  • That's all-clad cookware! Good stuff but I find it difficult to spend $1500+ for the full 14 piece set. My calphalon does me well. Must be nice...

  • I hate unitaskers jock!!!

  • i knew it...Tamales and ELIEN VS PREDATOR does have a connection..

  • I hate snakes jock!

  • Nothing beats pork tamales.

  • shame they didn't talk about the Guatemalan version of the tamal and tortilla; and a Pache isn't the Guatemalan version, it's a tamal made with potato based masa made in the Guatemalan highlands mainly Quetzaltenango. Also Colombia as a Central American country? Get Alton a map please.

  • Ha, Love the Indiana Jones reference :D

  • @degen83 "You see Mr. Brown, there is nothing you can posess that I cannot talk about more than you."

    -Deb Duchon, Nutritional Anthropologist

  • I love Alton Brown, don't get me wrong, but the masa is too darned stiff. The tamals are much lighter when you get the consistency more like a thick cake batter! Trust me - I live in Mexico and have been doing so for the past 4 years! :) I make them "corn husk to eating" in 2 hours flat!

  • lol some central american countries like colombia? wow...big fail

  • those tamales are very small,. south american ones are much bigger , and we use banana leafs, taste BETTER!, try PERUVIAN tamales, VERY very tasty!!

  • @Alex052480 Those are Northern Mexican tamales. But there are really a huge variety of tamales in Mexico, about 5000 to be exact, that vary in size, texture, and size. Masa made from plantain, yuca, poatoes, corn, wheat, beans, chia, oats, quintonil etc....Also wrapped in corn husks fresh and dried, banana leafs, agave paper, hoja santa, pozol, milinillo, huilimole, cherimole, frutilla etc....The names vary as well like vaporcitos, tamales, nacatamal, envueltos, corundas, zacahuil etc...

  • "Without the Aztec we wouldn't have the alien vs predator films."

...I need to go back in time to stop those films from being made.

  • this dude is awesome :D

  • Talk about fucking up a tamale. Don't try this at home

  • i stopped watching when he busted out the turkey legs. historically correct, sure. but nearly as good as pork or beef? no sir.

  • @TheEyesOfDanger And then he brings out lard later. So they had lard but no pork, Alton? >_>

  • This is bad. Gabacho tamales.

  • im about to make these in 10 min :)

  • i like hot tamales

  • how the hell did he get that much shredded meat from 2 legs? Thats tv i guess

  • I know the Perrys Mr Brown YOUR THE BEST : )

  • wow... that's one hot party.

  • He didn't even have to say "Nutritional Anthropologist."

  • i love this show!

  • I HATE those kind of tamales. When I was working in Texas the Mexican guys would bring in the best tamales from their wives to sell. AUTHENTIC. They were not huge like that. They were about the width of 2 fingers. The dough was not dry and crumbly. It was moist but not wet. The filling was not slimy and sloppy. It was drained and pressed. Everyday they had PERFECT tamales. In Chicago all you can find are those jumbo, sloppy, nasty tamales. Unless you've had a REAL tamale, you just don't know.

  • @kuei1248 yea those are more like the real tamales just like the tacos they r really small in mexico but here in usa they r like double the size

  • @kuei1248 do try tamales at frontera grill

  • Awesome tune at 6:18 hehehe great cover!

  • Mmm, my mom made tamales last night. Filling: black beans (just a few), chile poblano sauce & panela cheese. Excellent eats :)

  • We have a guy about 1/2 a block from my house who makes his own tamales every weekend and sells then for about 75 cents each...Greatest things I have ever tasted. I can't eat any other tamales cause his are the best.

  • Wow!!!! So that's what happened to Thomas Dolby.

  • HOT PLATE!

  • I would so bang Alton. I'll give you a good eat, baby ;)

  • @kranca1000 O.0

  • I GUESS ALTON is not as sharp on his geography as he is on his food lol!, SINCE when is Colombia in Central America !??/...wtf..

  • @Alex052480 Your right for Colombia is in northwestern South America. Sounds slightly awkward. I know.

  • Man, I love all the gags and references Alton crams into Good Eats.

6:17: a riff on Howard Scott Band's "Low Rider!"

  • lol, my families Thanksgiving tradition is turkey tamales.

  • Things like the Raiders of the Lost Ark reference are why I love this show.

  • Don't forget the James Bond Reference in the name as well as a direct reference to AVP!!! He always has some pop culture in the name!

  • I love Good Eats, but my biggest pet peeve is when people spell country names wrong. Its COLOMBIA not ColUmbia!

  • So I suppose you get mad at people who call Deutschland Germany, the Hellenic Republic Greece, or Nippon Japan. Geez, chill out.

  • AVP....Wow alton, I love you, ur such a nerd! XDDD

  • DEB DUCHON IS EVIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Is she as evil as stuffing?

  • You haven't seen the stuffing episode.

    She's far more evil.

  • probably menudo ( sry Mexicans if i spelled it wrong)

  • One time. I don't think you have given them the chance that they deserve. If you just don't like the flavor of their food, that is alright. I just think you should give them a chance.

  • Their food tastes fine for home cooking, it's just a bit dubious is all.

  • Hot Plate!!!

  • YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Yay! Deb!

  • Nice Indiana Jones bit.

  • yay!! thanks for the up :D

  • I just realized he cut his hair again! YAY!!!

    Great show! I LOVE tamales!!

  • Yeah, the old hair was a little midlife-crisis-y. This looks sooooo much better. Even though an AB by any other haircut would still cook as sweet. :)

  • Awesome I was waiting for this

  • FINALLY!! Thank you!!
