  • ranking number 2 in my all time favourite war movies Saving Private Ryan gets 1st place.

  • I never understood why we were called patriots... wasn't it the ultimate act of treason?

  • Ya too bad Von Lichtenstein isnt around.

He got knighted. RIP SIR WILLIAM...

  • France won this, wasnt the usa lol.

Relate this to Iraq. Guerilla warfare...? Imagine if Russia was at war with usa. And war was in Iraq. Iraq was a colony of usa and Iraq said the won the war when in reality it was Russia that won it. Not Iraq.

  • I want to see the historians come in here and bash this movie again saying how its not accurate.

It isnt accurate but this is what was going on.

This is why the Marines got their own branch, because of this whole LAW thing. usa needed infantry to be on ships and do stuff near the ships. Common sense... the LEGIONs in usa were not skilled enough or in numbers to "TOE THE LINE" against the Royal military of Great Britain.

  • R.I.P. Heath Ledger

  • I really want to see this film. But its never on tv.

  • @WWEEvolution1991 movie2k, solarmovie, moviesdatacenter, novamov, putlocker, gorillavid, gotta be there somewhere lol

  • @WWEEvolution1991 Just watch it online...

  • This film is the fucking worst.

  • AC3 Army!!!!

  • aww i almost cried when i saw Heath Ledger LOL he's meh favorite actor =}

  • AC3 !! :D

  • Thumps up if you're wondering how in the hell Assassins Creed brought people here!

  • @silverberetta17 Tomahawk Scene

  • @silverberetta17 AC3 is in 1777 during the American Revolution sooooo...

  • This is my favorite movie

  • Assassin's Creed 3. ;]

  • I am watching this because i cant wait for Assassins Creed 3!

  • OMG! watched the movie and started to cry!!!

  • i'm watching this to understand what is american revolution looks like since assassin's creed 3 is coming this year..damn..i never thought playing games makes me interest with history

  • Thumbs up if Assassin's Creed 3 brought you here!

  • @Blackfox006 It reminded me I had the movie, just finished watching it thinking the whole time that this will be such a great setting for the series!

  • @Blackfox006 um no, this movie has been around for a long time

  • @Blackfox006 Sir, you just earned a big THUMB UP.

  • @Blackfox006 omg loolololololo ac3 will be awsome!!

  • @Blackfox006 LOOOOL HELL YEAH!! Ima watch this movie JUST because of AC3...and MIL GIBSON!! and the Isac dude from GOOD and HP!! movie better be epic.

  • @SpiderAbu pretty damn epic.

  • @Advocate005 that's really nice to hear, since my pirated copy of the movie is done downloading. :D If I really like it, like lets sayy..the movie Moon (2009) I watched cause of that Aliens Colonial Marine's trailer which had the movie's soundtrack which made me know about the movie, pirate it, then go buy it on Bluray as my first ever Bluray disc purchase for PS3 which I watched 3 times by now, same shit will happen if this is good just like that. :D

  • @Blackfox006 i was about to say the same thing !

  • This should be the trailer for Assassin's Creed 3 :D

  • USA- The greatest nation in the history of the world.

  • @AmericanRattlesnake Not in the history of the world... far greater nations than USA have risen and fallen.

  • I think it has a meaning much more than American and British war. It includes humanity.

  • Such an underrated movie...

  • Such an amazing movie..and im only 13.

  • Good for you America :)

  • @MrTimothytim Don't forget to thank the French. Yes.. those "cheese eating surrender monkeys" made your revolution successful.

  • @alexsau91 Haha ive always found english nationalistic blackmailing funny cuz its full of bs ps im not American

  • @MrTimothytim Err... how nice for you...?

  • the americans started it they got cocky

  • There is no such thing as an american, they are all just a group of mongrel bitches of european descent.

  • this movie has no credibility. the british are dumb here. how can kids kill the british soldiers?

  • @drinktoireland

And in fact the british put an entire town in a tower and set it on fire. But you are correct in that the colonist also burned a lot of houses too.

  • @drinktoireland

Your just pissed because you are still sucking britians dick and the united states isnt.

  • harrison ford could have been satisfied with the script and act in it instead of mel gibson

  • This is very false. The British usually never burned down colonist houses and butchered familys, they were very disciplined and focused. In fact the "patriots" probably burned down more loyalist houses and butchered their familys. No worse than the IRA.

  • AOE III lol!

  • ... and this is because Hitler comes to revanche Germany ...and his revanche againts France that was, after this period of war : devasted ... Americans (since the civil war) and English can NOT understand that because they had not to support war on their territory (as Germany, Russian and all continental Europe) ...

  • I am not agree with the fat you help us twice ... nations did not help each eather, this is just propaganda, there were not 1WW and 2WW (as Star war 1 and Star war 2): it was ONE war 1914 until 1945 .. during 1WW the nation called France has lost 1,8 of soldiers vs the nation called Germany ... USA declares war to Germany in 1917 just one year before Germany cesse fire ...because it was communist revolution ...

  • Unfortunetly, french lelp for american independance ... and now you a pissing over France, even when french soldier were killing for you in Afghanistan ... I AM VERY DISAPOITED WITH AMERICANS, THEY HATE UN, FOR THEM WE ARE SHIT!

  • @BOUCHAK we had to bail you out twice as many times but the french helped train they didn't exactly do much besides that

  • @BOUCHAK Pretty sad. That being sad i wouldn't be to upset. The American government is the most stupid group of people I have ever seen. They demanded they call french fries "Freedom Fries" like thats going to fucking help their troops in the war. But if it weren't for France, Spain, Native Americans, and Dutch Allies America would have gotten their arses KICKED

  • "you sure this is the right place to recruit militia?"

    "GOD SAVE KING GEORGE!"

    *riot breaks out*

"I think we came to the right place" <<<BEST QUOTE EVER! ^^

  • I recently downloaded Empire Total War; fucking amazing game btw. Anyways, I decided to download the patriot as well seeing as it was from roughly the same era, and during that first battle I was surprised to see the British using the same tactics I always use: Advance all you infantry packed together, fire all at once and when the dispersed enemy loses their wit and runs bring in the Calvary to break their flanks and kill finish them off ^^

  • one of the most moving movies ive ever seen.

  • i saw this in school and it was is was nice

  • I don't like the US that much but I do love their history.

  • If country has fought civil war, its propably stronger than befoure it. Americans got their indepence thanx for civil war, and Finns wanted to keep their indepence thanx to civil war. (only after civil war we realised how important peace (and liberty) is)

  • I like looking back at the comments and seeing two people argue over which country is better...

... I like how some small minded people have the spite to say that Brits would be speaking German if it wasn't for the US... well yes, i guess you guys did...

But you'd all be speaking French or Spanish... and there wouldn't even be a United States...

I love you guys i really do, but some Americans need to do their homework :)

  • Mel Gibson, alcohol-soaked woman-beater and anti-Semite, well his film would be anti-British considering he is of Irish descent.

  • Youre right Sharpe and the chosen men would have taught gibson a lesson in shooting

  • Mel Gibson = such a Brilliant actor !

  • Comment removed

  • @r3b0rnme yea but he's also a big piece of shit in real life:)

  • Comment removed

  • British dominance for the win!! Common Britain we did it once we can do it one more time revolution!!!

  • @Mrflyman2000 we fount the british 2 times

  • Sad all these men died for freedom, and now today America is being ruined by people like Obama ):

  • Braveheart in america

  • Our teacher let us watch it too

  • Entertaing and action packed...but vehemently anti-British. There were war crimes committed by both sides but the British army never burned whole towns alive inside churches lol

  • @Goatoftheforest yes they did they were the nazis of the 17-1800's and the u.s. were the jews they never teach us about how mean the british were this showed the true brutality of the british they controlled the entire world and not "lol"

  • This movie was so epic and sad at the same time. My teacher let us watch this during history class to see the conflict between the British and the Colonists ;p

  • @LittleMsAsianGirl

    The Colonists were British.

  • @karezza6

Yeah, but they didn't want to be loyal to Britain any more because they wanted to be their own country. It was more British vs. Americans in other words.

  • @LittleMsAsianGirl

Wrong. They didn't want to pay taxes and they wanted to keep their slaves. There is nothing noble in their disloyalty.

  • @LittleMsAsianGirl The Patriots were like the IRA. They killed all colonists that did not want to break free from Britain. A bunch of terrorist scum. Brits should've killed em all. And hell if it wasn't for the French, Spanish, and Native Americans. The brits WOULD HAVE kicked their arse

  • @DrinkToIreland Okay then. I also agree that the patriots would've had their butts kicked if it werent for the french/native/spanish ;p

  • @DrinkToIreland

Most agree if Britain had 10 years, with France defeated, the entire weight of the British Empire would've overwhelmed America.

But George - He had to let them live. Silly, Silly King.

  • @RyanBrooksby yeah :\

  • @DrinkToIreland

But then there was a little German state getting cocky.

Naturally, we, as British, had to slap them around a little.

Well, we wished that's what happened.

  • @LittleMsAsianGirl lol same here. for the american revolution

  • @LittleMsAsianGirl mine also

  • 0:42 Empire:Total war.

  • It's funny considering the fact the a German directed this movie even though true to the fact that the Germans were on the British side during the American revolution.

  • @Hperman09 Does that really matter? This country was built for all of us, including the British AND the Germans.

  • Emmerichs best movie...

  • Good movie, im watching it in history class

  • @supermen133 me too! tu va a l'école poly P.A.T.? I am watching it at the P.A.T. high school

  • Im watching this is my S.S. class and I was INLOVE with it C:

  • Erm... The Revolutionary war's kind of... over. Why are the Brits and the Americans still fighting? I'm proud to be American, as any American should be, and Brits should be proud to be Brits. We've been allies for years now -- we all helped win the World Wars, each is fascinated with the other's culture... I don't see why we can't all just respect each other. The kid may have moved out of the house, but we can still go out for coffee (or tea) with our mom. And I'm not stereotyping; I love tea.

  • @thatwhichisgiven Your use of correct grammar, punctuation and spelling on a Youtube comment thread is refreshing. Thank you.

  • @cabriogirllp :) Thank you. I'm not a huge fan of tlkin leik dis, u no???? I have things to say, and I'd prefer people be able to read them without a translator.

  • @thatwhichisgiven Have to say, though, this film portrays the British as Nazis.

In actual fact, it was an incredibly unpopular war back in Britain, where people were deeply sympathetic to the American cause - the concepts of individual liberty and independence were, of course, values that the British had long held dear.

  • @BasilFawlty4444 I'm quite sure you're right. I'm just unsure why the war seems to have gone on in people's minds for so long. Hate to bring you back to reality, ladies and gentlemen, but the time you're living in happens to be the 21st century. Can the fight be over, please?

  • @thatwhichisgiven The movie portrays life as it once was...this was a part of American history and a very important part. Every part of history has a affected us today, even in the 21st century.

  • @jmagnuson95 we may need of this to happen again.

  • @jmagnuson95 Pretty sure it's an important part of British history, too. Anyway, that really has nothing to do with my original comment. Yes, the war happened, and yes, the fact that it did happen affects us today, but STILL the war is over -- or it ought to be. My question is why can't we stop fighting, 200 years after the war's ended?

  • DAMN! The Rambo of the Revolutionary War! :O

  • My teacher told us about this movie

  • @TheFistGamer ahah same were watching it in class

  • @JeTsMaN12ROBLOX

We didn't exactly win, they just didn't care anymore. They didn't give up, but just decided to stop. So, technically speaking, we didn't win, and they didn't lose.

  • lol of course the war was unfair, for America. The British had an enormous navy, more men, more supplies, better weapons, etc. We won anyway. Any complainers are just sad that we won.

  • @JeTsMaN12ROBLOX err i think u forgot to metion that the french and spanish helped if not you would have nether one , and technically america (or the 13 colonies) was onwed by britian so you were just britih citizens that rebbeled thas how i see it any way

  • What's the music playing @2:07?

  • @TheFlanker35 Craig Armstrong - Escape

  • @SSUstufRudel,

Thanks for telling me; I appreciate it.

  • I have long feared that my sins would return to visit me, and the cost is more than I can bear...THE PATRIOT

  • Richard Sharpe would kicked Mel Gibsons Arse any day.

  • @GCmediacourse so would harrison ford

  • Rodat, Emmerich, Gibson - the Trinitiy of Evil.

  • mel gibson is a typical aussie that hates the english

  • @PERSYFILTH

Reactionary Roman Catholic bigot Mel Gibson is an Irish-American. I hope he dies from cancer.

  • Goddamn i miss Heath Ledger, amazing actor...

  • This one of the best movies I've seen so far, even though I hate history.

  • One of the best movies I have ever seen. Apart that it is one of the only movies that have 18 Century Warfare Musket to musket with it.

  • now this is a movie, unlike all the garbage they have out today, i haven't even went out to see one in YEARS!

  • I hate Lucius!!!

  • Here's an idea, look up the animated Titantic movies. Just do it. Now there are two horried movies

Now stop shitting a great movie. We don't need half ass history lessons from people on the internet. If you don't like the fucking movie, hit the go back botton. Do I go on Twilight videos and shit on them because they ruin sparkles? No, because, it is a bitch move. Now shut and stop whining. We get it Brits aren't evil, just whiners.

  • .. Omg, I hate that person who killed Thomas and Gabriel! BASTARD

  • Im going to watch this today. I hope it's as good as everyone is making it out to be.

  • this movies kickass rip heath ledger

  • The only thing accurate about this movie were the uniforms... But it was a good movie.

  • @DeathlyDavid no... there was some facts

  • @Lilibob1231 Well, yeah Cornwallis leading the British etc. Technicalities like that. I mean things that happened. Battles were inaccurate (but they were epic) and the British didn't burn down a church full of people.

  • Why was I surprised when the girls in my class screamed at the bad parts? They should have done what I did: Miss half of the movie with their hands over their eyes, observing the great detail of a desk. Don't worry, I saw the important scenes.

  • I saw it today, thats a great nd true story

  • OMFG. The main character in the patriot was based on Francais Marion who slaughtered Native Americans for fun and owned slaves. He and Banastre Tarleton commited atrocities in the American war of Independence and were firm supporters of the slave trade. As in life, no man can easily be judged a hero or tyrant, and 'freedom fighting' almost always ends in the death of innocent civilians from both sides. God, throughout history, has always sided with the pacifist

  • Meh fav. Part in the whole movie is when that one soldier got decapitated by the musket ball~ it was epic~ all the girls except for me screamed~ I laughed~

  • 0:55 Let's hope Benjamin Martin is always around to save the day.

  • @TheSpongebobgo That made me laugh soo hard!!

  • @TheSpongebobgo LOL!XD

  • I can understand if they use it to help students visualise the historical setting. Usually they make comparisons to real history. I was taught about Al Capone in school, and we had to watch 'The Untouchables'. Kids get really bored nowadays, this is a good way to encourage their interest in the subject.

  • I don't care whose side this movie is going for. It's a fucking great movie. Calm down.

  • really good movie... the should do more of 1700 some epic things happend then

  • i saw this movie in my Georgia history class and i have got to say. this is one of the most amazing movies i have ever seen

  • ahhh shucks. i've missed a pointless history argument

  • By gorgeous needs to stop whining. And you can't say y'all would win ww2 If america didnt help. The Russians did help but the only reason they took over Stalingrad was because German reinforcements were deployed to France to defend against the Normandy invasion that both England and AMERICA contributed to

  • 10 britains disliked this video.

  • Classic.

  • Comment removed

  • Amazing movie!

  • legendary!

  • Honestly, I think that our country is still a bit embarrassed about losing this war cos I don't remember ever hearing about this in any history lesson. Or we might just not care, I hope its the second :)

  • This movies based on the American Revolutionary war, The U.S vs britain, A great movie based on a true war, Superb. Also, For the britains on here who are upset over this movie, Suck it up.

  • @DarkosApprentice u mean 'Britons'?

  • @DarkosApprentice iff we made a film about the war of independance that lied about americans saying you were a bunch of murderous bastards, im sure you would be a little upset. it seems to be a trend in mel gibson movies to make out english are evil by changing true stories into works of complete fiction with a few names thrown in to slader their reputations. we sued over this film and won lol

  • logan lerman grew up to become hot

  • i like movies like the patriot, braveheart, gladiator .. can anyone give me a movie that has almost the same plot as this 3 movies? thx!

  • I'm currently watching this at my school in 8th grade, FUCKING LOVE IT.

  • @ImNovaa i hope its not a history class youre watching this in because the film is entirely fictional.

  • @ByGeorgeous Obviously it's entirely fictional.

  • It's scary how people are saying they watched this movie at school. I'd move to a new school if I were them. It's an entertainment movie, not a historical movie. From a historical viewpoint about the only thing this movie gets right is that the American colonies won. Everything else is extremely inaccurate.

  • Don't get me wrong I like this film, even if Mel Gibson has gone nuts. But why are all his movies about the English being evil b***ards.

    Are we really that bad?

  • @RugbyHobbit1

Yes, they allowed 2000 muslim honor killings to go unpunished under English Law.

  • @RugbyHobbit1 well if you think that you mess up with every country and doing like you are the best or killing the americans these times and the scots lng time ago then yea i think that you are a litle :)

  • @djkapalof Come on!!! We haven't killed the scots for 300 years and lets face it England and Scotland joining together was the best idea we ever had! Anyway you Americans aren't so mint yourselves, Whatever we did to you in the Revolution you did way worse to the Native Americans and I'm not gunna talk about Nam. (I'm guessing your American)

  • @RugbyHobbit1 well i am Greek ^^ and it's like Greek revolution against Turk's lol that's why i support the Americans :P but anyway yea you are right about what American's have done after all these year's i sapose sorry for any mistake's.

  • @RugbyHobbit1 If we are going down this rout we should just drop the ball and say Dark Ages & Crusades. (It is a joke. For the love a the God, Joke)

  • @RugbyHobbit1 No you are not bad but when any nation fight for her freedom they said that we are freedom fighters, Mujhdeen as (USA declared Afghan in cold war) but there ruler called them terrorist as Great Britain called these people or now USA calling these guys in Afghanistan. But what this is always run on called freedom fighter so if he win he is the best if not then just like Hitler....USA killed thousands million Japanese by Nuclear Bomb but he was right but when Hitler kill it crime

  • @laghari81 Well Im glad we're all on the same page. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. Anyway, this film is mint.

  • @laghari81 You have know idea why we used Nukes do you?

Don't get me wrong it was a crime and it killed a lot of people but it is not the same thing.

  • @RugbyHobbit1 Yes you are :P

    Vive la France!

  • @RugbyHobbit1 Back then when you were the british empire, colonists in america would fight for freedom till death, now idk about Mel gibson being in all these evil english people movies. This one however was just based on facts.

  • @commandergree1231 Are you sure about that statement? Because I would check very carefully before you call something in a Mell Gibson film 'fact'. Anyway, yes we were the British Empire and yes we weren't all that mint during the revolution, but surely we've done some good stuff that evens it all out. Like in WWI, we did most of the work in that one (US and France did a lot too, don't get upset) and we liberated Spain from Napoleon. There's a lot of people worse then us.

  • @RugbyHobbit1 WWII yes you did a lot but then again you didn't do most of the work, the Americans took Omaha and Utah, the bloodiest beaches in D-Day, and most of the Pacific, I think of it as 50/50. And no the Empire wasn't all evil but they were not fun to have as rulers.

  • @commandergree1231 No one likes being ruled by someone else. Like I'm sure the people of Zimbabwe love life now that they're free from British tyranny.

And you forgot about the USSR. They lost more men in the battle of Stalingrad then GB and the USA lost in the entire war and they faced by far the most Germans.

But on behalf of the people of the UK, I'd like to thank the USA for saving us from German guns that they bought in Virginia before Pearl Harbour.
