  • I didnt even know this was lonline! I was at this show, such a good night. They were opening for Strapping Young Lad.

  • yeah, they didnt play it for a very long time after jesse left but now they usually play it as an encore. i personally think they shouldnt have done that but it is one of their most popular songs

  • @imrhyswatson they did it because Jessi said it was alright to.

  • not trying to cut down karl, but i think that the band shoulda went their own ways after jesse left. its jut not the same, and the fact that malice was so good that it would be hard for someone completley different to top. i mean its their lead singer and front man.

  • Awesome band. Awesome crowd. Damn, I wish I were around to see them during this line up, Karl is awesome but, Jesse will always be the best in my opinion, he made misery signals what it is. Of malice and the magnum heart is one of the greatest albums I've ever heard.

  • i saw them years ago with jesse, was amazing. seen them with karl as well. While still good. i started liking them with jesse. Even before this with 7a7p

  • They should redo Mirrors with Jesse. That'd make that album so much better.

  • is there a different vocalist now?

  • Imagine Jesse being your school teacher?!? that would be sick!

  • @Xilde

I wish I had someone that rad as a teacher.

  • Jesse didnt write mirrors. I talked to Karl. Him and ryan wrote it

  • @vinnypoop1

Jesse was involved in the only 2 good MS albums.

Misery Signals and Of Malice and Magnum Heart

  • saw them last night may 30th 09 in edmonton and jesse was there to play this song fucken awesome

  • I was there too! It was AMAZING!

  • Comment removed

  • why did jesse leave the band? somebody enlighten me please :)

  • he went to be lead singer in a softer band called "Sleeping Girl"

  • bassist

  • Jesse left the band to pursue a career as a high school teacher

  • for real?

  • so did matt bruso from bury your dead ! what's with that ? haha

  • he left to be the bassist of sleeping girl

  • i have class with jesse

  • Fucking lucky bastard..

  • love this song. but they shouldn't play it again.

    this song belongs to jesse

  • uhh they don't play it anymore....

  • They do now. They got permission from Jesse to play it. But Karl doesn't say Jordo's name when they play it he leaves out all the really personal lyrics.

  • I saw them last tuesday and they played this song. it was incredible and karl didn't sing the whole text. he left these lines out:

"I hope you know I tried to find those pictures Jordo

Of us that night in Detroit with The Pressure Point"

    and

"Man I swear I'd give the whole thing up for you"

so in my opinion he shows respect for this song and knows how personal it is.

  • simply incredible

  • and i jizzed in my pants

  • The first time I ever saw them was in Aug 2002 at the first Yesterday was Everything festival here in Edmonton, AB. THey performed as 7 Angels 7 Plagues with Jesse on vocals. The only person not on stage was Stu- guitarist. This was the first incarnation of Misery Signals. Fucking Amazing! The first time I saw them as Misery was in April 2003 at the Orange Hall. Just as amazing. That whole period from 2002 to 2003 was really good for the Edmonton hardcore scene. Wish it was still as good

  • yea i think that they are both amazing but have both went a little down hill like i still love them both... but i mean its not the same but still respect it i guess.... i member the first time i seen these guys live... amazing

  • Zaraska's a fucking legend!

  • agreed. jesse made misery signals so much better. he has such raw passion in his voice.

  • both Poison The Well AND Misery Signals are amazing

  • I saw Misery Signals When they played this ..

I only wish i knew Doc Brown coz i would hit 88 and go back to that night. BRUTAL!!!!

  • amazing

  • Branden Morgan is so epic on drums :) superpro.

  • that breakdown is pretty epic...i love this band, almost has or has the epicness of PTW

  • also i forgot to add...

what happened to the scene :[ it used to be so awesome.

  • Poison the well still rocks man.

  • It got popular and the record labels diluted the genre. Happens all the time.

  • PTW is that in reference to Poison the Well??? if so i agree my friend

  • Well these guys are actually good.

  • intense!!

why are you all so hostile? calm the fuck down, it's just a song.

  • look up the story morons, its in loving memory of jordan wodehouse I believe his name is, and other friends killed when a careless driver hit their band van on the interstate

  • Just because they didn't play the song when you saw them doesn't mean they haven't played it live in the past..fuckin retard..they RARELY play this..but there are videos on the internet on them doing so..if you dont believe me just go find it.

  • yeah, they didn't play it the time i saw them with the new singer.

i'm not sure if this is true or not, but the lyrics jesse had written for this song were very personal, about the death of two of his friends. i'm thinking either he kept the song upon leaving the band, or the guys aren't playing it out of respect for him and his deceased friends.

this song is the shit, and i can't see why they wouldn't play a crowd favorite otherwise.

  • yea if you check out the video for this song and read the lyrics, it was clearly written for someone that passed away...i know they barely play it anymore if at all now that jesse isn't in the band anymore

  • yeah they dont play it anymore, i asked karl at a show here in hollywood a couple months back and he said that jesse took the song with him when he left the band. gotta respect that as much as ide love to hear it

  • There's a video of them playing it with Karl on youtube. The quality is bad but it's definitely The Year Summer Ended in June. I guess they just play it very rarely.

  • They do play it actually. It's not that rare, really. People just don't really record it, I guess.

I saw them play it with Karl on the Mirrors tour in '07 with Shai and Means.

  • WTF i missed that one!!! omg.. id give anything to hear em play that song. BTW its actually quite rare that they do, my buddy saw them in edmonton AB in a half pipe with there original singer (jesse) and they played it.. said it was amazing..

  • Lol thanks tips

  • They still play this song at shows i don't see why people believe other wise..obviously karl adds a different tone to the song but in essence if you've listened to that song as many times as big MS fans do then it shouldnt even matter..

  • They say that because this was pretty much a memorial song for Jordan Wodehouse, Jesses close friend that died in a vehicle accident. So it would seem inappropriate to some for anyone else to sing it.

  • because never seen a video of them playing with karl? ... maybe, or posts of setlists of them playing it with karl etc etc

seen them 3 times with karl, no dice and given the background of the song i don't see them playing it with him, which i actually agree with

  • no they don't. they never play it live. i think they do once a year at the memorial festival.

  • They don't play this song live.

I saw them weeks after Karl joined the band, where they played a lot of other old songs, a new one they wrote, and not this.

Just saw them a few weeks ago with Darkest Hour; didn't play it.

  • omg:...(

so beautiful...i am so jealous of the ppl that experienced this song live.

  • Jesse Zaraska PWNS!

  • I know man! What happened to him anyway!?

  • Jesse left to join an indie band his brother was in, called Sleeping Girl.

  • there fucking good though

  • SOOO much more energy then versus now

  • You sir are and idiot.

  • misery signals is such an awesome band, and with such great stage presssence

  • skeeter42069, i couldnt agree more with you.

  • misery signals is the best band ever, period

  • i feel like the lyrical content on mirrors is from a completely different frame of mind than what was written for malice. malice is FAR more personal than mirrors could ever hope to be, in my opinion.

    LOVE THIS BAND. all hail.

  • Thats because Mirrors has a totally different vocalist, thus different type of writing style.

  • Jesse Zaraska wrote Mirrors, Karl just sings it, Fool.

  • Haha I love how your thumbed down 3 times for saying Jesse wrote the lyrics on Mirrors, even though you're right :P

  • its nothing to do with rights over sings, the year summer ended in june was about their friends that died in a car crash, and seeing as karl never knew them and had no relation to them, it wouldn't be his place to sing the song. it wouldnt be as personal n shit.

  • So? Let Karl sing the song. I would be happy if they play the song when I see them live. Who cares that Karl didn't know the 2 friends who dies in that caraccident:)

  • i hate to break it to you, but i ASKED karl the last time i saw them play (back in October w/ Emmure) and he simply said "We can't." they can't play this or On Account of an Absence. whether its a matter of rights over the lyrics or not, idk.

in my opinion, malice was jesse's album, and mirrors is karl's, regardless of who wrote what. my only worry is that these glorious days we're witnessing here won't be drowned out with the release of new material. thank god for the internet.

  • Jesse wrote this song about losing a member from his old band, Compromise, in a car accident. I'm sure it was just a mutual agreement not to play it when Jesse left the band and probably nothing to do with legalities. Since Jesse's lyrics were all very personal and heartfelt, I would also assume it would be the same reason why they can't play On Account of an Absence.

Anyways, glad the majority of you enjoy this video. It's one of my faves as well.

  • he lost jordan and danny, that equals 2 brah.

  • Yes, its out of respect not legalities.

  • thank God for the internet, yes, MS lived off internet lisetneners. they may've not even found karl if it wasnt for the internet. let alone get as big as they are.

  • @thenoisestops They play this song live now all the time with Karl, your an idiot btw.

  • I was lucky enough to see them before Jesse left and this was one of the songs they played. Unfortunatley I went to see them again and they dropped off the tour the night of the show becuase they were having problems within the group. It's to bad becuase this is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard, and it would have been amazing to hear it again.

  • he does have the right to sing it if its in a respectable and well done way like he does now. it keeps the passion in the song and the memory of their friends alive

  • they played part now!=p

dang this video is in the opera house i cant believe i wasnt there

  • this band is the best band ever

  • Karl should never be allowed to sing this song

  • Get bent, purist

  • I Agree, he doesn't have the right...

  • its almost like your giving karl shit when he hasn't sang the song yet... like what the hell are we even talking about? and why the hell are we talking about it?

  • you are stupid kid you know? you know that Jesse

zaraska wrote all of mirrors, Karl hasn't written any released material.

  • Back up this statement with proof please...

  • i thought he only wrote the last song mirrors???

  • Jesse or Karl? Jesse Zaraska wrote mirrors. the album, in its entirety, 100%. Karl does permanent vocals now, and this upcoming album will be the of tehe first he writes so far

  • hahaha get your head out of your ass.

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i wish they would play this song ... but yet i understand why.... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh so frustrated

  • Why dont they play it live? i really wanted to hear this song when i saw them

  • They have a new lead singer now... The guy in this video is no longer the singer, He wrote this song for 2 of his friends that died in a car accident, So the new singer basically has no right to sing it...

  • what? If this is Karl (the new singer) in the video than you are correct. He didn't write this song. But the old singer off of 'Of Malice and the Magnum Heart' was named Jesse. Two of Jesse's friends died in a car accident.

  • Zaraska wrote mirrors, not Karl, who gives a shit, there is no moral right to a song, i dont give a fuck who wrote it, a song is a song, and you can sing it however and to whoever the fuck you want to. they don't do this song because they do barely any of OMATMH, and i'll bet karl will respect that jesse wrote that song, but still, if misery signals wanted to play taht song im sure they wouoldn't hesitate, though jesse zaraska wrote it, it belongs to Misery signals

  • right on dude! it's just a song. people who talk about moral rights to play a song..?? come on people! it's just a song! get your heads outta your asses!!

  • amazing band=)

  • the last guy had it right, greatest band. new album, eh.

  • Greatest band ever fucking made..they inspire me

  • Glad to see they are running strong, this was my first tune i ve heard from them at 3 or more years..\m/

  • I would do anything to see this song live with Jesse.

    Fuck!

  • same man , i respect why they dont play it anymore , i mean i wouldnt want them to

man this song is soo good, everytime i listen to it it makes me feel so alive and willing to live and thankful of everything

    x

I love this vid, all the fans there are truly dedicated to scream the song word for word.
