  • Rest In Peace all victims of Imperialist warfare in the Middle East. Soarise go deo from Belfast.

  • @wucodu Rest in Peace all victims of tyranny, terrorism, piracy, and pure slavery in the middle east.

  • I like Black Hawk Down By Indonesia

  • This song is dedicated to the men and women who served in the army and those who read this comment will know that we are still thinking about you guys all the time and I will pray that you guys will get home safely and sound. Also GOD SPEED and even though I'm not A soldier I still solute to you.

  • @movielister But which army? Maybe you should be more specific. Members of the Iranian army might read it and think you mean them! GOOD GOD NO!

  • @movielister this song is actually about the rebellion of 1798 when Ireland tried to overthrow british/english state rule :)

  • at about 2:10+ why are they running heel to toe?

can someone please answer that, when i go for the run i usually run on the balls of my feet, but when i get tired i run heel to toe, i feel it looks weird but it gets further. but watching those boys do it makes it look awesome.

did i answer my own question?

  • @biggestFFXIfan Fair point and one that reminds me of an Michael Caine anecdote. Early in his career he was in a war film that had the usual scene of a group of soldiers bunching up and charging the enemy. Caine, who had seen active service in Korea told the director that this was nonsense. Soldiers, he said, don't stick together, they spread out so as to produce a smaller target. That is as maybe, replied the director, but the cinema going public have been conditioned to expect

  • @oarfrost squaddies to attack in tight groups. And more to the point, if they were allowed to spread out, did Caine realise how much wide angle camera lens cost?

  • when i heard this i feel't like a soldier soon i will go army maybe i will die (Seriously fight with terrorists) but ill never forget this song but i know god bless our glorious army.

  • @TheOlivanto your a complete moron world war 2 the U.S helped stop the genocide of the jews so there ya go u and ur shit country and idiotic beliefs and dislike 4 america can go die in a hole

  • only two men should be allowed sing this song , tommy makem & john McCormick , only their voices have the gravitas for this song

  • It's not a profession if you volunteer. You may not see it, but that's how it is.

  • @JordonTjohnson Okay, I'm assuming you're talking about serving in the military.

Being a soldier is indeed a profession. It's definition of a professional is 'a person who is paid to undertake a specialized set of tasks and orchestrate them with uncommon skill.' This is exactly what soldiers are. They are paid to do certain tasks with skill.

  • @VollyTyrannis i think thats professional you are talking about but there is a chance that jordon is also talking about professional

  • @JordonTjohnson so if u willingly go to universaty and 'volunteer' ur time to becoming a doctor volunteraly, does that mean being a doctor isnt a profession?..

  • i was born in Vietnam, and i have to agree that the US military force is pacifying everywhere, its just that time and casualties are the things that matters. But how do u expect, it is war. War rages everywhere and there WILL be casualties. With the growing aggression of China, the War on Terror still ongoing, no matter what the Americans did to us in the past, we Vietnamese are forgivers and will side with them in keeping peace. I honor all American lives that lost in Mogadishu in this battle..

  • @EddieOJ168 Americans tried to save you from communists that's what America did. South Vietnam would probably be as rich as South Korea if the Vietnamese had cooperated.

  • Hey "guy that sees things how they really are." How about you see this for a simple video on the internet.

  • i really like the way this guy sings it, but i really dont like his voice :/

not enough people have sung this song

  • @Jigha11 Joe Strummer has the best voice in the world.

  • awesome song and the video shows the great work of the people out there.

  • The USA is just a puppet for Israel.

  • as a fellow who supports and salutes the hard work done by the soldiers of the world i must say the work u are doing is priceless...on behalf of this manhood USA is doing a huge job in maintaining peace! and stopping genocides ! and helping the people who wants freedom! we should not forget the heroes of USA and other joint nations who passed away in the past ! they are not only their countries heroes! they are the heroes of the world!

    regards from Maldives

    ahmed

Salute to USA & joint nations

  • @ahmedcyad

Sure USA maintening peace ; Korea, Vietnam, Grenade, Irak, Afghanistan.....of course...you should have say 'ISA is maintening WAR, for his advantage (politics, sell weapons....) ... USA stop no Génocide ever, 'cause they use to flee each time...

  • @TheOlivanto ISA? what is this killzone now o_O

  • @TheOlivanto Ya the Good ole USA sure is the great satan and wants to kill your children in their sleep. And im sure your fuckhead country is just the greatest country in the world.

  • Im so proud of my cousin, SPC Brian Metz of the US army. He has gone through more shit than anyone else in our family could imagine. I pray everyday for his well being when on tour and for a safe return. Just remember, we live the lives we do in America because young 19-25 yr olds sacrifice their lives. Freedom is not Free, and costs the ultimate price, one of death. I am so thankful for the men and women of the US military for putting their lives on the line so i have 3 meals a day everyday.

  • my eyes water every single time i hear this, i think of the soldiers, thier sacrifices, and hope thier families are doing well. u cant help but feel inspired and sad by listening to this :,)

  • The mistrel boy will return again

when we see him we will cheer it.

the minstrel boy will return again

torn perhaps in body not in spirit

then may he play his harp in peace

in a world as heaven had intended

were all the bitterness of man has ceased

and every battle has been ended

    -verse 4

  • and now u have 200 000 views

  • if you dont care about the opperation in somalia why the fuck are you commenting on it!!?

  • im sorry but that oppration went tits up sooooo badly they only just achieved there objective but at way to geater price!!!!!!!!

  • Great Song, makes me proud to be an Irishman and an Irish Soldier!!:D..Hope to join the ranks of The Long Gray Line though:D

  • Hey! I know something now! You all are all faggots for bringing war to a song, Idiots, stop crying about it, Wars are wars, you can kindly go type in caps screaming at me.

  • @TBUAbuataTBU wars are horrible, pointless and violent. im pretty sure why people are "bringing war to a song" is cuz they watched Black Hawk Down, based on the incident in Mogadishu, Somalia. a truly great movie. i believe they put this into the end of the movie cuz they (and many many others including me) hope for a day when the wars end.

  • @jaycugnet I believe it is of absolute freedom. It was an Irish freedom song that was written by Thomas Moore for his friends he met in college who were apart of the 1798 rebellion.

  • As an young Irishman, I`ve heard alot of versions of The Minstrel Boy and the majority of them, I feel are not good. When I first heard this version I felt for the first time, the spirit in which it was written by Thomas Moore, was finally captured. The ideals of service, sacrifice, justice and peace, the feeling of pride in defeat resonate. We keep the flame of a just revolution lit, until we are strong enough to try again.

  • Sorry ,I 'm incorrect.

  • Artist:Joe Strummer, did original, this is misleading In Black Hawk Down: Hans Zimmer does the movie soundtrack

  • Damn, that footage looks awesome in black and white!

I'm not a huge fan of this version, but this is easily my favorite song ever. It has never failed to bring a tear to my eye.

  • EPIC SONG EPIC FILM!

  • When the bullets are flying just past your head, forget romantic bullshit about fighting for your country, president, king, Queen or ideal. You are fighting to stay alive ,fighting for your life and your platoons, squad, lifes and vice versa. You want to simply live and survive the world of shit that you find yourself in. To get it over with and get back home.

  • Learn't this at my Mams knee, it is an Irish song full of life, loss and want of freedom a theme that has still has not gone away, as recent events have shown Have sang this song many times, in many countries, wearing the Blue beret or the Tricolour. We carried our countries pride to those who had no hope and the world is better for it. We are back in the Lebenon again, why? Whoose hole are we filling, whch civil serpent has descided that we need to keeep an avenue open for more generals etc..

  • None of you will know what its about until you serve :D

  • Comment removed

  • a soldier's place is not in some elaborate cemetery in the warmth and security of his country, he belongs to some far away foreign land with his riffle and his helmet as his tomb stone..........

  • . ...against tyrants and despots. Just as the poems of Robbie Burns inspire men to greater things and not to be cowed by tyranny or cant. BTW the song is a battle hymn of the UVF, so work that one out.

  • As Trinity College, Dublin was an Anglican (meaning Tory) University it is unlikely that any students would have participated in the 1798 rebellion. As a Romantic, Moore, like Sir Walter Scott, was drawing on an older tradition of Gaelic Ireland, when Celtic tribes fought amongst each other for supremacy and conquest. In this context the word slavery is important as defeated tribes would have become enslaved to the victors. The song became, through the Anglo-phone world, one of defiance.....

  • Of course it is a rebellion song, he wrote it for his friends who died in a rebellion against the British.

"As Trinity College, Dublin was an Anglican (meaning Tory) University it is unlikely that any students would have participated in the 1798 rebellion."

This comment alone shows your ignorance of the subject, many of Ireland's patriots were of protestant anglo-irish background, Wolfe Tone is a perfect example of this, in fact he is one of the friends Thomas Moore wrote the song for.

  • I come from the Northern irish Protestant Tradition (Scots irish in the US) and was taught this song when i was at a state school in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The words alone tell you that it is nothing to do with any Irish rebellion against the English, but is between two Gaelic Kingdoms. The words in question are swords, chains and wild harps all of which come from Gaelic Ireland (Medieval Period).

  • @sirrogeralot

The first verse is about protecting a "Land of Song" that is betrayed by the world and has few standing up for it. The second verse seems to be about the boy getting injured and captured as a slave but he destroys his harp so he doesn't have to use it in slavery. Its poetic with its references to swords and chains and slavery so it could really be about any war. People associate it with the rebellion because it was written around then and the harp was their symbol/flag.

  • "The Minstrel Boy" is an Irish patriotic song written by Thomas Moore (1779–1852) who set it to the melody of The Moreen, an old Irish air. It is widely believed that Moore composed the song in remembrance of a number of his friends, whom he met while studying at Trinity College, Dublin and who had participated in (and were killed during) the Irish Rebellion of 1798.

  • Had to be an Irish Song ;)

  • ...does NOT mean Ireland owns it. That, folks, is why one should proofread before posting.

  • Just because this song was written about an Irish rebellion does mean Ireland owns it. Many United States citizens today are descended from Irish immigrants and that song is ALSO part of their history.

  • shit I'ma gonna buy this book and read it

  • Minstrel boys have to fight wars so that the world can somehow know the humanity of war and the virtues and emotions and how it is part of the drama of humanity.

  • This is a message to FreedomSaoirse and to all those who think like him. I learned this song when I was six years old in school in Dublin. It is indeed an Irish song. But it's sensibilities do not belong to Ireland. They belong to the young men who fought under some command - Irish soldiers, Israeli soldiers, American soldiers, English soldiers - all of them young men, and all of them men who should never, ever have been compelled to bear arms. The song belongs to them, FreedomSaoirse, not you.

  • 10 fucking gay

  • My compliments to your video editing skills. This is professional quality; very impressive.

  • The life and infinitely valuable to be wasted.

All return home safely as well.

  • How can you dislike a song like this? May all the US soldiers Rest In Peace, hope you all are in a better place now. Fuck the talibans!

  • Never ever use a patriotic song of the Irish Rebellion, for your unjust intervention on soil, that doesn,t concern you.How dare you!!! We are not the invaders..YOU ARE

  • @FreedomSaoirse Screw you sucker the Amercian soldier will always be held in honor...this song is a soldiers song regardless of where he is from. Lucky for you we arent the ones ovver there oppressing you..caused you'd been gone a long time ago!!!!

  • @hopd217 Robbers, thieves, bullys Away to the North Pole and murder Penguins..At least get it right, when you Scream soldiers music..This Irish Ballad was born through, hurt ,pain, and famine...How dare you use it in vain to glorify americas loosing dream...Fuck you..Your foreign policy is atrocious

  • @FreedomSaoirse You act like you stood on top of a mountain and saved Ireland yourself, You act like since your so god damn special that the ideals of a song fitted for the believers of freedom and independency is restricted for you and you only. Your full of what i'm going to call, bullshit. Music created for the beliefs of freedom and the courage of a man willing to throw himself into battle applies for everyone, everywhere.

  • @gunner76111 Its an irish song you can only claim it as 'your' own as an american if your irish-american and even then...

  • @squeekycaravan I'm not claiming it as my own.. i'm saying that the song may apply to all men of all nations..

  • @hopd217 Well behave with respect for your dead..At least don,t stealIrish Music, just likeyou steal everything..Robbers ,Tramps,thieves..I stand by it

  • @FreedomSaoirse

    Thank you!

This is an Irish song, for an Irish war and shouldn't be hijacked by jingoistic American imperialists.

And this is coming from an American.

  • I think of this and it still makes me sick to my stomach - that Our darling Bill Clinton would see to it that our soldiers in a hell zone were not properly fortified in the event the worst case senerio could occur - which did. And they had to RUN out of that mess? Being fired on by all sides. If we had gone after them with all the might we decended upon Waco many a US soldier would be alive today!

  • 10 people...

  • It does make me weep that that poor man is carrying his dead grandson or great grandson or whoever covered in blood across the road.

  • Fantastic movie, fantastic song. Well done.

  • Faucken A....

  • @maomatt If you are inferring that there are no soldiers who are "rejects" than you are basking in your own goddam ignorance. As research would demonstrate because I can't post links, there are soldiers that do not live up to the expectations of their jobs. You have decided to deny a problem exists altogether if it is too inconvenient to process. And when did I pass judgement on ALL soldiers as murderers? Intellect is not your gift. I judge those that do not live up to the honor of their job.

  • Did you know that this is an old irish folk song?

  • @JJJProductions068 Yes I did.

  • @JJJProductions068 Yeah, I knew about that

  • Pay back is a bitch....Osama rots in hell...

  • @kepler1000 how do u know

  • OSAMA IS DHET!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FUCK OSMA

  • shut up about politics ..just watch the video and feel sad like ur supposed to

  • This song couldn't be less appropriate for the US today. It was written about an Irish patriot who died trying to end the English occupation. "One sword at least thy rights shall guard" - the US has one of the largest armies in the world consisting of mercenaries who murder the civilians from the safety of helicopter gunships.

"Thy songs were meant for the proud and free, they shall never sound in slavery" - the US has never been conquered - aside from maybe people who are descended from --

  • @borbo23 slaves, what does the US know about being enslaved or taken advantage of?

At least during the US Civil War it made sense as a Union song, seeing as the war was about traitors trying to destroy the government and tear the country apart.

Nowadays this song is much more appropriate for the people who are victims of our imperialist ambitions today.

  • @borbo23

The song comes from the numerous Irish who came to America after the potato famine. It became linked to the US Army because so many Irish fought in it. The song therefore never sounded in slavery by the numerous Irish who came to this country to escape the British. Of course I can see why you don't understand that, being that you are a communist, and hate freedom and liberty, would destroy individual freedom across this earth, all in the name of workers united...

  • @kepler1000 ROFL

    You made my day.

  • @borbo23

There are more people of Irish decent living in the USA today than in Ireland.....

So its our song now...live with it....:)

  • @kepler1000 That's the stupidest possible reply to my comment. Is that really all you could come up with?

You're so completely missing the point I have no choice but to believe you are taking stupid supplements.

  • @kepler1000 It's actually about the irish rebellion of 1798

  • @borbo23 rite said fred

  • What always get me is the context of "Blackhawk Down" and the entire Somolia 'incident'. Our guys got shot up and gave their all for their friends. Their comrades. And yet the country as a whole did not notice. We were there to try and feed a starving country and.. we were shot at and decried. Minstrel Boy is perfect for this.

  • @maomatt yep, the whole incident started off when 70-something pakistani peacekeeping soldiers were taken hostage, for trying to stave off a genocide.

    Awesome song, awesome movie.

  • 'Somalia' is its proper spelling

  • @maomatt same thing in rwanda, we did not get shot up, but the commander on the ground saw it coming, and warned the UN about it, but he was ordered out of it. no one in america, europe, and anywhere else cared. It makes you wonder, if we showed a little more caring, could these events have been prevented?

  • Such an excellent choice of song for the movie. It struck a chord with me and mine.

  • You are right, a uniform doesnt give the courage to do the right thing, but its the courage to put the uniform on, and whats inside that makes a difference. Our soldiers are people, not instruments, they do what they beleive is right, that beleive their commanders know what they're doing, even though they fight under a bigger fist then their own. Our soldiers are defenders of freedom and the well being of the only free nation in the world, and you should be pround of that Americans.

  • His point is that there are a lot of soldiers that make unethical decisions, it's up to the individual to do the right thing. Doing the right thing in war takes one hell of a character. But this is not what I'm responding to you for. I'm responding to your ignorance and failure as a human being, by stating: "the well being of the only free nation in the world." You are ONE great nation amongst many, and one human being amongst many. "All men are created equal": It's in your constitution.

  • @Atlasias What "unethical" decisions did they make? They fought to survive and save their comrades when placed in a shitty situation. Some people trying to kill them died. Tough fucking shit.

Would you not? Are you a person that would leave your comrades behind?

  • @maomatt What are you talking about? Have you ever watched the news or heard of "Wikileaks" for that matter. A significant amount of civilians are killed on PURPOSE by American soldiers. This is an unethical decision on the part of the individual, not the military. I will restate that it is up to the individual in warfare to designate the "ethical" decision.

  • @Atlasias Sorry, but if a "civilian" was firing at me I would shoot back, ethics be damned. A soldier can be killed just as easily by someone wearing rags as they could by another soldier.

  • @maomatt Per definition a civilian is unarmed. These killings are for pleasure or due to uninformed decisions. What better place to be than in the military if you want to kill people...legally. It's only logical. It happens, less than civilians are not killed but assisted... but it is still too common for comfort. Hey man, I'm not judging soldiers... I plan on joining the military. I'm judging individuals within the military that run around unchecked.

  • @Atlasias A civilian "per definition" is NOT unarmed, unless the 2nd amendment has been revoked and they haven't told me! A civilian by definition is someone not in uniform. As for you comment "What better place to be than in the military if you want to kill people...legally".... I find your logic repulsive. Since you say you intend to join the military I must ask: WHY? Since you apparently consider them ruthless murderers, why do you want to associate yourself with them?

  • @maomatt Ask Army Spc. Jeremy Morloc

  • i saw the soldiers on the movie Rough Riders sing this and now im downloading this song

  • A soldier is merely an instrument for the will of his commander, be it the president, the parliament or the insane dictator. They are a hammer which can build a house, or tear it down. They are not blessed, they are not cursed. They are merely the instrument of their commanders.

  • @Crusader1089 That may be true but without a solider the commander is useless.

  • @chepp10 soldiers should be made to protect, not to cause harm...like these days

  • @KRU51 agreed to protect and serve the repressed people of the world

  • @KRU51 A soldier is "made" (trained) to protect.... A soldier follows orders and a good one does what he's told to do.

Its the leaders fault, Not the soldier.

  • @AntTzZor correct you are its the leaders fault.

  • @pangolinus, you should show more respect, the military follows the instructions of their leader. if some fault need be found, look there, do not blame soldiers or try to lessen their worth. and as fas as anyone with courage giving you rights.... no its the soldiers that fight those who threaten those rights, brave men that face death, i should know, i was an army ranger. so, you show more respect for the ones brave enough to put on the uniform and protect your sorry ass.

  • 2/2

You know this from all highly authotarian regimes (the military, fascism, stalinism, lenninism, nationalistic governments, etc.) they all praise their own virtue, but do you ever hear parades of doctors praising their own virtue in saving lifes?

I speak in the sence of truth and reason, so if you choose to intellectually correct this position, then please reply. Do so in a mature manner and I will meet you on the same level.

  • @petkol no you never hear of parades of doctors, because while they save lives they do so in a safe environment with noone shooting at them or firing rockets at their positions, we"soldiers" face death every day, literally, people with guns and explosives that challenge our very survival, i think we deserve far more than a little parade. we deserve your respect

  • 1/2

Increadible movie and soundtrack, artistaclly speaking. One of the best war movies of the modern times.

Politically and ethically, to compare the military actions which took place in that country with the word "honor", can be compared with the raping of children to genuine love making. The word "honor" is mostly used by organisations which are the least virtues, and then try to overcompansate.

  • My uncle served with these men. not in this conflict but My uncle went to basic training with Cliff Walcott

  • A solider who fight and serve their country by putting the needs of the needs of others ahead of the own are the honarable soliders. The black soliders's services are unknown in some countries like in America. I think about the men who make heroric sacerfic for humanity and freedom.

  • The minstrel boy to the war is gone,

    In the ranks of death ye will find him;

His father's sword he hath girded on,

    And his wild harp slung behind him;

  • Dont get me wrong i mean i am not a big fan of america and this war i have previously served with uk forces and while we backed you during this war on terror. You certainly left us to our own devices back in the 80s during the Falklands conflict our supposedly closest ally and you guys could do was stretch to diplomacy our ships were being sunk and you sat by, not the american peoples' fault or their troops but the government and its administration

  • Great song. Really inspired.

Może ktoś przetłumaczyć tekst na polski?

  • Mohamed Farrah Aidid we whole world hate u coz u are monster brainwash young mens to serve u as your army even not americans u also kill wats wrong with u

by the way u died right see my this BIG WORD GO HELL MOHAMED FARRAH ADID

ur act is like other terrorist

  • @katelon4 Are you retarded?

  • Who cares which military regiment team you are the objective to rescue people and fight back when ever which country in need and help those already who in hurt then are our brother in arm we fight together and aslute those fallen heroes that sacriface their lives for us and the countries i bless the soldier will LIVE LONG i salute u guyz with proud and honour!

  • "It's the Soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.

It's the Soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.

It's the soldier, not the politicians that ensures our right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

It's the Soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag."

And it's the greedy politicians that gives it all away.

    Google: "Chicken Tax"

  • @F0ckUtoob It's soldiers that take those rights away, too.

  • Women and Soldiers. Thats how the world is. Any other role is temporary. Any other role is just a gesture.

  • I pray for the day when soldiers won't be needred anymore.

  • me encantaaa

  • It's horrible they used such a wonderful song for such a horrible movie that so incredibly against the point of the song.

Written for people who defied imperialism, now misused to praise imperialist mercenaries.

  • @borbo23 You don't know much about Somalia do ya?

  • @LexPhilogus Clearly you don't if you think the American goal was to really help them.

  • @borbo23 Okay, let's play a little game. Why don't you quiz me on this conflict ? My guess is that you won't be able to come up with anything.

*Bubububububu it was about robbing Africans of their natural resources herp derp.*

  • @LexPhilogus I'm not going to play your silly games, but I reassert; if you think we were trying to remove a warlord out of the kindness of our hearts, and not because it helped American power, then you are unbelievably naive.

What we do in other countries is always dictated by how it affects American interests. Before we were trying to "help" the people there we installed warlords. Same with Saddam Hussein, same a thousand times over around the world.

  • @borbo23 One of the greatest criticisms of the involvement in Somalia by the right wing, was that it served no national interest. What evidence do you have that the United States had some ulterior motive behind it except for peacekeeping ? "if you think we were trying to remove a warlord out of the kindness of our hearts"

Aidid murdered UN peacekeepers many of whom were not even American. I guess they were just there to serve American interests as well.

  • @LexPhilogus This only shows that there is not always a consensus on what the two parties think is in our interests. I don't believe the Dems do things out of the goodness of their hearts any more than the Republicans.

You pretty much just explained why they did it; the deaths of UN soldiers couldn't go unrevenged. In the case of the UN, it was simply in the interest of the countries involved to be involved. The UN is just a tool for world powers.

  • In a lot of countries the Soldier has taken away Freedom, Life and Happiness. Anybody with the courage to do the right thing has given us the rights we value so much. A soldier is just a soldier. Nothing more. A uniform doesn't give the courage to do the right thing.

  • @Pangolinus And yet the courage to wear the uniform is more than many will ever have.

  • @Seisachtheia The courage to do the right thing is more than many will ever have. Wearing a uniform (a, not the) is just this: wearing a uniform. As a soldier you could be a good guy, you could be a bad guy. You could do the right thing, you could do the wrong thing. Like everyone else. As I said, soldier in a lot of countries have taken away a lot of rights, so > praise who do the right thing, soldiers don't always do the right thing.

  • @Pangolinus hey i recommend you check out st.patricks battalion. its really a great story(fact) about how soldiers saw what they were doing was wrong and changed sides to fight for their "enemy". to me thats what a real soldier is. they were called traitors but they fought for what was right. not soldiers who blindly fight for their country. and thats why i think army's are wrong. army's should be raised when they are needed. not standing armies which are brainwashed and provocative.

  • @johnnyapplezz Well, in my country a lot of soldiers were killed by Germans after Italy surrendered to Allied forces, and a lot of soldiers joined the Resistance against the German occupation. But I will check your story, and I suggest you to read something about the Italian Resistance during WWII. Anyway I'm not against armies, they're just an instrument of a Country. Armies are not wrong per se, it's their use by a Country. By the way, I'm against the idealization of the soldiers.

  • @johnnyapplezz otherwize known as the San Patricios

  • @Pangolinus: Well said.

  • @buttflop Thanks, pal.=)

  • @Pangolinus It sure as fuck does, when others around you are wearing that same uniform and you witness their suffering. You will find the courage, because they would find the courage for you. Apart from that your statement is 100%

  • @Pangolinus That is a true but this a video referencing US soldiers who have traditionally defended the ideals and liberties of this republic.

  • @duneranger Someone spoke of "The Soldier", not the "US Soldier". And by the way some US soldiers are responsible of horrible crimes (try google Mahmudiyah killings). Soldiers of any country could be good or bad guys, because they're first and foremost people, and a uniform can't change what kind of person you are. I think soldiers should be supported, not idealized. People could do horrible things, and idealize someone could blind us about the truth.

  • @Pangolinus Haha I expected you to name some isolated incident in the current war. Tell me how many soldiers have passed through deployments and compare that number to warfare crimes. Soldiers take an oath to support and defend, I am more afraid of the average citizen who is uninformed and easily twisted by the serpent rhetoric and dogma heard all over the media. I don't glorify every soldiers as a demi-god or champion of humanity, but I would trust them well before any of America's majority.

  • @duneranger I listen to no one dogma. Not media's, not yours.=P Simply I think that people who could easily kill because they're in a foreign country, they've guns and there are a lot of problems with security should be watched very carefully and "isolated incidents" should not be easily dismissed. They have a great power, and I do not trust anyone with a lot of power.=) Journalists, politicians and soldiers alike.

  • @Pangolinus There's a difference between a soldier and a thug.

  • @Pangolinus... Meh. Your statement lies not heavy on my shoulders for my soldiers are 'merican.

  • @Pangolinus... Germany, Russia, Talib... crap even England, not so much. But ya the 'Merican uniform DOES.

Member tis that uniform that makes your post/response possible.

  • @JOEYader

Bullshit. The American soldier does as he's told, by those higher up than him. They'll intervene where it's convenient, and America's interests are directly threatened. They're fighters, not paladins. That's what history has shown us.

  • @Pangolinus

There's a big difference to those who sacrifice themselves out of duty and love of country as oppose to those who do so out of violence. Many of these men and women serve on the battlefield, not kill the innocent in a crowded market, or do they kill the civilians to serve a tyrannical regime. I pity those who don't understand the difference between them because those people truly take the liberty that the free peoples of the world enjoy for granted.

  • @Pangolinus

A soldier is so much more. The right for you to even post this comment was given to you, has been protected by, and always will be defended by SOLDIERS. Consider yourself blessed, Everyday.

  • @rss898 God Bless America and your people. America is the one.

  • @Pangolinus

Consider yourself blessed to be able to even post such a comment. It is your very freedom to do so, but only because soldiers sacrificed for it.

  • @Pangolinus You, quite obviously, have a very narrow view of what a soldier is.

  • @Pangolinus it's not the uniform but the courage and heart of those who wear that make all the difference.

  • @Pangolinus I find your statements to include "a soldier is just a soldier" laughable. Words spoken by someone who never had the courage to put the uniform on. Good luck stopping that terrorist trying to blow you up with kind words and songs of love and peace. You are correct that a uniform does not give you the courage but it is a huge step in that direction. A giant leap forward in the direction of courage compared to people who sit on a computer and question the soldier courage/bravery

  • @emilythesamurai1 the uniform has nothing to do with it ... the man, your brother next you does ..ask any combat vet, you don't kill for the flag, for god, country , corps .. its about protecting the man next to you ... to this day I'd lay down my life willingly for any of my brother Marines

  • @emilythesamurai1 i agree with u man because of the fact that if it wasn't for soldiers we wouldn't be free

  • @TsumeBeta038 And I disagree with you, because we are in fact not free.

  • @emilythesamurai1

I was a soldier, "samurai". I served my country as a Bersagliere, as a volunteer. When I turned 18 going to the nearest military district was the first thing I did. So do not ever think you know who I am, and why I say what I say. I laugh of you, a person who really thinks that saying that a uniform is nothing more than a dress, and soldier is just a profession, means I'm a '68 pacifist. I'm pragmatic, simply that.

  • @Pangolinus You were dumb and naïeve. That's all I can say. Wearing an uniform for me only let me know you were indoctrined by your country's propaganda to join the army. Apparently you value your life very low since you are willing to risk by taking duty. But I guess you will never understand people like me who laugh at people like you.

  • @oranjuh LOL back at cha comes the Revolution people like you go to the wall,. see you and the other side of the barricades good buddy

  • @Pangolinus-And I suppose we should fight without weapons? It’s the valor and honor of wearing the uniform and the pride of living in this AWESOME country that people have forgotten. Yes it is the person that makes the uniform but it is the uniform that identifies the person who wears it. If you wear a uniform you’d understand. If a soldier is nothing more than a soldier than why do I have 4 generations of uniforms in my closet to include my own?

  • @cwaterbug01

I really don't know of what country you're speaking of and I really don't care. You could have a lot of uniforms, and I still don't care. You could be proud of that, good to you. But facts remain: in a lot of country soldiers took away freedom. You could use rhetoric, and even now I don't care. I'm pragmatic: soldier is just a profession. It's the individual that matters. And I was a soldier (Bersagliere). I use my own brain, and see how things really are.
