I've got to admit that I wasn't too big on the first half of this show, but once the Freedom showed up everything just got better from there.

between the japanese and english version the jap version of gundam seed is very different from the english version.

I think many people got annoyed after Kira received Freedom since all he did was beam spam. Destiny was pretty good at first but turned crappy halfway through, though...

@illusionmagician Well, that IS what it was designed for. The freedom was ment to be a one suit firing brigade, while Justice was the oppasite, a one suit rain of swords.

And with that in mind it makes sence Kira wold beam spam, because that's the Freedom best fight style.

Seed doesnt deserve haters. Maybe Destiny does, though it has a few good/great moments too, but Seed itself is quite a nice distillation of the UC timeline.

The first time I saw Gundam Seed airing on YTV I was overwhelmed by the best feeling in the world as soon as Kira showed up stopping the destruction of the ArchAngel.

Imagine Kira is like Battousai piloting a mobile suit.... the eyes... and doesn't kill any pilots there. Plus the music reminds of the same T.M. revolution song Heart and Sword.

Aside from that above... the best and most touching Gundam Seed scene ever made. :D

@9900345 Well regarding the RG or the MG, there are a few big differences.

The MG is older, it was a kit released in 2004, compared to the RG which is, 2011.

Starting with the price, the MG now is ~$60 where the RG is ~$35. Second is the scale, MG is 1/00 compared to the RG, 1/144. The RG is amazing, for it's small scale the attention and level of detail.

The MG has more of the pure feel, where it leaves opportunity for one to touch up and paint.

So it depends on personal preference.

I never understood the hatred to Gundam Seed with Universal Century Purists, sure it is almost a modern retelling of the original series in another universe.

It is a great entry point for people who want to start watching Gundam without having to know anything about any of the universes.

Anyway, this isn't the absolute best Gundam, nor is it the worst I have seen. The best I have seen is Unicorn so far, and the worst I have seen is 08th MS Squad (that was painful)

@madhatten00 Agreed, I really did enjoy 08th MS team although I have to slightly disagree with you on the ending, the ending of the OVA kind of tied the story together so it's a decent ending.

@xSkye629x Actually the Kira vs. Shinn battle in the episode Nightmare was legit it's just ignorance of what was going on by most viewers that causes flame wars. The most common misconception is that there was a nuclear explosion when there was none the final explosion seen in that episode was generated by the Minerva's positron cannon clipping the Archangel's engines, another misconception is that the Freedom was impaled in the cockpit when in fact it was impaled just below it.

@JerzeyDevil82 Unicorn is alright. It's not the greatest thing every and has quite a few problems. Turn A and 0080 are the only 100% solid great Gundam anime's out there, WIth the next best being MSG, zeta, Gundam X, and G, and ZZ if you like it.

@DragonTwister11 It's a shame SEED had such awful character designs and overall animation. It was the first Gundam done with Digital Animation, so I guess it gets a pass for that.

Hopefully they fix all the flat colors and "shinyness" of everything with the HD Remake that is coming out early 2012.
