Everyone here is right- this is the Beach Boys for sure. I wasn't born until the 70's and I can tell. Though it's true that Jan and Dean collaborated with the Beach Boys on some of their songs and they were the originals for some BB songs,, this isn't one of them. This is the BEACH BOYS all the way!
cant beat the oldies i have the complete beach boys and jan and dean even though i live over here in uk i cant get enough of the beach boys and jan and dean its cheerful music thanks for shareing
It was J & Dean with the Beach Boys they helped each other a lot,When you hear Barbara-Ann that is the so called Beach Boys, listen closely, the intro was clearly J & D,and when they say play the ash trays Carl that was Dean, and as it turned out J & D were real surfers, while the BB only had one member to get near the ocean,J&D were the true surfer sound originals, now that Half J&D are dead maybe they will get their rightful spot in the H of F,but not likely they are white
@JJMFB1 Dean sang lead with Brian Wilson on "Barbara Ann." Jan was not there. And it was Carl Wilson who said, "Hal and his famous ashtrays". He was referring to drummer Hal Blaine of the Wrecking Crew. As to who was the true surf sound originals, I think history has answered that question. However, I do agree with you that Jan and Dean deserve to be enshrined in the R&RHOF. They were something special.
I agree that old school knows the difference in a heartbeat. theres no doubt that this is the Beachboys singing. Their harmonizing is soooooo recognizable.
Guys this is not Jan and Dead, Or the beach boys. An excellent remake to be sure. I know you think I'm wrong, but A little research will set you straight.
This is a dub of Surfer Girl recorded by Brian, Carl, and Dennis Wilson during the February 8, 1962 session engineered by Hite Morgan. Dennis's erratic brushing on the snare provides a big clue.
This is undoubtedly the early version of Surfer Girl recorded by the Beach Boys during the February 8, 1962 session engineered by Hite Morgan. Listen to Dennis's brushes on the snare. (Perhaps the producers of Surfing Beach Party got this version of Surfer Girl from a dub rather than from the master.)

Jan and Dean were cool, but this is the Beach Boys you're hearing. Brian Wilson is singing the song he wrote.

Thanks for the tip on this. It sounds more Beach Boys than Jan and Dean. I know many people could never tell them apart.

Yep, right. It's available on the Beach Boys "Lost & found"-CD for example.

This is the Beach Boys...not Jan and Dean. Brian Wilson's voice is inimitable.
