I don´t think they wanted to make a game about the book they just took the book as a base to make a whole diferent game with same charecters and similar thinks that happened in the book...I agree with sanctihakita nobody will play the game if everything was like the book..this guys just put some action and it worked for me...a really good game!

Holy fuck does no one understand that this game is not a word for word reenactment of the bloody poem. How fucking dumb can you be to get all analytical over the poem and a loosely based video game when the dude is waving a giant scythe and has a red Templar cross sowed onto his chest? It's bloody obvious it's not the poem so quit complaining about inaccuracies and accept the reality of artistic license.

@TheDynastQueen I think the game would have been cool if it was a first person shooter DAWG. No, they got the visuals right but this game is laughably bad. I just keep remembering that Dante is a poet. I am pretty sure Dante's original intent was to be a bulking and masculine hero who kills Satan since the writer of the book IS THE MAIN CHARACTER. It is so ridiculous it goes into parody territory, honestly. I laughed my ass off at this game. :P

hahaha the makers of this game did not read the divine comedy. he jumps into hell? no virgil guides him through hell sent there by beatrice, st lucia, and the virgin mary. Beatrice is the idea of divine light and is hardly mentioned in the inferno(although she was an actual she represents pure love) sure they needed to make a game out of it but call it THE INFERNO not DANTE'S INFERNO because this game is not dante's inferno its just the maker's interpretation, not nearly following Dante's

Comedy in those days didn't mean something funny; comedy is a drama with a happy ending and a tragedy is a drama with an unhappy ending, but the point is that those terms have changed. …. I think Shakespeare comedies may be the same thing: stories with happy endings and not necessarily the funny ones.

@upinarms79 its because in the poem its self all Dante does is walk around hell and look at all the circles while Virgil explains what is happening to him just like they made Beatrice a damsel in distress in the game so that Dante would have a reason to go threw hell instead of being a guide, it would only make sense to make it an action game, but they could have toned down the boobs in it

Correct me if I'm wrong... but isn't the Divine Comedy an allegory that deals with the political atmosphere of the time with Inferno itself illustrating the Christian ideologies of sin and salvation? I don't seem to recall Dante carrying around a giant scythe and destroying demons, either. Inferno would make a wonderful video game but I don't exactly see how what appears to be a God of War remake has anything to do with Inferno. Not everything has to be a ridiculous, over-the-top action game.

well i recently played this game its 80% god of war. And i found God of War way better. In this game your in same map from begining to the end..which make sense its hell supposed to be lava and monsters. But god of war is more fun compared to this game

the makers of this game are incorrect, dante doesnt do it for beatrice...beatrice is in heaven and sends vergil the poet to be his guide...from what i can tell, dante goes through hell to show what level of hell his political opposers are in. he writes this book because he is exiled from society by the other political group, i think they are called the black guelphs while dante is a part of the white guelphs

For what i know, according to the stuff i've read in school, Beatrice is already in heaven with god when Dante enters hell. And you never get to know why he had to go through hell.

Maybe it's just a synonym of a personal journey for hope and love in real life for Dante Alighieri.

I had way more fun and the graphics were a bit better in Dante's Inferno. I understand everyone complains that Dante's Inferno copied God of War 3 which i didnt at all, but if the guy bought a PS3 for Dante's Inferno then he did ok because that game is more enjoyable than God of War 3.
