Just lost my rottie :'( to the person afraid to get one, you should know that people who have bad opinions about the breed most likely have never owned one! When raised right, they are the most loyal, loving large lapdogs you'll ever meet.
My grandma had one of these. Her name was "hope". I first met her when I was like 5 years old. Wasn't till I was about 7 that my brother proved to me that she was gentle and would always look after us. He pulled me into the kitchen, locked the door and opened the other door that lead to the basement (where hope lived). She ran up the stairs quick! I was kinda crying... then she got up close to me and began to lick my arms and somewhat cuddle into my tummy. I'm 20 now and miss her so much. r.i.p
I have a puppy (9months) named LOGAN who looks and does exactly that! :) he's so smart and loveable! by far the best dog i've EVER had! :) glad to see that they stay like that forever!
Hi, Just picked up my pup yesterday and he is settling in great, inbetween his bursts of energy and madness haha, I've put a couple of vids up on my account and will update regularly, His name is Loki.
when i tell my boy the word ''walkies'' or ''you're comin with me'' he'll run to the door n wait. sometimes he'll get that excited he'll grab the leash and bring it to me haha
@Simplemindedgenius LOL, of course! They go out for walkies every day - usually late afternoon, but they start nagging me at about 3pm. If I leave my desk they trot along behind me, and if they see me start to change into my walking shoes, they KNOW it's time.
@mom1902 Aww cute, I'm picking my first Rottweiler Puppy up in 3 weeks time and I can't wait, Previously had a Boxer who I said goodbye to after 10 years in June. He will be raised corrrectly and will be a family dog, They seem an excellent breed :)
@Simplemindedgenius Sooo jealous! I'd love a new puppy but I've just adopted a retired guide dog (making three) so I can't manage any more right now. They are an excellent breed - don't forget to post vids of the pup for us all to see.
@MetalHeadImCool I know there are a lot of misconceptions out there about rotties. SUCH rubbish! If you get a puppy from a reputable breeder and take him/her for puppy socialization immediately from eight weeks of age - again to a trainer that knows what they're doing, you'll be well on your way to having a balanced, affectionate dog. Educate yourself in how to raise your pup - NO hitting EVER, NO harsh training methods, reward-based training rather than any punishment at all. Good luck!
@mom1902 i hit my pitbull but he never barks at anyone or attacks other dogs and sleeps in my room so its not like if you hit them it will make them attack you i 'hit' not abuse him as long as you treat them good any dog will stay loyal and never attack you.
@MetalHeadImCool they will only attack u if u treat him/her badly if u beat them ect they are bound to be nasty a rotty is just as nice as any other dog the reason rottys have such bad name is due to the wankers that beat them and make them the way they are u treat a rotty with love and respect u will get the same in return from your dog
Respond to this video... a rotty is probably better temepered than i jack russell the difference is when a rotty decides to lose it then they do sum serious damage where as a jack russell doest do as much so treat a rotty the way u would want to be treated and u will have no problem stop listening to narrow minded fuks and think for your self
@MetalHeadImCool I miss my Rottweiler Otto Horribly, been 76 years he's gone... I think of him often.. he used to "took" his head all of the time, like he grasped what was being spoken to him.. though that action of the head is more acknowledgement, they are always active listeners... and ready to do whatever you want to do.. with you.. they truly are friends or some form of partner versus just being the dog.. so to speak... he's gorgeous.
@MetalHeadImCool, We just got a rotti and she is an amazing dog. We've had her for about 2 months and she is a cuddle bear, she loves kisses and hugs, and loves to always be by us. We have 2 small children so we have to becareful to not leave em alone, roxxi the dog wont harm them but with all her strength might lay on them and they are both small and my dog is pretty big for 5 months. Hope you make a good decision. They are no bad dogs, just bad owners.
@MetalHeadImCool We have owned, fostered & rehabiltated many of these dogs over the years. I can honestly tell you we had an issue only once due to the animal suffering severe abuse. He took about an extra six months of work.If you have the time & space they are amazing animals when treated with love.
@MetalHeadImCool If you're not so sure, i suggest you to take female...So easier to handle than males, because males are trying to be so dominant... mom1902 told everything you need to know, exept you can train your dog by your own...Just use methods like mom1902 explaind..Rotts are great dogs, smart, happy in training..I own two rottweilers, great, just great dogs..Good luck
@MetalHeadImCool I have raised 3 rotties now and they are the smartest most well behave dogs that I have ever had the pleasure of raising. To date I have owned an English Bulldog, Boxer, Chihuahua, and German Sheppard. I would have traded them all for a Rottie. Don't listen to anyone, train them right and you will never want another breed again.
@MetalHeadImCool You know what, my sister has had her rottie Lucifer for four years, he's never once turned on her, he's NEVER bit anyone, he loves to snuggle in her lap, he treats her like she is god, and his whole life is here to please her. Believe me you get a Rot, and it will NEVER turn on you. Training is important, but I'd rather have a full grown rot, than a another Chi that nips and bites on a daily basis, just because it can.
@MetalHeadImCool I would recommend buying a German line rottweiler, they are more expressive and healthier, they are slightly bulkier than the Americanized version, and more loyal. Americanized rottweilers tend to be aggressive and unhealthy from over breeding. I would also recommend that you speak with the breeder about reserving a puppy without its tail cropped, as dogs with tails are less likely to have hip problems. Train and socialize it well as a pup!
@MetalHeadImCool My last dog was a rottie/chow mix I found as a stray puppy- some would consider that a "dangerous" combination given both breeds have bad bite histories. But she was the best dog ever, the perfect combination of being a gentle giant, loving and cuddly with the family while still being reserved (but not violent!) with strangers and was very protective of us. A great dog...all rotties I've met have been big cuddly teddy bears, train them well and they are the best dogs.
@MetalHeadImCool I've had dogs my entire life. My Rott was the best of them all. Smart, Loyal, Kind, good with kids. You just need to treat it well. Only negative is sometimes they get moody, like a person. Usually its about them being lazy, wanting to sleep, and you come and wake them up. They'll just lay there, maybe bark at you to leave them alone... So much like us....
@MetalHeadImCool Trust me! I had a rottweiler (may he rest) and he was the best dog in the world! Even if he's the biggest sweetpie cream puff in the world, you can still go for a walk and feel totally protected because they've got that look! LOVE them
@keanetobin We had a Rottie that was free to roam the neighbourhood. He was socialised very early and was very well behaved. Everyone felt safe with him around. Unfortunately he had to be put down because some evil gutter rat broke his back.
@MetalHeadImCool A Rottie and Dobie are far superior in temperament than ALL other supposedly cute and safe breeds. The Rottie is very philosophical and immensely patient/tolerable; Dobie very restrained and disciplined. Both bred to be the best a dog can be and it shows. Unfortunately, not all people are bred well or brought up to be good people. They then ruin these dogs and the bred gets the bad reputation, utterly shambolic.
@MetalHeadImCool I'm on my second Rescue Rottweiler.. I love them so much.. They have such amazing personalities. I will ALWAYS have in my life. Must keep the socialized, also, obedience training. They'll do anything to please their people.. When I walk my little resuce mutt, shown in this pic, and my Rottie, everyone is afraid of the Rottie and wants to pet the little one. The Rottie is the NICE ONE..lol Good luck!
The thing that sucked about her always following me is that I could NEVER win a game of hide-&-seek with my brother. She gave me away EVERY time. Darn dog. LoL. She always slept in my room & when I closed my door she'd stand there & paw @ it or breath hard under it till I opened it. NO1 could come in my room w/out her growling a warning. *sigh* I miss that dog. I'm 28, & missing a dog I had when I was 11. What a baby. LoL. I have GOT to get another one.
My girl Rottie used to literally follow me EVERYWHERE... I couldn't even use the bathroom in peace... she'd sit outside the door breathing all heavy under it for a while, then she'd sit with her back against the door till I came out. Sometimes I'd get up & run to the bathroom for no reason just to hear her run behind me & stick her nose under the door. Then I'd come out & run past her again & sit back in my place. It was so funny.
