Factoid: You don't know squat. Jawbone played dozens of venues in detroit, chicago, toronto. He also played CBGB's twice before they closed. I know this as I was his rootmate in the 80's/90's.
Bob started playing in college & couldn't stand the 9-5 work concept after graduation. He painted houses while working on his first band project called "The Gear". Damn good band in my opinion. Bob didn't play in front of his supermarket (as far as I know), but in a downtown Detroit commercial district known as Trapper's Alley. Most of it is gone, replaced by the Greektown Casino, but in the 80's, it was a cool hangout for Suburban Detroit singles. Sorry if I was a jerk. peace
Don't worry, you wern't a jerk. I was just repeating was I thought I heard himsay on the John Peel Sessions a few years back. Cheers for the info, it's always cool to learn.
just heard a couple of weeks ago, he and his wife were robbed here in Ferndale, a suburb NW of detroit. my co-worker told me today that he was robbed yesterday in Warren (another detroit burb). It's the sign of the times.
It's great to see Bob get the accolades from the music lovers of the world. I knew him well in the late 80's in Detroit, and his writing talent was very impressive.
i saw this guy in manchester and he was such a talent.
in a world where we get nme hailing some new band as the greatist thing ever, we can go and see a one man band (how uncool does that sound)that makes everybody else look lazy gimps. stick that in your pipe and smoke it nme.
wicked!

Now that's what I call a 'one man band'!
Thanks for this Celtman.
Great 'Band' and great quality vid!
Saw him a while back at 12 Bar Club in London and this proves my memory of how good he is (wasn't just the alcohol ...)
Amazing guy. He looks so neat and nerdy, and then he gets on stage with his gaffer taped retro 'equipment' and just boogies for the devil.
