Wow ! impressive. nice story, sets, characters, motions (the alien walk in particular). The only thing missing is sounds and music. Continue the good work !
Try using songs from bands such as ENYA, Boards of Canada or maybe Alison Goldfrapp. Their tunes would fit nicely into your film. I have a few friends who are into sound design as well so I'll let them contact you. Also... do you use Mac? I could ad some Sound effects and some eerie tunes that are free for aspiring filmmakers such as yourself. Contact me!
did this cost alot. i mean its the best i have seen so far. i am half way into an amature kids show using stop motion. now i feel i have to up my game.
This is amazing, I love the character style, and the background really draws you in. Shame about the lack of sound! I hope someone does this justice in audio.
I can't imagine working on a video project for so long without any sound (I wouldn't have the patience XD). Hope to see more!
Interesting. Would also be interesting to see what other types of creatures they'd run into. Big hostile creature, not so friendly like the lil green thing lol. I thought the lil green alien was gonna bite off his head at any moment lol.
So, I see several people have posted a desire to add sound. Did it ever happen since you posted this a year ago? Or should I ask a friend of mine who works in this and may perhaps be interested? If you are interested, please mail to my youtube inbox.Thanks.
Wow. People like you are my inspiration. My stop motions are short, choppy and, well, bad. But then again, I've had very little practice and I don't have good materials. But getting back to my point; your movie is incredible.
wow great! it looks kind of ametur, but if you do stop animation (like myself) you see the real talent it takes to make something this detailed. your character modles could do with a little more work but everything elese was mind blowing. great job!
Ummm shows your not very talented your self, this style is called 'stop-frame' or 'claymation' this guy has taken months 2 produce this and you think his an ametur!!! have a look at your pumpkin garden thing, thats ametur even rookie! hehe keep up the good work Alaric :D
I've been a cheapskate and haven't upgraded since version 4, so I can't say if 5 or 6 are better. 4 is clunky because I capture twice if I want higher res images. Besides that it did does what I needed to make this film.
Thanks! The characters are made of Van Aken plasticine. I used Sculpey Bake&Bend clay for the cores of their chests and hips to mount wires. Bake&Bend is also used for stuff like the helmet, shovel, and spaceship engine because it's tougher than regular Sculpey III. The trees and spaceship are all glazed and fired stoneware ceramic.
I used Stop-Motion Pro v4 to compare one frame to the last, but that couldn't capture anything higher than 720x480. The final high-res images were captured straight onto my Canon Powershot G6 with standard remote control software. Compositing is all done in After Effects.
This is the old, silent version of the film. Please watch the new version, as linked in the video description
Thanks one more time to everyone for all the positive comments!
