Hutson never mentions the story of Simon the Sorcerer (Acts 8:9-24) who "believed" and was confronted by Peter that "his heart was not right in the sight of God". So the bible clearly refutes what this preacher is teaching here and indeed there is such a thing as false conversions.
The way is narrow and it is indeed easy to slip up and miss out on God's rest! Hebrews 4:6. Jesus yoke is EASY PLEASE STOP MAKING IT SO HARD Matthew 11:28-30. I am bone weary, thank you Lord for your provisions! John 6:28-29
and guess what, those Pharisees who did not "repent"(turn towards Christ for salvation) were NOT saved!
Jesus had harsh words for those who thought they had to keep the Law to be saved. For the lamb of God had come, and so now it was time to repent and believe in Him alone....only Jesus was sinless and an acceptable sacrifice to God.
Repentance is necessary for salvation. 1John 3 says plainly that Christians do not sin. Drinkning sinning Christians are not Chrisitians at. Mark is short and to the point..."Repent ye, and believe the Gospel" Mark 1:15. His fruits...you can know if you were ever saved by whether you sin or not. Let's not turn the Gospel into licentousness.
What do you think "the gospel" is? The Gospel(which means the good news) is that Christ paid for sin and rose on the third day. What do you think "repent" means? It's a greek word that literally means "change of mind". It's a common misconception that "repent from sin" is mentioned in the Bible. IT's not. New Testament repentance always meant to "turn towards Christ", away from self-righteousness. The Pharisees DID NOT repent...and they kept the Law better than anyone.
@jls0037 1John 1:8 also plainly states "If we claim to be (present tense) without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." and 1John 1:10 "If we claim we have not sinned (past tense), we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives." So perhaps it is not so plain after all. Christ equates even looking at someone lustfully a sin, as well as being angry with murder. I hope you've gouged out your eyes and received a lobotomy as Christ clearly commands to avoid sin!
@Roy5595 Perhaps we should take the literal interpretation of that one verse you cited and put it in the context of the many other verses that say otherwise. We are not turning the Gospel into a "license to sin". Anyone who thinks they have such a license has a heart problem they need to check with God.
@Roy5595 were Paul and Silas heretics in Acts 16:27-31 then for not even mentioning repentance to the jailer when he asked what he must do to be saved and they replied: 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household.'? Was John a heretic for writing a Gospel that does not once feature the word "repent", and which was expressly written so that we may believe and be saved? Just how much must I repent and how much good should I do to cross the saved line? 1 John 5:13
Thank you for posting this Dr. Hutson was a wonderful preacher. God really blessed this man. Salvation by faith alone is so true. I hear so much different preaching sometimes i stress out. But then here ol fashion preaching like this, and gives me assurance.
That is some fantastic preaching. Curtis Hutson is one of the best preachers to ever grace this planet. The message well compliments sanderson1611's sermon "Confusion" he preached recently.
oh, yes. I saw that video. It refreshed me. Sometimes I get bogged down by all the religion that is on here. I really needed that. I love preaching on salvation by faith alone :D
@Kloudes You are saved by faith alone, but people talk about the evidence, the fruit of that salvation in a person's life. See living by faith in Hebrews 11 and Romans 6.
