He says there was a bomb on the ship, but the ship exploded cuz of the static electricity that it gathered in the foggy weather. when the wet ropes were dropped to the dround, the circut was complete, causing a spark, and then the explosion.

@potatoes4200 Depends on what your definition of stable is. Helium is the second most common reactant in stars (Hydrogen being the first). Outside of nuclear reactions it is very stable.

@UntitledKirk Hitler was Fuhrer of Germany in 1934. The Hindenburg disaster occurred in 1937, and the Swastika was a symbol of the Nazi party in 1920. I very much doubt that the symbol on a German Airship in Nazi Germany was anything but the symbol of the Nazi party.

Most of the deaths in the hindenburg were actually caused by people jumping out of it.

@fred55488 lol helium is not flammable at all. The Hindenburg had hydrogen in it, which is extremely reactive, but helium is a noble gas, which means it pretty much never reacts to anything.

A common party balloon is filled with helium, that's how harmless it is. If you inhale it, it just makes your voice have a higher frequency because it is thinner than air, but other than that it is harmless (unless you breathe so much that you can't get enough oxygen to survive).

If it was a bomb, the craft would have exploded outwards. On looking on all those reels of film, it doesn't indicate that. Fire took hold because there was maybe a malfunction at the tail end of the craft, causing hydrogen to leak.

The "Bomb" theory has been disproven. If he was 1 mile away and his eyebrows burned off, then the film in his camera would've melted with the heat!! Everyone would have burned to ashes if that had been true!! There were crew/ground-crew helping people inside the burning hulk of the Hindenburg. This guy's story has "hokey" written all over it!

This bloke ran a mile in 33 seconds so that one of the crew jumped and landed 25 ft away from him.
