i think it dose have a mic, because for some reason, when i recorded a youtube video with the recorder found in the start menu, it was able to pick it up, but would not pic my voice up

These are going to be huge! If I had known that Dell was going to have one when I bought my baby-book from a no name company, I would have waited. Do you realize these will cost less than $300?

It is a full size machine as far as capabilities and it can perform. I love mine, I just wish it was a Dell.

I was watching another review and some guy said you cant run word, other commentor complained about the video, but Im curious can you run word efficiently, and can you blog, how about firefox, the guy said firefox doesn't work well. Any thoughts. Oh and if it is true that you can't run word do you think it would be ok for Open Office. Im in college and I am really torn between an Acer and the Dell. Due to student discount Im leaning towards the Dell.

I use OpenOffice on it almost everyday it runs fine. No hiccups or anything, also Firefox works well too.

good review, really. i have some questions, i would appriciate the answers:

1.how loud is the keyboard when you are typing stuff (asking because i don't want that the whole classroom will hear me typing:)?

2.can you load normal winxp on this thing or do you need moded versions?

3.how fast can you change tabs in firefox with normal background programs (open office, antivirus program, utorrent)?

4.can you watch high definition video clips with no laggs?

They keyboard is about the same as any other laptop keyboard maybe a bit bit quieter. I'd imagine you can load a basic XP but you need a portable CD drive to do so. Changing tabs is no biggie, utorrent works fine. I only use windows defender though.

As for watching HD clips absolutely Not.

Through the control panel, Sound And Audio, Voice Tab, then Test Hardware. Message me if you're still having problems.

I would say yes, that is what I use it for. If you have gigantic hands though the keyboard might take a little bit more time to adapt to.

No, you can attach a USB external drive though if space is a concern. Or you can put in an SD card for more storage, or another option is to buy another SSD and put it in here, but honestly storage should not be a problem here, I would not recommend this as your main computer.

shame they bloat it down with background processes you have to shut off. ... any new problems? are you liking it more, the longer you have it?

No nothing worthwhile is installed I think Mcafee might of been but only a trial so I uninstalled it. The screen is pretty glossy and can get annoying in bright light conditions. It has no CD Drive, surprisingly I have not missed it though, and I have started to like it more and more since I use it everywhere. I am looking forward to purchasing a USB GPS antenna and having it replace my GPS tracker, since it is always with me.

hey... by windows xp does that mean it has word? im not very tech-y so i really dont know much... also how bad does the top smudge?

No it does not come with Microsoft Word, you could install it though. I recommend trying Open Office first though, its Free and efficient. Also yes it smudges like crazy, every finger print shows. If this was found at a crime scene they could find the killer in a blink of an eye.

No it would not, only while you're using it. You could always use wordpad, which most windows comes with.

It does have a microphone built in and it is pretty decent. The problem is I had to run some sort microphone configuration from control panel so the security center would enable it. If you're having problems with yours message me I will help you enable it.

The battery time is amazing. When I am on battery I usually dim the screen down all the way. Just surfing the web and talking on IM you could easily get 2 and a half to 3 hrs of battery time.

Have you installed any games like quake 3 GTA3 or unreal? No one seems to have done any game vids for this system like they have for the Asus EEE.

Really? Or are you joking at best this thing would be able to run Warcraft III on minimal settings which I might try later. Those are old games but I don't think it could run any of those. Looking to try and upgrade the RAM to 2GBs though.

It could deffinetly GTA3 or San Andreas it reaches the minimum requirments. You can also play counter strike, Battlefront 2, Kotor 1 and 2 and WOW.
