This video helped us realize what adopted shelter dog more then likely is. The shelter had him down as Chihuahua mix and couldn't tell us what else. My daughter and I happened to be looking at a book of dogs and saw Basenji. When I googled chihuahua and Basenji mix your video showed and it was our dog! Thanks for the post.
This looks like my dog, only she has some black flecks with the brown, but looks otherwise the same, a little smaller! Trying to figure out what kind of dog she is. CUTE dog! She was a stray. Someone told us she was Basenji, and now looking at mixes, i think they're right.
I call mine a Basenjihuahua :) his name is Tony. He has the same face as this cutie, but the size and body style of a Basenji.
He is a very active, and unique dog. He has epilepsy, due to his chihuahua genes, but so far it is controllable with fairly inexpensive medication. Tony does bark, but also has many other vocalizations, including whining and cooing like a dove.
People don't know that Basenjis aren't capable of barking, it's this breed aspect that we see in the video, it's not in pain or distressed, that's the basenji part of him expressing himself. Some people really, making comments without knowing the breed charactersistics, you're not mean at all.
We have the same type and color dog. Benji is absolutely a wild boy. He is still a puppy close to two years old. I guess he will always be a puppy. When my husband howls he loves to howl with him. Benji can be across the room and run over to him so that they can sing a little song together... So cute.
We have a basinji chihuahua. We have had him almost 4 years and we knew his mama was a chihuahua from the rescue but we didn't know what daddy was until a friend came over this weekend and asked us if that was a basinji. Our dog is so much like your dog. And Zeke whines, too. He does bark. He loves squirrels.

aw basenji's are so cute....they are known to cry like this more common than other dogs. Yeah, it has a chihuahua face and a basenji body :)
