im 14 and i had to have 3 cervical cancer jabs at school, it took me over 3 hours to let them inject me, and the first time i had it i fainted and almost broke my neck when i fell on a table! i need to have my tetanus soon and ive been putting it off and not trying to mention it to my mum so she remembers, but this has really helped me, thankyou!!<3
im having in 26 minutes injection, i had last year some illness and i had 3 blood tests, on the second one i didnt want to take it twice, then i remember being forced for it, since that i have been extremely scared of these things :/ this is second time, on first time i didnt let her do it :/
I'm terrified of needles and always cry. I find it's easier to lay down whenever I get blood taken or an iv. I don't even want to see the needle or know what is happening. Just do it. I've gotten a lot better the last few times. I find laying down really helps. I also like when the nurse talks to me and keeps my mind on other things. Good luck to you as you battle this phobia!! You're brave for doing it and sharing it with others!!
oh poor thing... im in the same boat .. this is horrible ,people dont understand the fear, also i have heard that there is a numbing cream that you can used before..
Hi reirei05, I just wanted to say thanks so much for sharing this. I am starting my practicum in clinical psychology & have avoided needles for 13 years. I knew I may have to treat people one day with a needle phobia so decided I had to overcome it. I came across your video looking for exposure vids and found it really helpful. Your story and bravery was inspiring. It's now 2 months later and I had a blood test this morning, i barely felt it! I'm sharing your (and my story) in class tomorrow =D

Ahh fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck. I hate needles. I had my eyebrow pierced once and basically fainted. Right now after seeing the vid I have that salivating thing I get when I think about any trauma happening to myself. Broke my foot washing the dishes after cutting open my finger on a broken glass and fainting. I'll never be a surgeon.
This is actually beautiful! This uploader had a seriously compassionate therapist and an equally kind nurse on her side. And I also love the fact that the girl was willing to upload this onto YouTube thereby allowing others to use this for at-home therapy for tryphanophobia. This is fantastic! I also love the fact that I'm not the only person out there who is squeamish about needles. Good going, girlfriend!
Oh my goodness. CONGRATS!! I am currently in exposure therapy and I am using your video as an at-home exposure. This will also be one of the final stages of my treatment. It is so hard... but will be worth it in the end. Seriously, congratulations!!
@Loma2323 Thanks very much :) Its hard to believe how I used to be back then, it really doesn't bother me anymore. I've even had my lip pierced a few months ago :) x
I intend to join the army...it's injections galore, yet the last time I had an injections (9 years ago when I was about 11) I had to be wrestled up against a wall.
ugh... yeah it was difficult for me to watch this. Im a 26 year old guy and I get extremely tense when even going into a doctors office. What really sucks is I have a condition at the moment that will probably require a needle because so far the oral antibiotics have not fixed what I have. But it terrifies me when I went in before. I reacted the same way the author did in this video except I got off the hook. I really need to overcome the fear before my condition gets really bad. :(

i can't watch this video... as soon as I opened the page I had a panic attack... i stopped it at 0:01.... :'( can anyone help me :'( this is ruining my life!
I had injections for egypt and I wore a top which was tight around my arms so when the needle went in, blood squirted out my arm, then I passed out on the bed lol. Other than that, it was fine :/
omg after watching the vid i got an idea, i turned on my fav song really really loud and watched the vid with the music playing and i wasnt scared at all, hopefully this will work when im getting my flu shot
As soon as I saw the arm strap I couldn't watch the video haha
I have a terrible phobia of needles and will be getting counselling about it through my gp soon.
Well done for getting through it! It's an awful thing to be aflicted with as people see it as you being scared or acting like a baby but I know it is much much more than that.
I hope one day I can do what you have, congratulations! xx
Stick to your councelling and you will :) It was very very hard for me to do that, but with time it becomes easier. I have had 3 needles since this vid, but 1 word of advice.. dont think a miracle will happen. I still cried every time I got a needle, and i still feel a lil uncomfortable watching videos, but the difference is, I dont ever lose sleep, i dont "feel" scared anymore. My phobia was so bad, I wanted it to be recorded so I could prove to my family that I actually did it! You will too :)
@LipLamb Glad to hear that you will be getting councelling soon :) It really helped me and now I'm fine around needles. Sometimes I find that I feel a bit uncomfortable being in the vicinity of people getting injections (Eg hospital) but I think its only the same as everyone else would be. I'm sure you will get through it eventually :) x
i'm lucky i don't have a needle phobia but i could see how scared you were but you did it well done hun you did fab!!! =] sendin you a bug hug for being so brave well done =] xx
i expect the worse pain ever and have a shock when i can bearly feel it, i even had an aterial blood gas thing done a few weeks ago it's supposed to be agony so i expected it to feel like my arm was dropping off but actually didn't feel it, the Dr and my mum were both shocked when i smiled through it lol
i don't know whether it would work for a needle phobic though, it's a horrible phobia because my sis has it and watching her have blood tests i'm crying with her coz she's so upset bless her xx
only wached the first minute - i'm too much the same to watch the rest! If you got it done well done! title suggests you did. Any information on what worked for you? feel free to message me direct. Ive tried everything bar medication. Open to suggestions. thanks. Max.
i am just like u. i am so so terified of needles. i went to get a blood test and i was on top of my dad crying because of how scared iam. but i have a real bad tolerance of pain. who is giving u the blood test. is it a friend or a doctor. who all was there with u. r u better now
This was my final stage of councelling. The woman talking to me is my councellor, and the person taking blood is a nurse. Before I got this done, I watched my councellor giving blood to ease myself around the needle lol I felt that helped alot :) xx
Well every1 is diff, but I would advise you to find the route cause of where your phobia came from. It could be something stupid, mine was because a friend poked me in the arm with a sewing needle in school &i became very distressed &scared 2 go back to school. Slowly introduce needles into your daily life, first thinking about them, then looking at pics, then videos. See if you could stand in while som1 gets blood taken at your local hospital. Or if you can get councelling, that would be better
This reminds me of myself exactly... and there's nothing you can do about it. No reasoning or talking will help it. I hate this phobia that I have had to cope with my whole life, and in less than 1 week I will be having surgery and I'll be having to get an IV put in, and I'm petrified...
Hey, Good luck with the surgery, don't worry about the IV I'm sure you will be fine :) My needle phobia got so bad that i got to a point where i was having nightmares even if people just poked me with their finger as a joke. I couldn't even visit my family in hospital, so I knew I had to do something about it.
