  • NOT happy with the Coen brothers version and I am a die hard Coen bros fan! Perhaps growing up watching this version has made me partial.

  • This is exactly how it is in the book. Except for LaBeouf jumping out from the rocks...that wasn't in the book...But her reaction is the same from the book. In the Coen version she didn't cry out like that...I don't really remember...:\

  • @ilovesushii94 Her crying out makes the spanking more realistic !

  • @spanker30 Agreed! I just rewatched the scene from the Coen version, and she doesn't cry out.

  • love how he full ninjas it out of the bushes

  • What morons to say, "jeff bridges mumbles too much." Yeah, I'm sure the real "Rooster" would have spoken just like John Wayne did..

  • @mauijim00 I love both performances. And to be honest, the mumbling worked for the new movie. Rooster was drunk off his ass most of the time. Did it alot in the book too.

  • Fuck the Coen Brothers, they did good, but you cant make a True Grit film without the Duke in it, it just aint the same.

  • I remember this scene from the remake. It happened immediately after Mattie crossed the river, and LaBoeuf spanked her first before whipping her. Also, Rooster paused to think about it before saying "No I don't think I will".

  • Coen Brothers did it better.

  • @tinosnit what the spanking? Is it in there? Havn't seen the new one yet

  • @Nicky131Popstar It is

  • @KingLazerman Oh ok thanks

  • You do and it'll be the biggest mistake YOU ever made you Texas Brush Popper!

  • the original movie had heart......."remake" was pure sludge.......complete waste of money

  • @darkangel160 I think the John Wayne spanking was the better although not as good as the spankings I give !

  • They did do this in the remake, and Matt Damon gave that girl a good spankin' X)

  • wtf

  • so are they gonna have a scene like this in the remake?

  • @jediking69 Yes. Matt Damon was interviewed in People Magazine about the spanking he gives to his 13 year old co-star. He said they practiced a lot, and it didn't hurt her because she put a big pad in her pants.

  • @jediking69

Yep! I saw the new version yesterday at a local theater. The spanking scene in the new one is a bit different than the original. In 1969, Glen put Kim on her stomach in the dirt right away & switched her behind. In the new one, Matt kneels down on one knee & puts Hallie over his upturned knee. He then gives her four hard swats on the seat of her trousers. And THEN puts her on the dirt on her stomach, grabs a piece of sagebrush & switches the BACK of her legs with it !

  • @jediking69 yup they did the same thing lmao

  • john wayne beleive all woman should be spank age dont matter

  • John Wayne is a big SPOIL SPORT!

  • fill your handd you sunovabitchhh!!

  • I will be interested to see if this scene is in the remake....It is now considered abuse.....even thought it didn't hurt us any growing up.

  • @califgirl11 And it would probably do you some good now, as an adult too; when you've been naughty!! lol

  • @califgirl11

Yep, the remake has the scene! Though it doesn't last as long in the new version. Though in the new version, the sassy teen gets both a hand spanking AND a switching.

  • Thank god they picked Jeff Bridges for the remake, he's a good actor too. Joel and Ethan Coen better do a good job on this movie!

  • @bobb328

Saw it yesterday. I think the Coen brothers did an OUTSTANDING job. It's more faithful to the book, by the way.

  • @JubalCalif Yes, I've seen both versions of the movie. My only quarrel with the Coen Brothers movie is that

Jeff Bridges basically plays the same drunken, mumbling ne'er-do-well he played in Crazy Heart.

Jeff Bridges' character doesn't exhibit "true grit"....John Wayne's character does. But the Coen Brother's

movie (as usual) is beautifully photographed and captures the western atmosphere perfectly. The Coen Brothers are master film-makers,

  • @BRUC2016

Very well said! I haven't seen "Crazy Heart" yet, but I think the Duke had more on screen charisma & "heart" as Rooster in the original "True Grit". As you mentioned, much of Jeff's mumbling in the new version is uniintelligible! THANKS for an articulate, thoughtful & insightful comment! May ALL your wishes & dreams come true in the New Year!!! :-)

  • @JubalCalif Go see "Crazy Heart". You'll be amazed at how well Jeff Bridges plays the down-and-out,

drunken has-been who redeems himself at movie's end. Now that Bridges has demonstrated and perfected that persona in two straight movies, it would be nice if he'd move on to doing something else. Thanks for the well wishes. Same to you!

  • @BRUC2016

THANKS for the "heads up" in regards to "Crazy Heart"! Have a super groovy day, mate!

  • Jeez. You really don't like John Wayne!

  • @SargentMugen The hell I do!

  • John Wayne was a real actor. He's an American legend now.

  • @SargentMugen He was overated but thats not to say he was very good. he was, just not great.

  • Sure he did.

  • This movie like all the others he made belonged to the DUKE

  • Kim Darby so carried this epic motion picture, perfectly cast, with her, this film would not have been so successful. its like that

    thanks for adding this clip

  • No way. John Wayne was the true carrier. Did Kim Darby win an Oscar for best Actress? I think not. Did John Wayne win Best Actor? As a matter of fact, YES!

  • I think thats kind of proof that the Oscars are total Bullshit.

  • Absolutely. The most obvious career award.

  • Oh wow
