According to the HKFA info, it sounds like a three-hanky tearjerker.
Very interesting to watch all these actors work together and deliver some compelling performance.
Would that make a May-to-September romance as 王引 mentions "had he been a few years younger than 王萊, he would have loved to be forever with her (read: would've married her--a rather subtle way to pop the question, non?)?
BTW, 王萊 looks very young and pretty here ( tall, slim and all). I think she still looks great even today. :D
Me too! I like the way people used to talk back then. They sounded so beautiful and yet so unpretentious!
IMHO, this clip is a classic example showing "OLD SCHOOL" doesn't necessarily mean "UNCOOL" although most youth of today may opine differently.
As for their accent(s), I personally have no problem with that. The two distinguished thespians speak clearly (as opposed to nowadays young actors mumbling their speeches most of the time) and give a stellar performance to boot. :D
優雅的生活,美好的年代,社會雖不富裕,但人與人相處,仍保留禮貌,今天只有紛鬧。

在5060年代的窮人家,電影幾乎是唯一途徑去窺見富裕階層的生活要貌

Some women still look beautiful over 80 years old, and she is one of those.

I've just noticed this is a collaboration of the "Triple Wongs" (王引 王萊 王天林) along with Lucilla You Min (尤敏) and Kelly Lei
Zhen (雷震). The film won an Outstanding Screenplay award during the 1963 Golden Horse Film Festival.

Nice to have your comments.
Wong Tin-lam's old Mandarin movies impress me more than his TV dramas :)

And I like their accent, young people may find it "old style" though.
