Love this movie. Tony Gilroy (writer/director) is amazing. Love the enitire cast, George, Tom, Sydney, and Tilda. And the editing by John Gilroy (yes, brother of Tony) is amazing. Surprised it wasn't even nominated for editing. Overall, I thought this movie didn't get the praise it deserved. I know it was nomianted for a lot of top Oscars and made some top ten lists (even # 1 on a few just ahead of No Country For Old Men) but it didn't seem to be seen for just how good it was. @myfacesp No Counrty for Old Men, which is also an amazing movie. You see, it's sad that those two movies had to be in the same year. That being said, I don't know that it would've won in other years. Look, I don't mind it losing to No Country for Old Men. In the end I like Mike better but it is very close. We knew No Country For Old Men was gonna sweep the big awards. But since it was an adapted screenplay it gave Michael Clayton a chance to win that. But nope, they had to give something to
@myfacesp Juno. That I do mind it losing to. Yes, Juno was okay. But nowhere near the quality of Michael Clayton. I think they felt since it was a "strong woman character" they had to give it something. And I think the editing was also an important part to the movie. It was done in such a fascinating way. In no way is The Bourne Ultimatum better in that (or nearly any) aspect of Michael Clayton. Read the wikipedia article about the 80th Acadmey Awards and see what a critic feels about "most"
@myfacesp editing. Some movies will automatically receive editing and other awards such as sound awards because they had a lot of it. Not that if a movie does have a big budget that it doesn't have good sound mixing or sound editing. But those kind of movies will sweep it because there is a lot of it, even if it's sound is mixed and edited horribly, compared to a movie that does it in a subtle but mesmerizing way. In the end Michael Clayton was very underrated.

hmmm.. when i saw this movie, i thought it was good, i never thought george wouldve gotten nominated, nor would the film get the nominations it did. it was decent, but i didnt think oscar material
Did anybody buy the Michael Clayton DVD and watch the movie with Tony Gilroy's commentary? He makes a HUGE error in it. In the commentary Gilroy talks about the scene at the bar after Arthur dies when Clooney goes to see Pollack. Gilroy says that after this scene, Pollack goes back to the office and the opening late night office scene at the begenning takes place, BUT in actuality, that scene does not happen til the next night in the movie. HUGE screw up by Gilroy. And this is on the DVD!!
This was good, I'm so glad I didn't watch this whole trailer before I saw the video. That lady is such a good actress, So good for this part (I have no idea what her name is and I'll let someone else look it up for me). She had better get nominated for best supporting actress. Her performance at the end was outstanding!

To any Americans out there: is Tilda Swinton's accent really that bang-on?
For me, the scene where she's practising her speech in front of the mirror seemed real.

Bad, highly predictable, borring, long and the list goes on, and on, and on and on. Don't see it. Spare 2 hours of your lives to do something else.
