So gorgeous! Can anyone tell me how to pronounce her name? Is the last name "popp" as in "popcorn?' And do you say her first name "loo-see-a" or "loo-shee-a"?
It is loo-chee-a 'Popp' (as in popcorn); however, her true name was Poppova because the Slavic language adds 'ova' to the end of family names when the bearer is a woman . Her gravestone says Lucia Poppova.
Yes, that is true; but in an interview she said when she began to sing internationally Lucia was consistently pronounced 'loo-chee-a' and she decided she preferred that pronunciation.
she´s got a dreamlike and precious soprano, everytime it´s like "honey for the ears". thanks for this tribut and go on, please !!! we all enjoy your work and your treasures :o))
Marvellous tribute to precious Lucia. This year of course is the 70th anniversary of her birth. A dream to see the youthful 1965 excerpt. Thank you Coloraturafan and well done!
Thanks for this.2:36 OMG! From which movie is the Frühlingstimmenwalzer taken? And coloraturafan, please not give up!! who is Mariella Devia comparishing whith her? And even not the true one!
Dank C**a. Sehr sehr schön! aber merkwürdig - ich habe gestern commentiert, nachdem der Sesto mir davon mitgeteilt hatte. Scheinbar abgenommen und neu heute hochgeladen. Schon gut - zum zweiten Mal gerne gesehen!!

in her native language, Slovakian, her first name should be pronounced "loo-tsee-a"

The quintessence of a true Mozartian voice.
Silvery voice without stingy edges to it.
Tribute would have been even more perfect with her Rusalka's Song to the Moon, where she stays completely unrivalled and unsurpassed.

Hard to believe she would be 70. I'll always see her as the young and tender blonde beauty.
