Wow, I generally listen to classical music but I am always open to new music, and let's just say I am extremely happy to have found this wonderful song!
How the fuck can you dislike this track? I don't get it, honestly I don't, and I've been listening to Autechre since Tri Repetae. The whole album took a while for me to sit on and ponder it, but I listen to it quite regularly now.
lovely lullaby until 1'09 then the boys from Rochdale turn on the aural thumbscrews relaxing and unnerving at the same time - amazing to think that 20+ years on and these guys can still come up with the goods to make me sit up and take notice - great album Oversteps - dont try and dance or relax to it!
i know this track in particular wasn't well received on the forums when the album first came about but after a year of listening to the album on and off i have to say that this track in particular rises above the rest in terms of originality. it totally messes with my head and is unlike anything else i've ever heard before. i dislike it but love it at the same time. it's a really strange one even by autechre's standards.
the soundtrack to some not-too-long-off android-love film in which some piece of circuitry is dying, electrical wiring failing, electricity sputtering about, random movement, lamented: a Replicant funeral dirge.
This is by far one of the most inspirational tracks ever! A few days ago I had it running through my head all day, and man I just felt so complete in a way. I didn't know that Autechre were also some of the best therapists around. This track is pure genius, no wait I meant DEVINE!!!!
That ' s a verry innovative track. First earing is the best, especially when this weird sound appear. I highly suspect they used a PLL for this (??). Anyway Autechre is back and this time it 's for good.
@new01 the sound you ear at 1:10 sounds to me like "volatile" PLL for the little i know are tracking sound sequence but the result is not totally accurate, wich after some more treatment may give this kind of strange melodies.
thanks for the tip, I never hered of Seven Ark but I had a few second listen to a random track of them and i get what your saying. worth getting into.
I realy use youtube these days just to get to know new bands/musical projects. the kind of stuff that i love is not the most popular. jumping from youtube clip to youtube clip these are a few bands that i got to know and have good stuff: subheim - Howl
and Dub pistols -speed of light. Both different then this and from each other. but dreamy the way i like it.
@TheSchimmi thanks for the tip, I never hered of Seven Ark but I had a few second listen to a random track of them and i get what your saying. worth getting into.
This is breathtaking. For me the aesthetic is reminiscent of Vi Scose Poise and Drane 2. It is incredibly moving. I can imagine that most incredible Comme Des Garcons runway show happening to this music.
If you can get the Autechre Breezeblock set its great. Wendy Carlos, Tod Dockstader, A Clockwork Orange OST, Beefheart, its like the national anthem of space.
the way you get mesmerized by the interweaving of melodies and the nonexistence of concrete (explicit) rhythm, leaving all that to the melodies and their progression...
agree completely... they came back to music full of emotions after fear/exepriements period (confield thru draft) - imo this album is closest to lp5 masterpiece and may be "overstepping" it
@josepequito12 ..hmm, this is a very evident 4/4 beat.. Sure, the guys sometimes use some other time signatures, but this is a plain simple and very square track (rythmycally talking).
@ptrLeGrand Haha, thank you. I'm glad someone else recognizes that just because there isn't a bass and snare drum present doesn't mean there isn't a rhythm at work.
so pleased with what ive heard so far from Oversteps. The last two albums (especialy Quaristice) were dissapointing for me and this is a welcome return to form. Can't wait to hear the full album.
@CammieSpectrum You were proud of that well refined comment weren't you..you thought thats a uniquely absurd and strangely evocative enough a description to be top rated...but no, not even one thumbs up. You were shocked and brooded over how no one acknowledged the "awesomeness" of that comment, you would check back time and time again...but no. Well there you go thumbs up, I acknowledge the awesomeness...lol
@kenrben I though up that power ballad/dolphin description. because that is what it sounded like that to me. Doesn't it sorta sound like that? I also thought it was a good description for sending this Autechre song to girls that i know to get them to listen to it...since it's one of the most girl friendlly Autechre songs ever and I like girls. :) but no girls like Autechre :( sorry, my true motives exposed.
Urgent and cautious.
