One of the few years Schuey wasn't in a car specifically designed for his unusual driving style, Still seemed to do pretty well, Won Spain If I remember right, Irvine described that car as a dog...
i remember in this race a fly landed on one of the onboard cameras and the lens cleaner pushed it across the screen. one of them silly things that stuck in my mind. lol.
You can see of shit the Ferrari was. Schymacher had to fight every corner to get the car right, especially on the last section. 3rd on the grid, 1.5s faster than Irvine.
@rfsculero Well people can have different thoughts:) maybe i overreacted a bit when i said it was the best looking car ever. But i think this one is a beauty. The 1998 is also really good looking.
a lot of people think he is slower now then back in the day. imo the other drivers on average are much faster than they used to be. therefore he looks slower. almost every driver in f1 now is a world champion level karter, back in 96 u couldnt say that i dont think.
LOL what an animal his first Ferrari was. To think he won 3 races with this and without reliabilty issues couldve won more still! - Theres no question Michael of 2010 is not even close to his own level in 1996. He didn't need the car to absolutely work for him back then.
You center the targhet, he can't push like this whit actual tyres and cars that's his problem.
If you do this in two laps your tyres are finished, the engine can't be changed, you don't have spare car so if you make a mistake you are out also in the other race, actual F1 is not for people like Schumi he do every lap pushing car at the limit , right now he can't push at all.
Notice he cocks his head to the side down the straights..??? He does this to allow a more cleaner airflow into the airbox so that Ferrari V10 can breathe undisturbed. Ferrair then changed the design later on so Schumacher could avoid moving his head.. But he did this lap after lap during a full race..!
Very interesting how he's throwing the car at the apex. Textbook example of a driver who likes the car pointy on oversteer fighting with a car that is horribly understeering.
Then again it was his first season at Ferrari, so it's only natural the car wasn't suited to him at all.
death waiting for you with arms wide open in every curve....

ahh, the last year of luffield being a double lefthander rather than the neverending (and annoying) curve it is now

Since this is from '96, that was probably Schumacher's longest run of the weekend, including the race. :P

wow the car acted very odd, lotsa understeer in some places, and he had to fix it with throwing the car into oversteer.

Can somebody tell me why Schumacher take the Corner1 (Copse) in the 3th Gear???
The Cars from today take Copse in 6th Gear, and if you got High-Downforce Wings you take Copse Full Flat Out....
So why he take the 3th Gear???
Is this Corner Build over???
kallo182 1 year ago 4
Copse corner (1980's-1996) taken in 3rd gear as you said and the newly revised version of Copse (1997-present) is now taken flatout in 7th gear.

Nice capture and a really rare video. Seemed to be a pretty good lap from Schumacher in a mediocre car. May I ask, where you found this video?
