  • I love the Clash especially in their early years!

  • I was lucky to see clash live. It was an amzing gig. Unfortunatly joe strummer, joey ramone, lux interior, jeffrey lee pierce and others went in the sky to early and they leave us alone

  • joe is drunk...

  • so much better live than the album version

  • I always thought he said Punks not dead XD this song rocks! RIP Joe!

  • if you want to know what punk is in less than a second, press 6 while watching this video

  • CRUNCH!... down he goes!

this is such a great video.

Talking about UK punk influences, yeah they all knew about the Ramones, but other NY or USA bands there was only patchy knowledge. The big difference between UK an USA punk is that UK had Glam Rock preceding it, bands like T REX, Bowie and Slade. If you get talking to some of the bands the name that keeps cropping up most is Roxy Music, but nobody ever fucking mentions this in the press cos they think they are arty & too intellectual.

  • @lazygazzzer

Must be the age I am but I know the big part Roxy and Bowie played before punk. The first idol I had was Marc Bolan, the first band I saw were Slade.

    God I feel old!!!

  • @lazygazzzer steve jones (pistols ) was a big roxy music fan

  • Theres nothing wrong with u Joe!

  • Joe was hit by a small bottle of britvic orange thrown by my mate to simonon the bassist who was gasping for a drink, on the next song he tries to smash said bottle on the stage while still groggy

  • Cool converse shoes he's wearing.

Now I can't wear em' without people calling me emo.

  • this song makes me wanna blow shit up!!!

  • @LaYziELoC7 Me too, even after 32 years, mental innit?

  • P.S. But some were from late '77

  • When my dad saw The Clash live at Middlebrough rock Garden in 1977, Joe Strummer apparantly slipped over on stage. He must have had some sort of problem with stage falling lol!

  • can buy this anywhere?, someone please reply

  • I am rocking out to this right now

    The Clash are intense

  • Mick looks like the woman from 'The Shining'

  • Topper!!!

  • i feel like this performance is a little sex pistol-style...

  • @fandangowz

    HA! HA! HA

  • @fandangowz fuck you for saying that the clash were a lot better than thouse perfume batty boys.

  • aww mick with his hair wet.. how cute!!

  • Usually i don't listen to this song.

But this is so awesome live!

  • simon cowell cn fuck off

  • 1:21 - as joe falls over, it seems as if the blonde guy in the front row reaches and snags the pedal.....but it could be somethin else

  • taylor1235 ~ i've seen other live versions of this song, and on those he falls over too.

  • omg!

  • fucking topper, just nailing those skins. Awesome.

  • haha when joe falls at the end, great music, great band , rip joe :)

  • yeah, and paul just looks down at him like "oh, joe's gotten a concussion again. what's next, garageland?"

  • when the chorus begins joe fuking looses control and thats the best part

  • New York Dolls Television, The Ramones, The Voidoids the Patti Smith Groupe

Then it goes over to england when the Ramones play at the roundhouse.McClaren has no possible coment to make to his Sex Pistols other than"Just Make it Chahotic!"thats how the Pistols developed their power.(McClaren was involeved in managing the New York Dolls)so england didnt invent punk, but think they did.Johnny Ramone himself told Paul Simonon to not wait until they were Jimi Pages and go for it strait away

  • @desasterz I love that ethic! go for it now - that's PUNK!

  • Here we are on TV

What does it mea to me

  • REST IN PEACE JOE STRUMMER.

  • yep... RIP

  • rip joe derbypunk

  • They really were the peoples band The Clash 4LIFE

  • grreat fuckin footage! thanks

  • The Clash is the best band ever and Joe is the best singer ever. This is one of the best songs in my opinion!

  • For me, this is religion: the guitars of Jones/Strummer, the bass of Simonon, the bloody great drums of Heddon, and of course the voice of Joe Strummer. Listening to this combination, saved me from being an ignorant arse! I still owe so much to this band, The only way to pay back is to spread the gospel of St Strummer. Rock on, fuck all authorities!

Power to the people, not just the rich bastards!

  • Amen. :)

  • Agreed!

  • Poor Joe falling , I must admit I did get a bit of a laugh from it! I love this song , one of the best Clash songs on my opinion!

  • damn, strummer seems to be like a live wire.

  • This was taken from Tony Wilson's Granada Programme "What's On". Filmed November 1977 at Manchester Appollo? Mick Hucknall is the ginger kid at the front.

  • THE CLASH fue, es y será la banda más importante de toda la historia del rock mundial. Aguante los CLASH, BIG AUDIO DYNAMITE, CARBON SILICON, MESCALEROS y HAVANA 3 AM. VIVA ARGENTINA!!

  • kl. I will go out and buy it

  • I think this might be from the movie Rude Boy. If you want to see great live footage of the Clash, you should definitely get it. It is available on DVD.

  • Yeah, I think it is Rude Boy. The film has some sort of plot but it is really worth getting for the live stuff and studio footage.

  • No it isn't, this from 1977, and Rude Boy was filmed in 1978. This from a TV special, where Joe ad-libbed "See the camera crews? Thats what you fuckin' paid for!"

  • The ramones were brilliant. But the clash are just so much better and this song is amazing. I wish i could of seen them live...

  • it looks like dead kennedy

    im i right?

  • the ramones are better

  • this isn't me fave clash song, but still fuckin sweet!!! THE CLASH!!!! R.I.P Joe Strummer

  • Mick Hucknall's on this somewhere, one of the Belle Vue songs anyway.

  • You're not alone, love it since '77, it's a great song. And Sex Pistols ruled too. You can't say Pistols sold out and don't criticize the fact Clash were on CBS playing mega stadiums. Do not get me wrong, I love The Clash but don't blame one group and accept it from the other. The '77 class all had their own original charm/style.

  • Dead wrong thats one of the best Clash songs love it as well, sorry my friend

  • Hell no, my friend. I fuckin' love this song.

  • All The Clash fans say they hate this song, probably just because Keith wrote it. Am I the only Clash fan who loves this track?

  • eheheh, you are non the one!

  • Mick jones är snyggast ;)

  • ive got this track and more from the same gig. Banshees etc, on video format, its good shit

  • Kommunistas, please get it and load them up!

  • Fuck off johnny anit in it! Its the fuckin clash no the sex puppets

  • aww bless he fell

erm and...where can you see Johnny Rotten in this video?

  • This is from the movie Punk And The Way We Were and Johnny Rotten is in it.btw Johnny always looks mean.

  • hi mate

I just watched the clash and i saw your comment that it was from a movie, can you still get this?i saw this on granada tv back in 1986 celebrating 10yr of punk,i thought it was a bunch of clips granada put together so is it an actual film then? cheers gaz

  • no it is a bunch of clips that granada put together,I downloaded it from pirate bay

  • @dystopia00 A lot of these clips were filmed in 1978 (eraly to mid) for the film "Rudeboy" which came out a year or two later. I don't know what John Lydon would be doing there. The Pistols split January '78 and Lydon was on a break in Jamaica etc and preparing stuff for his then new band PIL. He was fed up with the punk scene by then. I saw The Clash Autumn '78. They changed their image after I saw them...got rid of the zips and pockets etc.

  • @lkasflapytrs which is funny because he's actually a really nice guy

  • @lkasflapytrs This is from the movie rude boy which had nothing to do with Johnny Rotten. Rotten couldn't even read let alone make a movie not one with Joe at least.

  • @Camersnot that is true, rotten and strummer haaaaaaaated each other with a passion ... bless them

  • wicked! this is the clash at their best

  • omg this is some cool video footage. its is so funny when he falls .. i love it lol

  • JOHNNY ROTTEN LOOKS REAL MEAN IN THIS MOVIE

  • pure energy, f-ing great, it looked like it hurt when he fell

  • mick hucknell from simply red was in the audience, you can see him ,when joe strummer kneels down, lad with ginger hair ,thats mick hucknell

  • lmao i love when he fell

  • haha Bra video....
