  • Yeah CS:S isn't a very demanding game.

  • i have pentium 4 3.0ghz

    with 1 gb of ram

    and geforce 9400 GT

and mine runs at 120 fps not too far behind you..

  • 1gb ram and a 9400 omg

  • @mcelusive

    i7 3.9GHz

    8GB ram

    ATI 4890 1GB

    99999 FPS

  • @lylix123 Jesus, wtf are you running? A major company? Overstacked

  • I forgot, I run the test at 1920x1080 with all in HIGH, AAx8 ASx16 =)

  • Sorry, i wanted to say Q8200, not E8200 xD!!

  • I get 300 fps max with:

    E8200 2.33@2.60 Ghz

    Gigabyte P43

    4GB (2x2) kingston @890Mhz

    HIS 4670 1GB DDR3 GPU@800 MemoryC@930 (max overclock)

  • are you any good at css if so let me know =]

  • intel e8400 , 4 gb ram and nvidia 9800 gt my friend get with this about 500 fps all max

  • nice. i have the same specs but with a E8500.

  • i get like 300fps

    XD

  • I get 192 fps with an ancient 939 amd x2

  • my buddy has a 9800GT, 750i FTW mobo by EVGA, q8400 at 3.2 GHz, vista 32, 4 gb ram, and he gets about 400 on this test...... no joke ?

could yours be defective or something?

  • i mean 200 fps

  • its prob because of resolution. it makes a huge dif

  • ummmm how will this do and im not doing this to show off my specs cuz i dont have this pc ima get some parts and build it kk........2gb ram i think corsair........600 watt power just cuz i might get sli later on.....9800gtx and e8500

  • I've got he same system that you have except that you have a Quad and I have a dual, but the rest is the same. However my FPS on that test is avrage 299 FPS!?

  • fps_max 1000. It's usually locked at 300 but you can change it.

  • his hard drive sucks, you can tell by the long load times. and css only uses 2 cores anyway.

  • ive used geforce cards since like 99' but i finally realized for the money u gotta pay for it, its just not worth it at all, u can get about 300 fps average for an ATI Radeon HD4870 with just the 512 mb version of it and it costs about 100 bucks less for a geforce competitor. the card im getting soon has 2GB of memory built in and runs at 800 mhz stock with 2 gpus in 1 card and ill get about 700 fps average. you can also intall up to 4 of them! =)

  • Yeah, currently, ATI's 4000 series is the best value you can get right now. I like Nvidia and ATI. I used to own a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MB back in 2003. That was a killer card for its time. I still have it. It's being relegated for my old work/email/web surfing computer.

  • haha i remember when i had the radedon 9800 pro .. when the fans on it stopped worked in 2006 :D

  • 251... actually. I have one hehehe.

  • 335 fps at 1280x1024 costed me 5500 danish money which is about 1100$

  • me gots 300 FPS

  • is it true that 32-bit operating systems can only handle like 3/4 gb of ram? so like u actually get 3.15 or something instead of all 4?

  • Yes, a 32-bit OS can only read about 3.2 GB of system memory.

  • foosag dont worry ur fps rate is fine my framerate is around 150+ 2.2ghz amd quad with a 9800GTX trust me ur frame rate is fine people are just saying that they get 200+ and theres no reason to have 75+ fps because the human eye cant even see past that

  • yeah that's completely true. Of course, everyone would like to win frame rate drag races. :)

  • Sorry your wrong the human eye cant read past 30fps? so anything higher you wont really notice a difference <3

  • but when you have to aim, 30 fps becomes very slow D:

  • when im on games and im playing on like 30 fps it doesnt look nearly as good as 40 or 60 lol ?

  • I just tested it again and 1280x1024 all max i get 376fps averge. when 1920x1080p i get 336fps average!! haha somethings wrong with your system

  • 16X AA?

    16X AF?

Your CPU is also overclocked to 3.3 Ghz. Mine is at its stock 2.5 Ghz.

  • what? i get so much more fps then u do. I have an E6600@3.3ghz and a 8800gts 512mb. i get around 200 to 300 fps. I play at 1280 by 1024 but still thats a huge difference

  • Resolution DOES play a huge factor in frame rate. 1920 x 1200 crunches A LOT more pixels on the screen as opposed to your 1280 x 1024.

  • maby becuse your processor is on 3,3ghz and counter strike source dont support 4 cores

  • you should get much higher with your setup..

overclock your cpu to 3ghz, you should get much more fps.

    i get 250-280 fps with e6750 @ 3.2, 8800gtx everything max.

    ingame i get 150-200 fps.

  • Yeah, my 2.5 Ghz quad core should be well OC'ed over 3 Ghz. The Q9300 overclocks well I hear. Problem is, I still have my stock cooler. It works well when the CPU is at stock speeds. Once I start overclocking, I'll need a beefier CPU cooler.

  • yout fps is low i get 140~fps with 7600Gt

  • Are you running CSS at a high resolution of 1920x1200?

Are you running everything at maximum?

Are you running it with 16x Anti-Aliasing AND 16x Anisotropic Filtering?

Do you also allow HDR lighting?

I doubt that you run it at 1920x1200 and 16x AA and AF. Those settings REALLY affect the frame rate, so my FPS is about right.

  • well yuo run at 800x640 with low

  • I messed up before. I meant to say I have 2 9800 GTX in sli. siiick nasty ;) I will put a video up for the CSS stress test and see how I compare to you.

  • Oh nice! Happy benchmarking!

  • whats your monitor??

  • Samsung 24" 245BW

  • Yewr I can only run at 4X Anti alianasing

  • This week I am building almost the EXACT same computer you are running! same OS and everything haha. But I am going to run 2 9600GT in sli. about the only difference besides im core 2 duo 2.53 MHz. GO US!?? nice rig

  • haha nice! You're PC will be awesome!

  • Yer well I think 130fps is a bit crappy for a pc that has twice the power as mine (on paper in terms of specs)...

  • No, that's about right. I'm running it at max at a resolution of 1920 x 1200 with 16x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering. Your geforce 6600's don't support 16x AA and 16x AF so that's why you get a high frame rate. AA and AF really kills your frame rate.

  • Yer sorry man, Couldnt quite make out what you said did you say EVGA 8600GT?

  • EVGA 9800 GTX

  • I get 125fps on benchmark with Css at Full settings on my Sli'd PC6600GTV's...

    Resolution is at 1680x1050...

Max fps was 290 and minimum was like 70 im sure...

Not bad for a pair of $60 cards...

I have seen my cards beat 7950gts...

So i figure what the hey, these old girls still go fine.

Oh BTW what video cards was he using in this clip?

  • "Oh BTW what video cards was he using in this clip? "

...didn't you even watch the video??

  • THATS cool ;)!

What resolution is the best if you have a 22 inch screen?.. i got a samsung sm2232bw so what resolution is the best in css for me?

my moniter can go up to 1650x1050

  • The native resolution of your monitor is 1680x1050. It's best to run css at your monitor's native resolution.

  • hmmm okay, but i also have set the resolution in window to 1650x1050, so what resolution shall i have in css?.. you know there is 4:3, 16:9 and 16:10?

  • 1680x1050 is a 16:10 resolution.

  • hey can counter-strike source really be ran at 1920x1200?? i need to know because i was gona buy s full hd monitor and i wanted to know if it could be played on my monitors native resolution. please let me know

  • yes.. it can be ran at 1920x1200.. as long as your monitor supports 1920x1200

  • A 8600GT on a laptop? I thought you can only put a 8600MGT on a laptop. 8600GT without the M is made for desktops

  • hey dude, i run css maxed settings with 180fps... BUTTT. in my video settings 4xAA is the only thing that shows!! how can i get it to go to 8x /16x?!!? can anyone please tell me

  • depends if your video card supports it. My old geforce 7300 LE did not support 16x AA, only up to 4x.

  • wierd.. in my controll panel i can set it to 16xAA. So i guess its all the same in the end

  • I get about 200 FPS on my laptop (8600GT 256MB)

  • nice

  • lol? I got with a 8800GT more than 360fps? oO

  • what resolution you running at? what kind of CPU do you have?

  • ahm.. an E4400 @ 2,4 Ghz

    8800GT 660/990

    3Gb @ 800Mhz Ram

... I have got a new video about my test!

But the Quali is VERY bad :S

  • 360 is my Record, but this video shows only 308fps!

  • How about your screen resolution? I could also get 300+ fps if I also run it at a lower resolution.

  • i have got 1024x768 ...

okey xDD u have got a bigger resolution then me :D Thats why i thought i have got more fps then you :P Sry ... i have to learn to read the "more info" text :P

  • Yeah lol resolution affects the frame rate a lot. Your PC specs are nice!

  • Thanks.. but yours are much better then mine :S

  • 130 not bad.. when the CS:S engine only reads 1 core.. , 2.4ghz isn't that high hehe

  • The HIGHEST voltages to apply to your ram that are on the safer side is 0.1 to 0.4volts. I tired it and it wasn't stable. So I added 0.5v. The ram hasnt fried yet lol. Its been couple weeks now and its stable so i dont think it will.

  • um. Just saying somthing kinda wierd about this kus i did the same settings as you and got 145. somthing in the css stress test. I have almost the exact same specs as u to. E8400 @ 3.82ghz 2gb Corsair ddr2 800 @ 1066 3-3-3-12 9800GTX 800/2000/2400. and yes i did use 1920x1200 and 16x aa and 16x af. U should be getting higher then me i thought. You have a quad core i have dual.

  • and u think CS:S will use the quad core??? aim for the GHz not the cores fot now and how the fuck did u get the corsair at 1066 aith 3-3-3-12????what voltage? i got 319fps everything same but at 1680x1050

  • ok =/ i got the 64-bit =D

  • i am getting my new computer soon... nearly like yours... im gonna get an q9450 and 4 gigs of ram instead...

  • Nice! Be sure to get Vista 64-bit instead of 32-bit. 64-bit is more stable. I'm going to get 64-bit soon because 32-bit has been giving me A LOT of trouble.

  • how easy is it to upgrade to 64bit?

    thanks

  • You would have to wipe your hard drive clean since it is considered a separate operating system. You can't install 64-bit over the existing 32-bit OS.

  • right....

do you think its worth it?

  • It depends on your computer usage. If you are a power user, it's probably worth it.

  • Nice, looks cool. Almost looks like it's using a new graphics engine! :)

I wonder what i will get when i build my new rig: ATI Radion HD 4870 (512 mb ram), Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3,1 GHZ(I will clock it up to 4 GHZ) And 2-4 gb ram! :D

  • If you run it at the EXACT settings as I did, you'd probably get ~200 fps. Happy benchmarking!

  • Great, i can't wait to see how high i can turn the settings up in Crysis with out getting lag! :D

  • You should have alot more fps then that man sence you have a 9800 you should atleast have 200 fps in that game.

  • yeah but its probably the 16x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering that bogs down the frame rate

  • That's weird i have the same fps you do on my old XFX 8500?

  • are you running at a high resolution of 1920 x 1200 with 16x anti-aliasing and 16x anisotropic filtering on??

  • does the 750i FTW offer sli pcie 2.0 at 16x as opposed to the other 750i's that offer 1st pcie 2.0 16x and the other at 8x?

  • both PCIe 2.0 slots are 16x speeds. But..BUT, when running in SLI mode, both slots run at 8x speeds.

  • Damn I thougt because 750i FTW is higher spec than the other 750i's it will offer full speed sli.

    Thanks anyway

  • why are they both called 16 speed if 1 is instantly (as you add a new graphics card) 8speed? :s (just wondering?)

  • honestly, I don't know

  • nice man, i did that test recently with my system and i got an average of 215 fps. :D

    my set up

    -AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+

    -Asus M2N32-SLI Deluxe Wireless Ed.

    -4gb DDR2 800 OCZ ram

    -MSI OC 8800gt

    -Western Digital Caviar 750gb HDD

    -Windows XP Pro

Everything set to the max at 1440x900 with AA 16x and AF 16x

  • nice.
