You can kill it in one hit just stand on the edge just enough so he donsen't see you then throw an egg at the plant.

I've beaten the Naval Piranha tons of times without it being grown by Kamek. I just hit it while it's a bud before the camera moves forcing the wall to close up. Kamek comes over and screams "OH MY!!!!!!!!!", and then you win World 3 without a boss battle. That's one of the few Easter Eggs in this game that I know of.

to do the glitch: just shoot a egg towards the right end of the screen and try to let it bounce form side to side and then let it hit the weird vase thingy
