  • JUST + ONLY : THANX FOR SHARING !!! SO GREAT !!!

  • love that popcorn guitar sound sound 0:49 !

  • @yootesa1515 That would be palm muting--you mute the string with the palm/heel of your picking hand, the result being that "clicky" sort of sound.

  • @goldenenergy dude lol i toatly know that

  • the Surf sub genre still endures...doesn't matter who's "better" as long as it's done right. These guys just get it right more...

  • This is just too cool... I think I found my new favorite band.

  • @sanetteaS They have been my favorite since 1995. An uncle had their best of cd. One listen and I was hooked on The Ventures sound. I have heard their tunes on the radio before then but did not know who it was. They will always be the masters of instrumental/surf guitar. They are the standard. I have seen them live in concert two times (05/17/08 & 06/05/09) and hope to see them again. A must see band!

  • The matchin suits and goofy smiles and along with the dance moves are too much lol great music but such cheesy gimmicks

  • Great band!

  • Nice to meet you. I am Japanese.

For a Japanese, The Ventures is the grand group.

For an American, what kind of ROCK-UNIT is the ventures?

    Please tell me.

  • @iwgpventures I have several of their initial 1960s Japanese LP presssings. Basically, they are are an instrumental early rock n roll band, which made several innovations that have inspired so many artists, and yet are not often remembered here by the general public, but in your country, Japan, where they are more popular than the Beatles, even though they heavily influenced that group as well.

y mom clerked for Alan Freed, the father of Roll n Roll during 1950s,he realized their talent too

  • @RapidCopySales

    Thank you very much.

  • @RapidCopySales

I was born in 1967 Japan, and My mother worked in the US Navy base of

    Yokosuka Japan.

My mother had a lot of LP presssings of The Ventures.

I was impressed to hear them which mother had in the days of 6 years old.

And, 12 years old, I started an exercise of guitar.

And now,42 years old,I am charmed again by The Ventures sounds.

I'm sorry by clumsy English writings.

  • @iwgpventures Listen to The Shadows you'll forget The Ventures

  • @fincaman2

I like The Shadows too,Because Their sound is cool very much.

And ,I like Barney Kessel who was Jazz guitar player.

  • @iwgpventures - lost of people call the Ventures a 'surf' group but they actually only a portion of their stuff was surf. They were an Instrumental Rock & Roll group.

  • @BobTheRecordGuy So true! as Don Wilson of The Ventures says we are not a surf group but we are a rock n roll group that also plays surf.

  • @1062venturesfan somebody wrote a lyric to this song " down on the beach at diamond head down on the beach at diamond head was where i fucked a girl until she met you"

  • Nice video, thank you. A performer who dresses well and looks clean and tidy is showing respect for his audience. Many of today's celebrities look as if they haven't had a bath for weeks.

  • @videofan792 Really? Who? I love the Ventures but this comment sounds like something my grandfather would say in 1972.

  • @plangentmusic It was true in 1972 and it's more true now. The Rolling Stones Kiss Ozzie Osborne Willie Nelson Madonna Anna Nicole Smith Christina Aguilera Paris Hilton Britney Spears Bret Michaels Mark Wahlberg Jon Bon Jovi Johnny Rotten Shaun Ryder Lenny Kravitz Axl Rose Liam Gallagher Steven Tyler Just to name a few I'd be afraid to touch for fear of catching 9 kinds of syphilis. When you fit in with them, you can't recognize it.
  • I'd love to have a chat with the four people who thumbed down this video. They MUST be insane.

  • Very cool..They even got screams..:)

  • quiero una de esas guitarrascheeeee

  • Mmmm..

  • i love this song its alot of fun to play to

  • Hahahah! One of the Ventures first drummer, George T. Babbit ended up being a 4-star Air Force General.....I thought the story was not true but I checked it out----It is true. Can you image that---a Rock drummer being an Air Force General! hahahah

  • AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!

    lol

  • Bustin' Hank Marvin and the Shads moves.

  • There should be an episode of Spongbob where he's getting stoned and watching this video on his TV

  • real diamond

  • best song ever.. even in japan they recognize this song as one of the best song.

  • Love this band!!!

  • One of two best fully instrumental guitar band in the world. The other band is The Shadows

  • Comment removed

  • BTW, "Diamond Head" is, IMO, the very coolest Ventures tune, and exhibits the real heart and soul of surf music.

  • This was by far and away the very best Ventures line up!

  • No - I repeat, what are you on?

  • /watch?v=0kNEo8OxrT8

    at around 3:49.

  • Stairway to heaven? What are you on?

  • He meant that surf guitar break in Stairway To Heaven...you know. ;D

  • as far as playing the lick on the fifth fret, its exactly the same chords in parts

  • Reminds me of Stairway to Heaven at parts.

  • word is that at the beginnings, The Ventures tried to play like Les Paul & Chet Atkins but they couldn't imitate the speed until somebody told them that the recordings were specially made to speed them up but, thying to do this,. they mastered the digitation on their guitars Do you guys out there believe this ??

  • Is this true ? That is quite interesting to know.

  • @jose1mannix - no. The Ventures don't demonstrate any drop dead amazing "mastery of digitation," Les Paul's freaky alien parts are actually impossible to play without speeding the tape (the guita won't play that high), and Chet Atkins records are not speeded up. So, the whole story is wrong.

  • Did Dick Dale have anything to do with the Ventures?

  • Best drummer ever

  • Mike Portnoy go home

  • what's up with that scary riff at :5? weird and awesome.

  • :59, that is...

  • THE VENTURES ARE THE BEST!!

    Amen.

  • Awesome!!!!

  • siiii el surf lo parteeee

    que guitarreo que estilo

  • I surmise the lead guitarist was related to Chet Atkins, they seem to have a very similar demeanor. Thanks for sharing and posting!

  • Not related, but I think it's fair to say Chet was a mentor to Nokie.

  • This stuff just makes me happy :)

  • they are fantastic

  • WICKED!!! i love how their all smiling, chill'n lol

  • Of course I have heard of the Ventures but until Bob's passing I never really knew their music. Now I am hooked! I've been watching / listening to everything I can find.

Bob lived a long life and he lived it doing what he loved. He always looks so happy when he is performing! If the same can be said about me when my time comes, I want no tears, only celebration.

Thanks Bob (and Mel, and the rest) for the wonderful music!

  • You are welcome to see my uploads, or contact me if you have questions about the ventures.

  • Bob Bogal is one of the co-founders of The Ventures (with Don Wilson), he was the lead guitarist from 59-63, Then he & Nokie Edwards traded ( Bob went to bass & Nokie went to lead), he was playing until 7-16-09 when he passed-on.

  • This year seems to be a crappy year with all the people dying.

  • totally.weve lost 6 icons?

  • Sorry to hear that - ( Bob Bogle ) - you brought such magic - many listening hours and more to come ..

  • i didn't know that Bob passed away.

    Rest In Peace man.

    Bob Bogle

    1934-2009

  • with all respects to the late guitarist Bob Bogle. we will always remember his great guitar performance. :-)

  • ボブボーグルさんが亡くなられました

    私もベースをたしなむ者として残念です。

    i love bob

  • RIP, Bob

  • The Drummer had one of the Best meters that played a single set along with .Ringo..Charlie Watts/Don Brewer.

  • Super cool!! :) Was that from SHINDIG??

  • They play bass with a pick because they switch from guitar.

  • Oh man these dudes rock. I just saw them at disney world... Best part of the whole trip

  • The Ventures out sold the beatles in album sales in Japan.

  • Fucken sick reverb

  • this band has something like 400 albums, well a lot lol

  • i'm diggin those smiles

  • the ventures tried to hold unto the great heyday of the rockin' instrumentationl till the end .i'm trying to think of more than a couple in the late 60'snon vocal hits--i guess classical gas comes to mind but it was the 70's till we had instrumentals that charted.the ventures were absolutely a tall talent but just weren't embraced after the 60's.

  • Oreha nikai suteejiwo miniitta!

    Imadani genekidatoha odoroki dazeli!

  • Ventures on paras bändi kaikista!

  • I still remember when a band in my hometown checking that `guitar chord' as they were practising for the NEWYEAR 1972!!I sat there and relished on the awesome music creations of the VENTURES...!!

  • Umm yeah, this song is the jam.

  • Sounds like Don is running through a fuzz box, er somethin'.

  • thats just reverb

  • Yep, too much reverv always has a "water dripping into puddle sound".

  • Never can have too much reverb.

  • yes you can, unless you want to have a tone that sounds like ET' masturbating.

  • that's quite an image you've painted in my head

  • They don't call me Mr. Simile for nothing.

  • great i love ventures

  • excellent superb

  • The Ventures は、デビュー当時からの大フアンですが、この動画の様に体でリズムをとって演奏しているのを見るのは初めてです。

  • Sorry, can you tell me what that means in English? By the way, I really like the Ventures. Old soldiers never die. :-)# Oh, I'm from Holland.

  • Great !!

I love this one best of all the Ventures' songs.

    They were so young ...

  • this song is a masterpiece!

  • Original footage. Classic video. This is a great one. :-) This is what we call good and sensible music. Greater than any "famous" pop music that exists in the present time. All hails.

  • Their unique sound drives the show, they don't need all kinds of gimmicks to distract from their live playing, they hardly move and at the same time ROCK LIKE HELL ;-)# It's from Live in Japan '65, which was recorded nine years before I was even born. And more than forty years later, they still perform! I think they are the COOLEST old geezers alive!

  • no its from Shindig.

  • Oh, they play it on Live in Japan '65 too. Sorry, I must have been mistaken.
