  • Is the sticker real?

  • its no robotic ray, its a regular ray with a "Festo" stickers on it

  • What's it for?

  • love how it looked like a real ray, then the logo came into shot :D

  • @emikochan13 its a real ray the "logo" feato is a sticker sticked onto it

  • wow, for a minute I thought that was a real ray...

  • I'd release one into a public pool and record the reaction.

  • I was all "Yeah OK that's very nice, but when are they going to show us the robot?". Then I saw the logo.

  • why do most people think on uses like destroying and killing stuff..???

  • what is so special of a ray?

i dont see that this one is very special or some thing like that??

  • @gifrank97

maybe that its a robot with AI?

  • WOW it looks so real

  • wOW THIS IS SO REALISTIC! DID YALL SEE THE AIR RAY? iT'S COOL TOO!

  • is this an animal or a robot?

  • i wanna buy one, WERE!?!

  • I imagine much more refined versions of these rays, penguins, & other similar Festo products are already in use in military and security operations. You could insert a depth charge or bomb in one of these things and program it to "swim" next to a ship or submarine and explode. Or insert miniature cameras and use for underwater spying. If this sort of "demo" technology is on YouTube for the public to see you can be sure the real technology is 10-20 years ahead of this and already in use...

  • @chocbear4u2 finally some one that understands out millitay/special forces/govenment

  • @chocbear4u2 But, wouldn't the 'Festo' logo on the wing be a dead giveaway?

  • @chocbear4u2 Will you idiots shut the fuck up about military for a second, the world is not about war...

  • this model doesn't seem to be able to control its direction. Needs more degrees of articulation in the wings.

  • where can I get this! its awesome!!! I am willing to pay 500dlls!!

  • the great thing is that if you combine this with the new foto-voltaic skin (not exactly sure on the name) some other people are working on you can really get some great results...

  • Impressive

  • the reason it's not moving as smoothly/fast as a real ray might be because the "wings" can't undulate. they move as one piece. I think the next step will be to put multiple skeletal beams in the wings to undulate the wing instead of just flap it. Still impressive though.

  • Cool... see also on youtube: NEWEST ROBOT THAT WALK ON WATER

  • Hm, i expected a water laser, this one took me time to realise what it actually is and that the ray is not real...

  • programming that would have been fuuuucked...

  • i want one whit me in dive esploration !!

  • I WANT ONE

  • are those real?

  • looks like a good way to smuggle drugs. tell it where you want it to go, then toss it in the water. it needs some solar power though.

  • And drug cartels have the money to develop it as well.

  • possible negative side effect: shark on drugs..not sure if i want to see that.still a good idea though

  • It could have generators that are powered by the ocean's current. Solar panels may not work very well when you're a few feet under water.

  • We have yet to make a realistic android....my ass

  • I just had the best idea EVER for how to use this thing.

What if you set up sender and reciever systems from these Aqua_rays and some water-proof earpieces and headed undersea tours and used these gives to get constant, low impact information about all sorts of environment.

    Now that would be awesome!!!

(And not that lame "hot dog" awesome either).

  • after watching this and a few others irobot doesnt seem so far fetched lol

  • We're going to have to keep an eye on this company. They look like the proto-Cyberdyne.

  • Talking of Cyberdine there was actually an amputee on the news a few days ago with an arm that looked similar to the terminators. It was scary to think as a child of the 80's would see such a thing in real life.

  • give it nuclear weapons lol

  • hahahaha..

  • I can't wait till they test it out in open water only to have a shark chomp it in half xD

  • why destroy something that is so amazing!

  • Because thats what we do.

  • If you could design a power-generating system for it that was self-sufficient in some sense, say, solar, you could make something that could, say, map the oceans, track species of fish, all as the least obtrusive object in the environment as possible. Heck, someone swimming wouldn't be able to tell at a distance between these bionic robots and the real thing. You would think the environmentalist crowd would be all over this technology.

  • wow... it looks so real

  • I wonder what would happen if you mixed one of these in with a school of rays and tried to see if a person could tell the difference....

  • or even better, if the other rays could :P

  • They've used puppet animals in the presence of other animals before, and some can, some can't tell the difference. When they raise certain species of birds in captivity, for instance, they feed them with glove-puppets that look like a grown up bird, so they don't get confused as to what they are and who their mother is.

  • @KoyotoShadow Once you remove the Festo logo, of course.

  • @layn333productions True. Though they had a story today of a lady sunbathing on a boat when a 300 lb ray leaped out of the water and on top of her.

  • @KoyotoShadow wonder if the rays would notice? This is some amazing tech!

  • @TheCitizenx74 I kind of doubt they'd be able to notice either. They'd probably just think it another unusual ray that's with them.

  • @KoyotoShadow Yep the one labeled festo is not real

  • @Nicro327 Funny, but you get what I mean. :P

  • @Nicro327 At least I think you do. :O

Or maybe I should start labeling all rays with names? :3

  • @KoyotoShadow Lol >.> no, I thought it was a funny joke.

  • @Nicro327 And here I was pulling out my sharpie and thinking up names for them.

    Maybe...a George...or Frank... ._.

  • @KoyotoShadow XD lol

  • @KoyotoShadow simple.... there is FESTO written on it's fin

  • this is amaizing... imagine if you colud combine this with a minisub... i mean make-it powerfull enough to carry 2 men and oxigen... sci-fi would come to life...

  • Star Wars - Gungan Sub? :) pretty amazing (Y)

  • bingo

  • @junk6669 when sci fi comes to life they just drop the fi. Happens all the time.

  • @ratholin trully correct :) i hope i don't get too old to get to play with one of these things ;)

  • @junk6669 Festo. Bringing the "Sci" in "Sci-fi".

  • @junk6669 I think a mini sub would be more efficient...

  • @junk6669 better yet-keep them small, but use them as scuba tows. the macinery needed to move a two person one wouldn't have room for the people

  • can you buy these things anywhere?

  • No you can't buy this things, there are only some prototypes

  • ah well, it looks cool anyway.
