I'm not 15, but you'd fail either way because age has nothing to do with the case. Using argumentum ad personam is not the way to go. Leave it, you are not right and you better act like a smart man would and admit it instead of sticking to your fallacies. Precise methods of sound analysis are always more accurate than anyone's ears. And it's in no way possible that a good tuner would mistake an Ab1 for Bb1. Apart from that, you are pretensious, and that's a very bad feature.
@Gidenkidenk I sympathize with you. I actually used to be able to sing this, low C and all. But I lost the C and the D, mostly, and so mine goes to D#2 as well.
@Jextxadore I can't really tell with the audio quality, and I'm not too familiar with this singer. If it's a C1, then, I'm probably thinking of another version I've heard, where it is the C2. I might be a low bass, but I'm no oktavist. Sadly.
I think Miller is the best from the 4 current oktavists, his voice is rounder and more melodic, not as dark as Pasuikov, or resonant as Wichniakov but Millers voice is outstanding in his bass and profondo range. This recording is pretty old maybe, dating back from 2001 or 2002, back then he was not as deep as he is now. I heard Miller in another recording constantly singing G1 and A1 with absolute resonance and power, still conserving his caracteristic round and melodic voice!! Thank for posting
I think so too, Miller is the best. However in the song are six additionnal measures where the octavist goes down to the contra-sol. These measures are skipped by Miller , Kruglov and Pasuikov. I do not know of another octavist who does sing them.
@dezangerman Yes in fact Wichniakov does sing the G1 while Tchepikov and Krunchetkov sing and octave above. Even Kruglov, Pasuikov o Miller dont sing the G1, them three master the song perfectly
@DonSchanteloni Yes I've heard this one, and I've also heard Millers G1 but I mean that I've never heard the G1 of Do Not Reject Me In Old Age by Pasyukov, Miller o Kruglov. But I'm sure they have, its just not on youtube :D
Professionally bass singers are talking in their middle or higher voice-range to rest their voice. Talking too much on the lowest point of range is not good for the voice...especially for bass singers, who need their low notes for singing.
I think the tempo on this is a little too relaxed, and that does Miller a bit of a disadvantage in this song, which is based on King David's passionate plea in old age for God to remain with him and give him strength to show God's glory and power to the coming generations. At this speed, Miller's smooth, velvety voice is just too calm and even, and doesn't quite fit the bill.
I still like Pusikov/Wichniakov/Mihailik the best because of their untrained power which is the Russian style! NOthing against MIller, but I prefer an untrained sound, just preference!
Szerintem még messze elmarad Paszujkovtól vagy Visnyakovtól, az ő dörgedelmes, már-már hátborzongatóan mélyen dörgő hangzásvilágukat - a hajókürt szintjén - nehéz lesz visszaadni...
I still find this to be the best recording. Wichniakov's and Pausikov's voices tend to have an overtone that masks the pitch they're trying to sing. Miller's notes are right in the core of the pitch and there's no doubt in what note he's singing.
I agree. I feel what Miller is singing. With others this piece seems as if it's moaning. Granted I don't know the nuances or lyrical dynamics of the piece but this seems the most powerful to me and speaks volumes.
Don't be ridiculous, this man was born this way because of uh, well, it just so happens that he was born this way, he didn't earn it, nobody could ever earn it.
He's just awesome and let's be glad he became a singer.
ı can hit b1 as powerful as a profondo, but below this,my voice loses overtones and power, sounds like a sin wave but not drop fry or growling until d#1.how can ı make tht notes powerful and add good tones?should ı gave up wide rage and higher notes(at sixth octave full voice and whistle e7)
Any tone, no matter how deep, should be effortless, if sung in the proper position. I heard my singing teacher (a baritone!) hitting a low G a couple of times. It's power was, of course, not even comparable to Miller's, but what a feat for a baritone, noneteless. And he says all you need to do is place it well and relax. :)
Listen to watch?v=KXuz5BHZ5S4 and you might change your mind. Loud G# at :26 and the Bb at 2:35 is nuts plus low low F at the very end I think. Also watch?v=Zb2l3A4lpcI at 1:05 he descends to a nice low Ab.
I understand where you are coming from but after seeing these tapes of him doing the octavist part in a 5-man choir (so you know all the power is from him) I was quite blown away. Not that I think it really needs to be a competition, but I thought you should check those out.

so it's a mistake he was born this way? I beg to differ
He was MEANT to sing.
DrStrangefate 3 years ago
Did I say it was a mistake?
No I didn't.
You seem intent on believing that he can't have this voice unless some external agent used magic.
You should study statistics, probability and genetics.
It's nothing strange with vocal anomalies like these, and they aren't mistakes, why should they be?
I'm glad that this man lives, and that he chose to sing.
