this is the video that most captures the song and its lyrics. The one that did win was just another pretty boy/girl MTV video. But this one is about something everyone truly relates to, which is that awkward time around 12-15 when you just hate everyone and need something to hang onto. Great Job.

I admit Incubus has moved into a new direction with their sound far from the days of Dirk's slap-bass, yet this is still the Incubus who rocked the house at HOB in N.O. with Deftones and partied with LSU at the Varsity; therefore, I can promise you Incubus is not interested in adolescent girls my friend. A video for them in my opinion should encompass their energy and unique dynamic of the band. Little girls on a beach just doesn't cut it.
Pre-pubescent girls? Maybe for a Christina Aguilera video or perhaps even Pink. At the very least rholland356 you should be consistent with your critiques. I see green screen markers in this video, yet no mention of that in your comment.
I think at the time I wrote my comment, I was so overjoyed by this video that the story trumped the technical errors. You are right, of course, the failure to eliminate the tape marks dooms this vid from winning. It's just not broadcast quality.
That said, the story still trumps all, and maybe it will win because Epic could help with making it pro-looking.
regarding those stupid tape marks, flying plus signs, whatever they are... when i looked at the first half of the videos that were submitted i couldn't help but notice that the more effort the people made to remove them using filters, the more it distorted the band. i hated the way that looked... and because i'm self taught in final cut, this was my first green screen experience and frankly i had no idea what they were there for, i left them in favor of band quality.
Yeah, I know. Those tape marks are a bane-they were a stupid technical error from the get-go. If you look in the discussion group you will find advice for how to remove them--and it isn't an easy task! Expensive tools and a lot of time are required.

Maybe the girl who is left out of the group at the end of the flick is the reason. I like it that each person has some baggage to carry, yet life goes on. Very nice interpretation of this song.

hmmm... ok... weird video. Signs do not make any sense and the girls in the video are way to young.
This song is about a couple who has a rocky relationship and how they help each other get back to normal.

Your video is joyous! The labels struck me as odd, but since you were consistent with them, it ends up working.
And featuring adolescent girls gets home the point of the song--we still have each other as friends after childhood has gone.
This was a very nice video and not at all dreary.
