There is no doubt China is a major power in the east and beginning to have a footprint around the world. But China's economy is based on exports to the west, particularly the US and this will not sustain China in my opinion. Also, China's one child policy will come back to bite them when their society ages with no social safety nets like the west such as social security, medicare, etc. I don't think China will overtake the US in the foreseable future but it is a major power.
