Big Brother is (not) watching you with HotSpot Shield

the ONLY way of using it is in a virtual machine (VMWare, MS Virtual PC, QEMU, ...) where it can't do any harm to your main system.

unfortunately, HSS is pretty much the only way of watching any music related videos on youtube in germany, as 80% of them are blocked.

(just as an idea of the scale: if it's VEVO, it's blocked. ALL of it)

if you really care about your privacy, set up a VPN at home and connect to it via your laptop when you're on the go.. but never ever try HSS on a productive sys

HSS/anchorfree logs everything you do ("against abusive users" .. yeah right), bombard you with ads on every page and hijack browsers, install a VPN driver that does NOT get uninstalled when you uninstall the program AND components of hotspot shield get detected by many antivirus programs as trojans and/or backdoors..

i've spent the last 4 hours trying to get rid of all the crap the uninstaller leaves behind. and the driver automatically reinstalls.. O M G!

@killertijn Consider they probably have a provision in the terms and conditions that says something along the lines of 'terms and conditions subject to change without notice'. Further of note, this content was published over 1 1/2 years ago - so it is highly likely that the terms and conditions have changed since that time.
