Obviously, you don't start someone on extreme terrain on their first lesson and with a camera crew. These vehicles can do things you wouldn't believe unless you experienced it yourself. I've watched a stock LR3 outperform a couple dozen "old school" off-road vehicles on a rock climb. Same thing on sand, mud etc. They can't do deep ruts because of tire size, but technology beats old school.

My Rover was the first to do the Stillwell road in Burma since 1953, I think I can safely say it rocks!

I dont know if land rover still does it, but when you buy a new LR they send you to off road school. I went to one taught by driving dynamics, it was alot of fun.

i know he didnt really test its abilities but offroading isnt always about driving through mud sand and hard dry surfaces with more contours hills axle twisters rocks whatever its all offroading you have to have skill its not all about pedal to the metal mud plugging!

MoveOnDotOrgg: I grew up in East Africa, and know from experience that both vehicles are superb in the bush. It's a matter of personal preference. The Land Cruisers we have over there are the REAL deal, not the pussy-assed ones you see here in the states. Same goes for the Land Rovers. The ones they ship out that way are tough as nails and run on the worst grade fuel. Perhaps you should think before you comment on something like this again.

Land Rover nice to look at, fun to drive, but WILL NOT make it to 200k miles before having to replace major componenets, heat and electrical.
