I visited St. Denis in 2005 at the invitation of Mr. Pincemaille. He performed an improvisation that floored me !!!!!!!!!!!! I was stunned. His playing is hard to believe.
He also let me play this organ. I was stunned again. This organ is Cavaille-Coll's Opus Number one. This man was pure genius. No wonder he was, and still is, the best organ builder, ever. Magnificent doesn't even come close. Put the St. Denis organ and Pierre Pincemaille together and it is pure magic.

Magnificent!! Pierre Pincemaille never ceases to amaze me. I can't imagine how difficult that old Cavaille-Coll is to play, but he has complete control of his instrument (as any good organist does). Great combination- a Gregorian chant for the theme, a phenomenal improviser, and a colossal organ... together produce amazing and wonderful things!!
