WHY CANT THERE BE A SCHOOL LIKE THIS WHERE I LIVE I SEE STRAIGHT TECHNIQUE ON EVERYTHING no one is forcing anything very patient and flows im like wow the whole time i cant wait till i can develop my tech like that
@cadillacboi420 The reason why you won't see many schools like this where you or i live is because BJJ or MMA in general for that matter has now sadly become more about money. The business potential of this beautiful art is so promising that it prompted all the enthusiasts to come out of the woodworks in an effort to cash in on this gold rush. All the Karate schools that were open just 5 years ago have now turned into BJJ or MMA schools. You have to be very careful of who's teaching you and why.
Darn it! Do you guys need any RF engineers down there in Bend OR? Every time I see one of these demos it just makes me want to move there to train with Master Dean and his top notch students! Great Job Rick! well deserved purple belt. I hope to meet you and your team mates some day. I'm planning a visit to your school for the later part of this year and plan to get my rear handed to me so I can learn something, lol.
Roy Dean requires a specific number of techniques from each position, as well as a certain number of three technique combinations (roughly 70 techniques total). It's up to each athlete to create their demo, which is why each one is a little different. The idea is to showcase techniques that reflect your particular game.
i noticed that every purple belt demo is a little different, is this because they get to choose the extra submissions, or do they pull from a group of techniques taught in class?
rick reminds me of howie mandell a bit..probably due to the bald head and goatee..but i remember watching the first blue belt demonstration a few years ago. its good to see that rick is still sticking with it. congrats!
@websslinger Yeah, that one is really good if you have problems with getting the hooks in while on his back.. Just stick in your arm between his shoulder and head and grab your own foot.. Then you can just slide of him and BAM - triangle
Well deserved purple.. I really enjoy watching this video. No one was using overwhelming strength or athleticism to their advantage. Everyone was very technical. It's beautiful display of BJJ
what is the name of the sweep at 1:56? and the actual submission at 2:59?

Sick transition into the triangle @ 02:53 It was like watching a magic trick. I had to watch a few times to figure out how he did it.
