are not seeing the point of this video. Dolphins are very smart, possibly smarter than humans. I dont know of any other animal/mammal capable to fall into that category. They dont deserve this. Many other animals are killed like this too. But humans must eat. The point is that dolphins are intelligent. There meat is contaminated with 200 ppm of mercury, the recommended amount is less than 2 ppm. These people see the meat under fall titles, such as whale meats etc. Its wrong.

No, I understand that this happens behind closed doors or what not, and I agree with you. There's a lot of animal cruelty hidden behind the scenes, like cattle slaughter houses, for example.
I guess you have a point though, by saying that they did get the chance to roam free in nature...but at the same time, (in my personal opinion) I don't really agree with the killing of fairly intelligent animals. And apparently, this meat is often sold as counterfeit, as tuna meat on the market.

Perhaps it is tradition in Taiji or maybe they were scared of repurcussion or effects on japanese fishing/whaling industry. Also why do the countries that fish all come down to the southern seas and fish? have the fish numbers been greatly depleted in home waters? earthquake/tsunami is a totally different topic

Why include the people who DID know? And to say Japan has been hiding it is exactly what "The Cove" wants you to believe. National Geographic reported on it over 30 years ago as did Cousteau when HE made a documentary about it. So I don't see how any well informed person could percieve it as a "secret".

They have a right to harvest the marine life in their Economic Exclusion Zone. There are no people of Taiji that I know of who are blaming anyone about the mercury content of their diet, although they are aware of risk. Japan hunts dolphin in it's own waters. They sometimes whale in international waters. International waters are accessible to all.

It's international waters and the Antarctic Treaty gives them the right to fish there. And you are wrong about what they are doing in Taiji. INTERNATIONAL WATERS and they have every right to do so. The International Whaling Commission allows Japan to whale. Even so, the IWC isn't a lawmaking body, has no authority to enforce it's policies and membership is voluntary. Japan could quit the IWC and continue whaling anyway. They wouldn't be the ONLY country to do so.

The fact that a few countries including Japan fish the southern oceans would have an impact on sealife around new zealands shores as sealife migrates out of certain areas frequently. How would you like it if someone came into your back yard and took whatever they wanted?
